The first company I'd hired to clean my main line had told me it was blocked and likely damaged, and that I'd need to get it excavated (under the street, aka $$$). I saw enough positive anecdotes about Cardinal that I hired them for a second cleanout attempt, and it turned out the "solid blockage" that the first guy couldn't get past was just a ton of tree roots. Lee and Jackie got my line completely cleaned out in just under two hours, showed me Lee's progress on the camera as he went along, and confirmed my pipes are actually in totally fine condition. Lee draws on decades of experience without phoning it in; he didn't waste a moment of the time I was billed for. Morals of the story: 1, get a sewer inspection *before* you buy a 120-year-old house, whether your realtor thinks it's necessary or not; 2, sand/silt in your line *can* be a sign of breakage but can also just be evidence of tree root infiltration; and 3, call Cardinal for thorough and efficient cleaning. read more

I had an emergency backup in my main sewer line. I called Cardinal and they have people who take your information and then someone in the area called me back within 15 minutes. We scheduled for him to come out to my house within the hour. He was a touch late but it was understandable because he was on another job. So far so good ... Alex came and was a very nice guy. He seemed very knowledgeable and explained to me a lot of what was going on. He fixed the problem and the whole experience was as bearable as was possible with poo on your basement floor. Then I woke up the next morning and had water in the basement again. Turns out he forgot to check one of the drains and it turned out to be plugged. I now have to replace carpet because of the hiccup. If it wasn't for the HUGE mistake of forgetting to check the extra drain, it would have been a good experience. Unfortunately, they get knocked down because of that. read more

Our main sewer line was backing up in the basement. We initially called Uptown Plumbing as we had had them do work at our house previously.. Someone came to our house and spent ~45 min attempting to unclog the drain. He said he was hitting something about 10ft out. After using a camera, they recommended excavating and repairing a section of our sewer pipe for $6000. We decided we wanted another opinion before making a pressured/rushed decision to spend that much money. After calling around, Cardinal Services was recommended to us by Gene's Water & Sewer who said that we most likely didn't actually need to have that work done, but just needed a good/better drain cleaning. The person who came from Cardinal Services was excellent; had the camera and the snake and was able to completely clean 90ft of pipe to the front street in ~2.5 hours (we don't need the sewer repair/excavation work done). They gained a customer for life thanks to their high quality of work at a fair price! read more

The experience was great (minus the sewer backup that is). The company arrived earlier than they said they would, and charged about 800 less than their competitor quoted! The workman was a pro, and explained every step of the process. I was convinced I needed a new sewer line, and he explained that with preventative maintenance ever few years, there was no reason not to get another 30-50 years from a main that is already 100 years old. I hated having to call Cardinal but was happy with the end result. Cardinal came highly recommend from a friend of mine. They came with in an hour (they were kind of in the area). Tech came in, reviewed the situation, got his gear and started to work. 2 hours later we were clear of roots and debris. A quick run of the camera displayed no damage to the pipes and we were clear to the city line. I felt confident in the tech's ability and what he was telling me as he worked through the situation I had. The tech was personable and friendly. I would definitely call them again (and will every couple of years to clear any roots before they become a problem). read more

Cardinal Services was amazing! I had a similar experience as another reviewer. We were told by Uptown that they would never be able to clear more than 20% of the sewer line because of roots and they recommended replacing several feet of the line for $5000. I was looking for a second opinion and found Gene's Water & Sewer who recommended Cardinal Services. Cardinal Services was able to almost completely remove the roots and showed me with the camera that there is very little wrong with my sewer line. I will have to have it cleaned every couple of years but they saved me a lot of money. I highly recommend Cardinal Services. read more

These guys almost caused me to have a home sale fall through because of a bogus (or incompetent) sewer line inspection prior to my sale. Told the buyers about cracks running all around the main line, holes in the line, and didn't even provide the video of the inspection because they said they didn't pay for it. Most companies give you the video anyway, call around. After bringing in someone competent and having a master plumber investigate and check it all out, it was determined nothing was wrong other than a bunk report with no video to back it up, just the guys word. Cost me over a grand to get everything straightened out. My real estate agents and the agent for my homes buyer both will never use them again. read more

Woke up to our sewer line backing up at 7am. By noon Cardinal had Alex out to clean out the roots and, after two hours of the auger doing its thing, had our lines completely cleared out. We recently had our main sewer line back up in our basement and we made the rookie mistake of calling Roto Rooter. Someone came to the house and was able to temporarily get the water to drain, however he said he was hitting a blockage and needed to send back a guy with a camera to take a closer look. Someone came with a camera the next day and told us that our pipe that connects to the main sewer was offset and then handed me an estimate of $15,000 to fix it! We were devastated and knew we needed to get a second opinion. We luckily called Gene's Water and Sewer and they suggested we likely didn't need that work done and instead simply needed someone who could do a better job cleaning the pipes -- they then highly recommended Cardinal Services for the job. We decided to call Cardinal Services and we are so thankful we did! Lee from Cardinal Services came to our house that same day and was able to get through the blockage and all the way to the main sewer line! We couldn't believe it! Our pipes were never offset -- they simply needed to be cleaned better! Lee kept me informed as he cleaned out our pipes and used a camera to show me the perfectly clean pipes all the way to the main sewer line after he was done. Lee was extremely knowledgeable, very skilled at his work, and a pleasure to work with. We couldn't be happier with his services and will absolutely be calling him back to our house for maintenance in the future! Cardinal Services has gained a life long customer!
