Louisa location is now an ACE Hardware store. Don't bother, especially if you're driving from…read moreanother town. The Ace brand push broom I purchased was defective -- the handle could not be threaded into the broom head. The pitch and size of the threads on the handle did not match the threads in the head. When I returned it, the manager treated me as though I were too stupid to know how to attach the handle. She tried it on another example of the same item, just jamming the handle in a bit when it wouldn't turn in and declaring it fit for service. I patiently explained the problem again and showed her why the handle was not, in fact, properly seated. She denied the problem. Further, she refused to make it right by trading the defective item for a better-quality broom in compensation for the extra time and trip I had to make. She grudgingly issued a refund on the defective item and suggested that I was being difficult. I suggest that this is not the way for a hometown business to treat its customers if it wants to lure them away from the big-box store in the next town over.

She placed me on hold for almost 5 min. and came back with "Yes" it is in stock. I told her I would be there to pick it up. Well-No Jonathan Green and the young lady didn't bother to go check. She just looked in the computer. Please train your staff to physically go check if an item is in stock before customers drive out. Especially, after a long hold time. Below is the reality of the situation. 1. I called before to ensure they had the model I wanted in stock as I live 25 minutes away. The assured me they had it. When I arrived no, they didn't have it and could only offer of Oh I'm sorry, what do you want to do? Kind of take it or leave it attitude. 2. Was walking about the store for at least 10 minutes after arrival, no one greeted me or asked what I was looking for. 3. Was standing in an aisle looking at a garden hoe price as it was missing. Employee walks right by me not a word spoken. He comes back by a few minutes later and I have to flag him down, and he doesn't know the price and has to go look. 4. Asked for a demo of the stihl product including start up and safety procedures guy says "I already took care of that" and proceeds to ask if he can take a break now. 5. They then take me to sign up for my own warranty. This may be standard practice, but at the other stihl dealer I normally go to this is taken care of by the staff. During this process the safety briefing comes up and a manager is asked if he can do the demo and safety brief. He has a deer in the heads lights look on his face and just shakes his head as if he is confused why I am bothering him with this. 6. I asked about a few different products in the store to a few employees. Never did they know the answer..it was always oh let me go look. Should they be knowledgeable in the products carried by the store or is that asking too much? In the end, I bought a chain saw model that was more expensive, had none of my questions answered in a clear manner, and a manager that seems to want to chill in the paint section and not be bothered. If this seems like a good experience for you then by all means spend your money at this store. I expected more from a store that pleads with locals on social media to support local businesses as the big box stores are killing Ace slowly but the employees and manager are taking no responsibility for their own survival but just doing and learning the basic job. Mine is just one experience, I'm sure the employees are good people outside of work, I'm just giving my factual experience.

I got there and could not find it for $169 and I showed her the sale from my phone from the web. She called customer service who said i could bring to customer service and they would match the price advertised for their store. I went up to pay and suddenly Michael who works in that department came up and started questioning where I saw the sale price. He told me that I probably saw it from another store outside of their district and the price could not be honored. He had ME go on my phone and find the price. I was with my dog and had an appointment, why could he not look on his phone? So i logged in finally and found the sale price and then he took several minutes to see if the model matched which of course it did. He was pretty rude and then I had to wait for a mananger to over ride the price and after 5 minutes I asked how long it would be and the girl at the register lacked any personality and simply said "he is with another customer" and I said "you must have another manager to override" and then they called Tracy who also had to look online which took some time and finally she said "we will match that price" and I said "you are matching your own price in your own store". I felt that Michael just came out of the blue and doubted everything I said, making me feel like I was lying. Also, Michael should of told Tracy that the price was indeed $169 instead of just standing there. I was probably inline for 20 minutes due to the incompetence of the front end customer service along with the rudeness of Michael. And this is exactly why people shop on Amazon, to avoid such incompetence and aggravation.

I visited this location to redeem a builders coupon for 2-pints of paint and to purchase a gallon of paint for a new project... what a great experience. Not only were the employees friendly, they were helpful with recommendations and transparent with pricing. For example, I had a 50% coupon and already went online for pricing so knew what expect... or so I thought. I was told (before purchase) that the store prices are different from the online purchases. I was appreciative of being made aware of this prior to making a purchase. I selected the brand, color, and paint type then he took a few minutes to mix the color according to the type I requested. Upon completion of the purchase, he boxed up my items and loaded them into my vehicle. Even better, 1-pint of paint listed on my coupon was out of stock and he took down my number to call when it became available with a free drop off at my house since this company is frequently in my neighborhood... saving me a job. I recommend this place to anyone who is undertaking a home project requiring paint!!
