Horrible. I read a review online saying they do a specific surgery, hopeful that someone could finally help me out. I call them and ask about the surgery and am met with rudeness, dismissiveness, and they act like they have never heard of what I'm talking about. They then accuse me of lying and making up the post. Then the dentist, who I asked to speak to, instead of calling me back, has the receptionist call and tell me she has "never done" the surgery. When there is a literal facebook post of them bragging about it and how they "passionately" do it. https://www.facebook.com/FindLaserDoctors/posts/cynthia-blalock-dds-at-missouri-tongue-tie-associates-inside-of-cardinal-dental-/1333745846801455/ read more

Wonderful office and staff. Great painless dentist who puts her patients FIRST! They are very good at meeting patient needs without engaging in the now common dental practice of recommending unnecessary dental work. Honest, professional and reliable! read more

Edit: I took my recently turned two year old to the dentist for the first time today. Like I said in my previous review, I've had childhood trauma from my old dentist so I was extremely anxious for her. She was hesitant in the beginning but everyone was able to get her super comfortable by showing her all the cool tools they use. Hygienist Amanda and Dr. Blalock were so gentle with her and didn't push her to do anything she didn't want to do. I am so grateful. She had such an amazing time, I couldn't be more proud of my baby girl. Normally before I decide to go somewhere, I look at reviews. I had moved to St. Peters from California. And since it's been nearly two years that I've gone to a dentist, good reviews are a big deal. I found Cardinal Dental through Google and saw their Facebooks reviews were great. But their Yelp? Not so much. And I don't understand why. This place is great! It's super nice on the inside and the staff are so kind and welcoming. Theres music playing throughout the office which I thought was a nice touch. Due to childhood trauma, I absolutely can't stand going to get dental work. It terrifies me. But Hygienist Amanda was so amazing. She was gentle and completely reassuring. And doesn't make any awkward conversations. I really appreciate how she was able to get me comfortable during my cleaning. In fact, I trust her so much that I scheduled an appointment for my 2 year old and even my husband, who rarely goes to the dentist voluntarily. So it's safe to say this place isn't all that bad. I would definitely recommend it. And if you have any questions regarding billing, make sure you ask. They'll gladly answer any question as they have with the dozens of questions I asked lol. read more

The staff is great and vey attentive to your needs. I highly recommend Cardinal Dental and Dr. Blaylock!

Exceptional care by a wonderful team of caring professionals! Today was my first dental appointment here and I couldn't be happier. From the time I called to schedule my appointment to the time of arrival for my appointment, staff were very friendly and helpful. Dr. B is very warm and down to earth and she's extremely knowledgeable. I appreciate the fact that she didn't push or try to persuade me into getting a bunch of dental work done asap without really addressing the root cause of WHY I'm having certain dental issues in the first place. I should mention that before coming here, I saw a few other dentist to get their opinions on what's the best course of treatment and Dr. B was the ONLY dentist to actually spend the time to try to figure out what the main problems are. I appreciate the time she took to review my past medical issues and her very thorough examination. I feel so much better and relieved knowing that there's now an action plan moving forward to address issues that will more than likely AFFECT not only my teeth but my overall quality of life in the future. I would definitely recommend her practice to others. read more

I've been coming here since 2021 and I have never looked forward to going to the dentist until I started coming here. The staff is welcoming and super helpful. My insurance company is difficult to work with and they have taken the initiative on multiple occasions to fight on my behalf and get my services covered. My teeth were in pretty rough shape when I started coming here but I didn't feel pressured to start getting work done right away. They worked with me on a payment plan and helped me to feel like I was in control of my dental health again. I haven't had a cavity since 2022 and I really feel like Dr. Blalock and her staff have helped me a lot to understand more about how to take care of my teeth better and alleviated my anxiety around going to the dentist. I couldn't recommend them more! read more

Be prepared to be pressured to get fillings.. I had been coming here for a few years and was told we could watch a few spots that came up on x-ray but wasn't bothering me. With each visit it became more obvious they were just interested in getting me to agree to them to do more work. Then today I was told that I could no longer be a patient because I just wanted to wait any watch these. Horrible pressure to get fillings then dumped if you say no. Don't recommend this place at all. read more

I seriously wish there was an option for NO STARS! Worst experience ever! Went in for some minor dental work. In the process, the dentist literally BROKE MY TOOTH NEXT TO THE ONE THAT WAS BEING WORKED ON!!! And I mean broke it so bad it will now have to be surgically removed! Please, Please, if you are in need of dental work stay away from this read more

Very professional. Modern and clean. Great team. They really care and do great work!

The most unprofessional dentist I have ever encountered. They are more interested in money than helping people. I'm 40 years old and have never had nor needed braces. They suggested braces for me. I had a cracked tooth, instead of filling it they recommended a crown. I felt pressure because they insisted it was an emergency and a very expensive crown was the only option that they offered. When the crown fell off they refused to help me and put it back on because I hadn't been there in 3 years. They did make 2 separate appointment for me, which I had to take off of work for and they then canceled both appointments 2 hours before the appointment time. Money, money, money is the only interest of this office staff and more importantly the dentist. Also her husband is a chiropractor next door to her office, she will find any random reason that you should go visit him. She suggested I take my 3 year old there because he would not open his mouth for his 1st dental appointment ever. Wish I would have picked up on the bad vibes there the 1st time I was there like my 2 year old did! read more

My husband and I starting going to Dr. Blalock last year. I've been to their office four times, I think. *Every single person* in this office is the friendly, warm, inviting, knowledgeable, and caring more than any medical physician or dental office I've ever been. I had my bridge removed - and replaced - within 3.5 hours. I had it put in in 1975. Replaced in1995, and replaced again this past Monday, 5/9. They work with the intention to make your experience as comfortable and as painless as possible. Usually my jaw out of alignment for months because I was required to keep my mouth open as wide as possible. Not this time. My jaw would be sore, my gums would hurt, and I would have some bruising and swelling for days afterwards. I had absolutely none of that. This bridge feels like I've had it forever and it looks great! It's a light, fun, homey office. And kid friendly. Once month you can bring your children to your appointment and they play with the kids while you have your checkup! I work in a hospital setting and I have been to more than my share of physician offices in the past couple of years. This is the most high tech office I've ever seen. Please give them a try. I know you will not be disappointed!! read more

I had a negative, unprofessional interaction with Dr. Blalock. I complained about the lack of response to three voicemails over the course of a couple of weeks, no reply to an email to her and no return call after I called the emergency service due to severe tooth pain. No one called me back-not even when the office opened on Monday. Eventually the tooth stopped hurting and I waited for a regular check up to discuss it. My daughter needed extensive work and experienced anxiety when an appointment ran to three hours. I regretted cutting the appointment short but didn't know how else to handle it. In my opinion, Dr. Blalock was irritated and not good at hiding it and I felt she was not supportive or particularly kind. But I let it go as I know we stopped in the middle of a procedure and that was irritating and potentially impacted her schedule. Three hours was just too long for a teenager. There is more to the story but on a follow up visit they then said she needed a root canal before they would finish the tooth and I became upset. I was at fault for at least half of the negativity in the conversation that followed. It was disappointing and frustrating but I let it go and avoided posting a negative review thinking we just didn't make a good connection and she was pregnant and hormonal. But my attitude toward posting a review changed when I went to a new dentist to follow up on the work Dr. Blalock recommended and included in my treatment plan. The new dentist looked carefully and checked closely and could find no evidence that the new (extensive and expensive) work was needed or advisable. It wasn't even a close call. He could find no evidence of decay or tooth damage and he really tried to! I have never posted a negative review about anyone or anything so this was hard to do. I felt obligated to share my experience. I still feel bad about posting it but I have not ever experienced this number of red flags with a dentist or medical professional. read more

Let me start off by saying - you should go elsewhere. I cracked the root of my tooth on a Saturday so by the time I got to Dr. Blalock's office on Monday I was in considerable pain and swelling had begun. after a quick examination and x-ray they confirmed that I had indeed cracked the root and would require a surgical tooth extraction and bone graft to lay the foundation for a prosthetic later. since the infection was so bad I needed to be on antibiotics for a few days and allow the infection to go away before the procedure could be done. I explained how bad the pain was and I asked for medicine to help me get through the next couple days while the infection healed. she shrugged it off saying I could just rotate between ibuprofen and Tylenol. I reiterated how intense the pain was and that I could feel my face beginning to swell but that made no difference and she just said I should feel better in 24 to 48 hours. Then after I had just finished explaining how awful I felt, Blalock says "my 1:00 was a no show, can we go ahead and clean your teeth while you are here." (unbelievable - you are trying to upsell me when I am in miserable pain. you clearly are not listening to me and only care about selling me additional services) As Monday went on I felt worse and worse, so I called the office again saying that I didn't think I would be able to make it through the night and that it hurt so bad I could feel my own pulse through my jawline and that the swelling had continued. The receptionist placed me on hold and talked to Blalock, when she came back on the line she said that Blalock would not give me anything for the pain. When I tried to explain further I could tell no one was actually listening to what I was saying and just kept repeating the words ibuprofen and Tylenol. Monday night I did not get even a minute of sleep and was in terrible pain. My face had now swollen to the point that I looked like I was hiding a golf ball in my cheek. I called the office first thing in the morning on Tuesday and asked the receptionist if this level of swelling was normal or if I should be concerned. she took down my information and said that Blalock would call me whenever she got in. well.....the entire day went on and no phone call. Tuesday night was almost the same as Monday night with almost no sleep. so there I sat on Wednesday morning absolutely delirious from lack of sleep, physically exhausted from days of intense pain, having not been able to eat for days as well. I called an oral surgeon who, based on my description of what was going on, scheduled me for emergency surgery and did all the work needed. I had to have a tube placed in my cheek for an additional 2 days after the surgery to help with the swelling and to help get the infection out. I will never go back to this office and I will never forget this experience. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone. Here are some sincere words of advice Dr. Blalock: 1. Think of the thoughts, feelings and physical wellbeing of your patients before the bottom line of your P&L 2. Return phone calls - always and relentlessly - My infection got so bad it spread to my face. Had I, myself, not taken initiative to call another professional I could have had some serious permanent damage or even developed Sepsis. You would know this if you bothered to return a phone call. read more

Cardinal Dental bought out the previous Dr's office, this was approx 2 years ago. I stayed with Cardinal Dental and was told they would still be accepting my insurance and everything would be the same as usual. Well, they were at first. The first visit after the new Dr and it was all new employees except 1 person, the receptionist I believe, was the only person still working there. Then this past December I went to get my teeth cleaned and the dental hygienist started asking me questions and looking at my mouth before starting to clean my teeth. I told her I had a canker sore that hurt a little, she seemed very intrigued and asked all sorts of questions. She left the room and came back 5 mins later and informed me she would not be able to clean my teeth because of this "cold sore". I couldn't believe it and left. I went home and did some research, she believed I had a herpies of the mouth. With 5 mins of research, I saw the huge difference there is between a cold sore and canker - and mine was very obviously not a cold sore. So I tried calling the dentist but just got a voicemail. She did call me back after I sent an email with links showing the difference between the 2 things. She said she would come in on Friday, when they're normally closed, to look at it herself, and if her dental hygienist was wrong, she'd clean my teeth herself. So I went up there and she apologized for her assistants error and cleaned my teeth. So for my May 16, 2016 cleaning, they asked I get there early to fill out paper work and update my insurance info. So I did. They copied my drivers license and Athem card. They cleaned my teeth and said I had a cavity, and to have it filled would be $50 and my insurance would pay the rest. Seemed reasonable so I went ahead and got it done. On 6/1/16 I received a bill in the mail for $92. I play phone tag with the billing person today and finally speak to Danielle who tells me I should contact Anthem and ask why they didn't pay as much as they should have. So I call Anthem and they inform me that in Feb 2016 Cardinal Dental stopped accepting the Dental Blue 100 plan that I have and only accept the Dental Blue 300. This is why there is a remaining balance, because Cardinal Dental has raised their rates and just don't accept that plan any longer. But they failed to ever mention that to me, knowing full well when I went in for a visit that it wouldn't be covered like it had my previous 3 visits. I feel this was very shady of Cardinal Dental. I spoke with Ashley in their billing area and she gave plenty of excuses all pointing to Anthem and they never know exactly what the insurance company is going to pay, and there was nothing she was going to do for me. I will never go back there to have my teeth cleaned. I do not trust them. They may seem like nice people, but another family member of mine had a similar situation occur where they said it was going to cost x amount and it cost a lot more, I have no confidence in them, and I leave this review to warn others to be careful of this place. If I could leave 0 stars, I would. For Cardinal Dental: Charging someone almost 3x's what you said it would be seems like a very dishonest business model to me. You can't claim you don't know what the insurance company is going to pay when you stop accepting that plan, just tell your customer! It's simple! read more

It takes truly horrible service for me to take the time to write a negative review for a company. I was a patient under the former dentist at this office for 23 years. Dr. Ulrich's office lost me as a patient in less than 1. Three out of four of my appointments were cancelled over the year, two of which I had about an hours notice after I'd already taken off work. They also cancelled on my parents twice throughout the year. When I called to tell them I decided to switch dentists due to their unreliability, the receptionist (Ashley) was rude and when I pointed it out she actually argued with me that she wasn't being rude. I filled out the paperwork to have my files transferred to a different dentist and the new dentist said he never received them. The incompetence of this place was unending. My parents are planning on switching dentists also, a total of three patients lost. The one time I was actually able to see Dr. Ulrich she spent most of the appointment interrogating me about my speech impediment and persistently tried to get me to go to a speech therapy doctor. Yes, I am aware of my speech impediment, thanks for reminding me. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone. read more

Dr. Blalock's office is one of the most incompetent places I've ever been., and their accounts payable person is terrible. I was a patient of the previous dentist and decided to stay when she bought the practice. At first it was good. Before any procedure we would go through what the estimated cost would be (depending on what insurance does and doesn't cover) in great length. There was a procedure where I was going to have to have a crown replaced that I knew wouldn't be covered under insurance, because it was only a few years old. I had other work that needed to be done but couldn't afford that and the new crown. We talked about this for 20 minutes and I decided to go ahead with replacing it. Once she takes it off she was going to fill the cavity underneath it, but she said that cavity ended up being so bad (I had a canal in that tooth so I didn't feel it) that she would have to send me to an oral surgeon to get the tooth taken out, because she didn't think she could do it in one piece. She also said I didn't have an infection. She said, well it looks like you can afford the other work now. Want to go ahead and get it done? (The work was equivalent in price to the replacement crown). She sealed the tooth (she didn't want to leave it open since I had a root canal) and did the other expensive work. Within a few days I get into the oral surgeon. Dr. Blalock's office never sent the X-ray they were supposed to. The oral surgeons office requested it twice was I was there and so did I, each time being assured that they sent it. The oral surgeon decided to go ahead and do the procedure without the X-ray. After being numbed, she begin and I noticed pain right away. She was able to get the tooth out, but it turns out I had a pretty bad infection around that tooth that are said had to have been there for at least a week.. maybe more and that the previous dentist should have seen in on the X-ray. Fast forward 6-8 months and I get a bill from Dr. Blalacks office that says I owe them over $400 for the seal they put over the tooth after they took the crown off. I call and said that was discussed. She just said she was sealing it and that we talk about all costs before anything is done that I'll be charged for. If she had discussed that with me I would have said no and gone to the surgeon same day and I definitely wouldn't have gone ahead and gotten the other work done that maxed out my care credit. I was talked accounts payable would call me back if there was a problem. Two weeks later still hadn't heard anything. I called again and again left a message for either accounts payable or Dr. Blalock to give me a call. The receptionist said she would talk to dr blalock and if anything was wrong she'd call. I heard nothing for 6 months! So I assume it was taken care of. I've never argued over a charge before. So when I get a bill saying I owe this bill that is now really late I'm extremely upset. I get the same run around again, then the receptionist has the audacity to say "so what you're telling me is you expected to get that work done for free?". I was stunned. I'm still waiting for the dentist to get back to me. I had a collections agency call today. That is the most incompetent group I have ever dealt with. It was ridiculous. read more

I had an excellent experience with the Doctor and entire staff at Cardinal Dental. I had previously been to a high pressure sales dentist. Everyone at Cardinal was very informative and honest. I knew all my options and that whatever decision I made was going to be after I was educated and not pressured into anything. I knew if I moved forward with suggested care the price was given in advance and if I decided to wait I was informed on what could potentially happen or what I may face in the future. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend this office. read more

The first time I went for a cleaning, I waited an hour before telling them I had to leave and reschedule. The next time I went back, they told me they had run my insurance and I would be responsible for paying for the fluoride treatment they recommended. I thought that was reasonable and paid the $25 for the treatment. I had a cavity that needed to be filled, so I went back to have the filling. They told me that I would have to pay my portion upfront. I then received a bill for $200, most of which was for the cleaning that should have been covered by insurance. I called my insurance company who told me that it had been submitted as out-of-network and to call the office to ask it to be re-submitted. When I called the office and left 2 messages for the billing office and never heard back, I called to talk to the receptionist and was told that it was a problem with my insurance and to figure it out with them. She was very rude. I was able to get an explanation from the insurance company. I called to pay my bill and asked to speak to the office manager to complain that I hadn't been told that they were out-of-network when they supposedly ran my insurance prior to BOTH of my treatments to figure my portion of the bill upfront. The office manager was "with a patient" and never called me back. Needless to say, I will never go back there. They have shady business practices and are rude and unprofessional when called on it. read more

I am sharing the entire experience so those who are looking for a review and see all the wonderful reviews can see it's not all roses at this office. The experience here was TERRIBLE! Poorly run office, especially billing dept. Bills not received promptly, then unable to explain bills when they finally send them, that is if they will even discuss it with you. Give dental insurance discount then later bill you the discounted amount. During a "special cleaning" I was told I needed, but didn't, the hygienist pulled off the crown I had put on at this office a few weeks prior. First the hygienist told me it wasn't loose then I touched it with my tongue and it fell off in my hand. I handed it to her and said, I told you it pulled off, she said it must have been loose when I came in. Then why did she just say it wasn't loose after checking it and if it was loose when I came in then it was put on wrong to begin with, by this office. Dentist came in and said not enough tooth there to put it back on. How can that be when she put it on just a few weeks prior? Tooth did not break, crown was pulled off by hygienist. Dentist wanted to charge to pull the tooth, refused to put it back on. I said I'd go elsewhere for a second opinion. Dentist didn't want to give me my crown to take with me. I had already paid for the crown a few weeks ago, in full, it is my crown. Guess it didn't matter because I went to another dentist who had to make a new crown because this one wasn't made right to begin with he said (might be why she didn't want me to take it with me), said there was plenty of tooth left though and crowned it. Had no problems since. Tried to discuss matter with dentist, NEVER received a call back after multiple attempts to contact her. I looked at reviews after my bad experience and noticed any and all negative comments made about this office, the doctor or staff have comments back from the office making it sound like the patient is unintelligent or the office has done nothing wrong, ever. Just wanting to give a heads up that if something isn't done in an ethical or professional manner by this dentist, you will simply be belittled and nothing done to fix their mistakes. Or they say, contact the office, we'd love to discuss this with you, too late, already attempted that and no they did not want to discuss it or resolve anything. read more

cardinal dental in st peters mo is a professional, hi-tech, well equiped dental facility with a total staff that is outstanding, highly skilled and really, really cares about people . i was a total stranger to cardinal dental and to everyone that works there until august 2016. that is when i had my first of three visits. in the past 70 + years before cardinal dental i have been to 11 different dentists in four different states, three different countries as well as four military bases ! my first visit dr. cynthia blalock (owner) gave me an exam and made the recommendations for treatment i needed for two teeth. danielle the pricing and finance specialist provided me with a complete list totally detailed with options for procedure codes, material specs and prices in a best case and worst case situation. a few days later i explained to danielle that i do not have dental insurance and as a retired senior living in todays cost of living i have to maintain a very tight budget. danielle immediately starting working with me on different options and came up with a very good plan that worked well for me ! we then set two appointments, one for a filling and the second for a root canal and crown with dr. tarah ridenbark. i filled out the papers at home and sent it to cardinal dental online. when i arrived for my appointment shayna checked me in and had an account all ready for me and all i had to do was sign my name. megan the dental assistant to dr. ridenbark came into the waiting room for me right to the minute of my appointment time. they never "left me in a room by myself" because someone was always by my side through out the entire appointment. i was very comfortable and never had any pain at all. when dr. ridenbark was finished with my new filling i went to the front desk for check out and shayna had my bill all totally detailed with codes, materials and prices ready for me ! i just recently finished my next appointment where i received a root canal and a "temporary" crown while my new crown is being made. everybody and everything for this appointment was identical to what i described above. for my "temporary" crown dr. ridenbark, megan and danielle were all working together to get the color match, fit and installation of this "temporary" to be just right. their care and concern was many, many times better than what i received for my (3) existing "permament" crowns from several other dentists mentioned above. what i experienced in all of my cardinal dental appointments was an entire staff that love to help people and love their jobs. 24 hours after my root canal and installation of my "temporary" crown, dr. ridenbark called me personally at my home and asked how i was doing and if the "temporary" is working o.k. ! that was an outstanding thing to do and i was so overwhelmed ! no dental, medical, health person has ever done this for me. i think this personal caring phone call by dr. ridenbark to me states what cardinal dental is all about ! ! ! ! bill d. st charles mo 10/13/16 read more
