Yes, those things and more happened at another dental practice, so I was hesitant. Bogey Hills Dental was great to me. The Dr. and staff were extremely efficient and made the work seem like they could do it with their eyes closed. It was a real relief to find this practice. However, after a few more visits, my experience with the administrative and billing side of the office changed my opinion. My son's temporary crown came off a couple of times, which required repeat visits. Everyone remained friendly, but it was still inconvenient. The bigger issue for me happened during my own appointment. I had already paid my portion in advance, and the remaining balance was supposed to be billed to my insurance. I stopped at the desk just to double-check that I didn't owe anything before leaving, and was told they "never know if or what insurance will pay." That immediately raised questions for me because I've never heard that before, and I've never had issues with my insurance not paying. When I asked for clarification, I was met with rude, dismissive responses and passive remarks that made it sound like my insurance might not cover anything. She acted annoyed that I even asked questions after her comments. When I stepped out of the office I realized I had forgotten something and walked back in to retrieve it, two staff members were visibly laughing, clearly about the situation and my questions. That was extremely unprofessional and honestly hurtful. I left feeling very disrespected. I want to be clear that I'm not taking anything away from the hygienists or dental staff, they were wonderful. But overall, the experience was so disappointing. There are too many dentists out there to tolerate being treated disrespectfully, especially when the questions I asked were legitimate. My son who is 12 has some cavities. It happens. He has those extra grooves in his teeth and we went to an Pediadontist since his experience had been so bad and we had several 'abandon ship' appointments with Dr. Wilson since my son has so much anxiety. We finally were able to get the cavities filled from Dr. Wilson because he was so patient and we gave my son some anti-anxiety meds. I located a dentist in my plan and called the office, only to learn that this dentist had retired and Dr. Burgdorf was now practicing in this location. After arriving and being greeted very warmly by Amy, Linda, the hygienist, walked me through the initial portion of the exam with a very thorough explanation. When Dr. Burgdorf arrived in the exam room he greeted me in a very warm manner as well and explained every step of the way in a positive and supportive way. He was very gentle and made me feel very comfortable. I had told him that it has been a long time since I was seen by a dentist and it was largely due to embarrassment of the condition of my teeth. He assured me that this was a judgment-free office and his job was to help me achieve my dental goals.
