This place is a hidden gem! My first appointment I felt like I had been an established patient for quite some time. Calm, quiet, very clean environment. The staff is super friendly and the doctor is just fantastic. It was much more affordable than I ever imagined. Wow, this place needs to handle communication better. This place can overly communicate on reminders on appointments (4-5 within a day) but when it comes to a $16 balance (yes, only $16!) because insurance only paid a certain amount, they only send the bill via mailing address. It had been since February 2022 (7-8 months ago) since my past appointment. I moved out of state months ago, so my mailing address they had was wrong. When they get the bill sent back to them and didn't hear back from me (since my mailing address is old in their system), they wait 6 months to threaten me with sending me to collections... over $16. I received NO phone call when the bill was sent back to them via mail. They have my cell number correctly since they texted me to say they are sending me to collections 6 months after the issue. (Also, as you can see with the below screenshot, the last time I was contacted via phone was 6 months.) But don't worry, when I had an appointment with them, they had no problem calling, emailing AND texting me multiple times within a few days. I got over the multiple communications in a few days, but trying to send me to collections for $16 when they made no effort to actually pick up the phone and call me for over 6 months. They just sent me a text on Sept 15 (which shows they know my phone number to actually call me) saying my balance is overdue and I'll be sent to collections if I don't pay it. After a year of searching for a provider that did Botox for the treatment of TMJ issues I finally found Dr. Jesse Chellis at BDC. I have not only had a reduction in my TMJ symptoms of teeth grinding, cracking teeth and night guards, sore jaw and neck, but also my migraine symptoms. The first morning after treatment I did not wake up with a migraine and that had not happened in over a year! In addition all of the staff have been kind and friendly. I drive an hour to get my treatments and this is worth the investment in time and money. If I lived closer Dr. Chellis would be my normal dentist in addition to treating my TMJ issue. read more

This was the best medical experience I've ever had. I was eating dinner down the street, and cracked my tooth in half on a tortilla chip. I googled "emergency dentist" and this place was right down the road. I called at ~7:10pm, and was in by 7:25pm. I was seen almost immediately by a dentist named Dr. Chellis. She was wearing a floral tie under her medical coat, and I felt very safe. She was quick, kind, and explained the situation and treatment plan in full. She put in place a temporary solution and was able to squeeze me in for tomorrow for a permanent fix. I was out by 7:40pm (a total of 15 min in office, 30 min from incident). I cannot say enough good things about Ballwin Dental Care. I reside in Florida but during a visit there to see family, my son developed very bad tooth pain on a Friday. I called several different dentists, all who just simply said they had no openings to see him until I reached Ballwin Dental Care. They showed extreme compassion to my flight and were able to get him squeezed into their schedule almost immediately. They determined it was an impacted molar and gave us several options including getting it removed immediately, the next day, or giving him antibiotics to see if he could manage until we returned to Florida to get to his regular dentist. Everyone was extremely caring, kind and thorough. If we lived in or anywhere within driving distance, Ballwin Dental Care would be the only dentist we would use!! read more

This place SCAMS patients with unreasonable costs. They will not calculate your insurance coverage correctly. As a new patient, I came in for a build up and crown. I was told my insurance would not cover anything and my costs would be over $1k. I had not used my annual maximum and my benefits will cover a certain percentage. Overall care is "decent". My family has experienced better service at other dental offices. My son is a college student, who lives on campus. He had an appointment in January in which he was late to; in which it exceeded the "grace period" I have the screenshot text of that. Understanding that my son did arrive (via UBER) to the appointment late, being accountable and taking responsibility he had to reschedule. No problem! The appointment was rescheduled with my son in office and via "text" with me that day for March 20, 2025 @ 5:30 PM. The appointment was confirmed twice since the initial scheduling on March 9 & 19 (I have text confirmation of that as well), however 3/20 Jamie communicated she doesn't know whom was engaging in the text; yet the appointment was supposedly changed 3/19 (the day before the appointment) to 4:30 PM, although WE confirmed the 5:30 time twice. Again my son is coming from campus in an UBER (an hour early to be on time for his 5:30 scheduled/confirmed time) yet due to Ballwin Dental Care not taking responsibility's for their inconvenience, by feeling the appointment could not be honored yet he could come back/wait until 7 PM or come back tomorrow from school. A UBER is not cheap nor dental services that we are sure to take care of balances due. The office manager is unavailable due to vacation and of course the doctors are too busy to handle such mess. Don't waste your time, there are other amazing dental offices in Ballwin. We will do Ballwin Dental Care a favor and find my son a new dentist office! read more

Gentleness is the most important thing they could offer, and they do. Affordable price for someone like me who doesn't have benefits at the moment is huge, and wow, they even offer blankets and pillows to make you feel more comfortable. Never ever had heard of such a thing. I really appreciate they didn't push to make certain decisions, but gave solid recommendations. Clean new building too. Wow, I think I struck gold on this one. My son chipped his front tooth skateboarding. He did not have a general dentist and I just moved back to STL, so I headed to FB and asked friends for recommendations. My friend recommended Dr. Kim. Although we weren't able to book with her, and due to the emergency, we couldn't wait. DR. McCarty saw my son the very next day. They have a coupon to help with the first visit which was SUPER helpful. My son is an adult and does not have dental insurance. The front office was super friendly and Dr. McCarthy did an excellent job placing a filling. I was EXTREMELY happy with his conservative approach by preserving the natural tooth as long as possible. It looks so good, neither my son nor I can tell and it's been months. I have since had my own dental emergency and saw Dr. Dan for an extraction, which was super easy and as comfortable as possible with gas, Netflix and headphones. I was so impressed with the assistant Ashley. This was my second time with her and she truly is gifted, caring and soothes your nerves. Losing a tooth is a personal loss and she recognized that. She has a big heart! Also, Katrina can color match and put on a temp crown like nobody's business. Fast forward and it's time for two crowns. I made an appointment tonight with Dr. Kim. My friend absolutely adores her so I'd like to have her do my crowns. Honestly though, every doctor on staff is wonderful. You can't go wrong at this practice On thing I love about Ballwin Dental is their flexibility with scheduling. They have early mornings, evenings and Saturday appointments. It's nice to not have to use too much PTO at work. The only thing I wished they offered were restorative in house dental plans for people like me who need a good amount of work. Very disingenuous on their pricing. I took my son for a cleaning and called and specifically asked for the price without insurance. I was told $89. I was absolutely shocked when I went to pay and was handed a bill for $223. No one could give me an explanation for why the visit was nearly 3 times the price I was quoted. There were no X-rays taken, just a cleaning that took less than 20 minutes on a 6 year old. Had they been honest about their pricing, I would have gone somewhere else. I have had multiple visits at BDC over the past two years and have been thoroughly pleased. Their level of care from start to finish has always been excellent. What strikes me as odd is some of the negative Yelp reviews here on their billing practices. I have never been to a dental office that has been more forthcoming regarding my out-of-pocket expenses. Each time they have printed (yes, as in "they put it in writing") the treatment plan and the costs for each procedure and I had to sign it. They have been careful to make sure I understood those costs BEFORE I had the procedure done. I'm sorry for those here that shared their frustrations but it is completely opposite of my experiences. I asked at least 5 times to make sure that they would accept my insurance. I was assured that they would. Long story short after my cleaning went well, I was told that my bill would be in the mail. Before my bill arrives I recommend my wife and kid go there too. Turns out that they in fact do NOT accept my insurance and I had to pay close to $1,000 for three routine cleanings. I attempted to contact their head of billing, Kim, I don't know how many times. Every time I called, no matter what time of day, Kim was always conveniently out of office. Have you ever wanted to rave about a dental practice? I haven't, until I went here. I was WAY overdue for my routine dental work, and when I called to make the appointment they were just so kind about it. I don't have dental insurance and the woman on the phone told me to check the website because they have some coupons for first time patients to help save some money and they saved me a ton! I showed up a bit before my appointment as they had requested to do paperwork, and I was greeted so warmly, and taken on a tour of the offices which I thought was very clean and modern, with lots of comfort touches, like movies, blankets, pillows, and even sunglasses so you don't get blinded by the light! The appointment itself was great. No guilt trip for how long I had been between appointments, just a really gentle but thorough cleaning. Really glad to have found a great local dentist. read more

I have been going to the dentist for a cleaning, and it is free two times a year with my insurance. I had an excellent dentist for a long time, but when he retired, we had to search for a new dentist, and we found this one, and it is closer to our house. It had good reviews, and for the new patient, it was a great experience, and it was free. But the second visit I went for cleaning they didn't say anything about the price and went right through for cleaning. But after mediocre cleaning, which doesn't even take 40min to clean thoroughly, I was done. Then when I came to the front desk to check out and go home, they gave me a bill for $130, saying that is the amount I will need to pay for cleaning, and apparently, my insurance only covers 80%. I was like, what? I never paid for the cleaning in my life. I left as soon as the receptionist lady went inside to talk to a manager. This place is a ripoff. They try to scam you on everything. They will come up with many problems that you don't even have with your teeth and charge you to the point you don't have money to pay--a horrible place. If you are smart don't go here. I am never going to this place. Sorry BDC, you are Ballwin Dishonest Care. read more

The environment was great. The cleaning was just ok. The new patient price was good at $89. But they said they normally charge $250 for a basic cleaning. That is more than twice what I have paid in the past. And a crown would be over 2K. I'll find somewhere else to go next time. I've been to plenty of dental offices throughout my life, but this is by far one of the worst experiences of my life. I originally went to this dental office because they had a great "first time patient" deal. 100$ off your bill after insurance. The billing lady calculated how much I would owe after my cleaning with insurance and the balance came out 0$. The experience was great and I scheduled my next appointment 6 months in advance along with appointments for my whole family (whom also had great first experiences). A week or two later I got a bill in the mail or a little over $100. I called them and they said it was a billing mistake and took care of it for me. Flash forward to my next appointment, along with my families appointments, 6 months later, we called in the day before to ask them how much it would cost us for cleaning without the new patient discount. They gave us a quote which was reasonable. After taking off work and coming to our appointments, they wanted to charge us more than what we were quoted. After sitting there for over 30 minutes trying to figure out who made the mistake with our quote, and coming up with a solution, we finally got taken back. The hygienist who cleaned my fathers teeth and was supposed to be doing a deep cleaning for him (which he paid extra for) did such a horrible job on it, that he left there with goo all over his teeth and feeling like his teeth could have been cleaned better using his toothbrush. For me, they refused to fix a 5 minute cavity that I had because "they don't have time" because of the delay that THEY caused due to the mix up with our billing. I had to take off work again for a 5 minutes appointment that could have been done the day that I was getting my teeth cleaned. After heading home that evening and hearing about the horrible experiences my family also had, I called and spoke to the manager. She was very rude and refused to be useful whatsoever. Instead, she flipped the whole thing on me and said that I owe money for my cleaning but they're going to "do me a favor and waive it". DO ME A FAVOR?! WHAT?! I specifically wasted over an hour of my time talking to the billing department before my appointment so that I know exactly how much I need to pay before my appointment. And I paid that balance full! They think they're doing me a favor by waiving the bill that their billing department miscalculated?? Then for my fathers incident, they claimed that during his first appointment that he went to, they did him a favor and cleaned his teeth more than they should have. The second cleaning is "how it should have been done". Also, they claim that he's no longer allowed to come to their practice unless he pays hundreds of dollars for a deeper cleaning than the deep cleaning that he paid for. These people are a joke. If you want them to try to rip you off and steal your hard earned money, then go ahead and go to their practice. read more

I have never been a fan of the dentist in the past but I think I've found a great group of people who take pride in their professionalism and care towards their patients. I hadn't been in a few years and when you start over with a new physician they have to go through all your history, etc. I told them I wasn't a fan and they took their time, they explained everything and they offered to walk me through anything I was unsure of. Dr. Simonds gave me the alternatives, and it was easy to choose what I wanted to do to get it fixed. She was able to start the work, take the impressions, etc., to get it fixed. Such responsiveness! Very friendly and professional staff. In the 15 years of patient of theirs, their care has consistently been top notch. Dr. Bob's focus is on helping you keep ever tooth you have. His other focus is on pain control. He uses state of the art equipment to virtually eliminate pain, even the initial anesthesia.
