Out of the 2 Cardenas in Riverside i would have to say this is my go to. The pros are that usually the staff is very nice and the prices tend to be slightly lower than other stores such as Northgate. Inside is pretty clean and they have a good selection of produce, Meat, and ready to eat meals. I also like that they have a self checkout. But the cons are that usually the wait time in the meat area is usually really long. I went yesterday and only one worker was helping customers. The quality also isn't as good as say Northgate or Stater Brothers but you get what you pay for. Overall a solid option for cheap produce and meat but i do hope they're able to higher more workers for shorter wait times. read more

Same worker Veronica I've always had a problem with Veronica the manager , I was getting bread and what she do ( walked in front of my shopping cart and just stands there so I try my best to avoid her and my cart barley tapped her and called me a ( Bitch ) out loudly , the employees there are super rude . For always helping me out at the self check out makes my time go so much faster there has been a couple times she got me out of the store quickly one I won't forget is when I was hurt couldn't really move fast enough cause of the pain and she scanned and put away my groceries and this last time Friday February 20 it was busy at the registers with only one line open I decided to go to self checkout still had a line but with only 3 items she checked me out quickly to help everyone get out quickly so she can assist the next customer she works hard and is quick with getting customers out I love that Cardenas you all gotta give her a raise and promotion read more

I like to come here and get their freshly made salsa and guacamole. They have a wide variety of fruits and vegetables in the produce section and they have meat & seafood section as well. I also like to visit their bakery section. They make breads and cake daily so it is easy to pick up some sweets for any occasion. Some staff do not speak English so you have to ask a few staff members if you have questions in their baked goods. They even have a tortilleria department where they make tortillas on site! I also drop by their cocina to see what meals or agua frescas they have. They have lovely florals as well so a good one stop shop for all your needs. read more

I've been coming to this Cardenas since it first opened, and I shop here multiple times a week, usually spending over $450 weekly. While customer service has never been the best, today's experience was especially disappointing. I was at self-checkout waiting for assistance from an employee named Imelda to unlock medication from the cabinet, since those items are usually locked. While I was waiting, I witnessed her being rude to an elderly woman who politely asked for help. Imelda told her that if she couldn't wait, she should go to a register. The elderly customer explained that the cashier had also been rude to her and mentioned the bad service, but there was no effort to assist her kindly. Shortly after, another elderly woman needed help and was trying to get Imelda's attention. She wasn't being helped, so she asked me instead. While I was trying to assist her, Imelda finally asked what I needed. I told her I had been waiting for the medication to be unlocked, and she responded with attitude, telling me to "pick it, grab it, and scan it" and questioning what I was waiting for. I was under the impression the medication was locked, as it usually is. There's no reason for customers , especially elderly customers to be treated this way. Respect and basic courtesy should be standard in any store. As someone who shops here regularly and spends a significant amount weekly, this experience was very disappointing. read more

I was waiting at the restaurant and was totally ignored by the workers but a man walked up to the counter and was helped immediately! I am AA and I don't speak Spanish and this is not the first time i was disrespected in this store. So disappointed in the blatant racism that I experienced. Also...from reading other posts, it is clear that this is not an isolated incident but a systemic practice of bias based on culture and race. It appears as if the response to posts is that racism is not tolerated...but it is because clearly after years of it being brushed under the rug by inept management it had become the very cornerstone of how you do business. No one wants to hear your sad tagline about wat you "believe." We need direct and specific action to alleviate this issue. Very clean Cardenas location compared to most I've been to. I normally don't wait too long in line to check out. Most isles are properly stocked and clean. I enjoy the variety of pastries they have as well as bread. I haven't tried food here but I have purchased their agua fresas and they're delicious! read more

They have everything you can think of for a store. Before the pandemic they used to do the taste testing samples like Costco on the weekends but not anymore.
