I purchased a half cow from 5 Bar Beef, who works directly with Leon's Custom Meat Cutting, so they handled dropping off the animal. I just went to pick up the final product. This was my first time going through the whole custom cutting process, and I was really impressed. The team was very helpful when they called me about cut options -- they walked me through everything clearly. When I went to pick everything up, the meat came back beautifully vacuum sealed and professionally labeled. Everything was super clean, organized, and easy to store. They even helped me bag it all up and load the boxes into my vehicle, which was a huge plus! One small thing to be aware of: I arrived during posted business hours and the shop was empty, but there was a note on the door to call. I called, and a friendly employee drove down and met me about 20-30 minutes later. No big deal -- I just walked over and grabbed breakfast at one of the neighboring Mexican restaurants while I waited. I didn't personally choose Leon's (my rancher/5 Bar Beef did), but I was completely satisfied with the overall experience and would definitely recommend them if you're having beef (or any other meat) custom cut. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they are theirs, they switched my good grain raised full beef with the worst chest, grisly. Greasy nastiest tasting beef I have ever had in the last 6 years I went to Hodingers. DONT WAST YOUR TIME AND MONEY. HORRIBLE. Not to mention over 30 pieces were not vacuum packed correctly. Great experience using them for the first time after I had harvested a deer and they were even kind enough to wait for me 30 minutes or so after the closing time on a Saturday to take in my meat, got my meat back a couple weeks later and couldn't be happier, highly recommend them! read more

FABULOUS EXPERIENCE!! Leila is a true lover of people and dots her "i"s and crosses her "Ts" -- She printed out a copy of everything i was to pick up and explained how to read the sheet. She kept one for herself and noted in pen beside each item placed into my car. They came out to my house to kill and slaughter my steer. They were on time and very efficient. They were transparent on prices and what to expect. The younger guy was easy to talk to and helped made paying easy since I forgot my wallet and we did payment threw Zelle. The girl in the front helped me decide how I should get the meat cut and what my options were which helped a lot since it was my first time getting a steer done. I walked to the back to use the bathroom and walking around you can tell they keep things very very clean. Cleanliness is very important to me and they had the place spotless. Brought in a wild boar for processing. Jonathan and team did a great job labeling and wrapping all the individual cuts of meat. A little warning if u have never had wild boar.....try for a female as you will end up with what is called "boar taint"?with a male. The meat smells kind of like iodine when you cook it. Kind of off-putting, males really only good for hams and sausage which masks the odor. Lesson learned for me......but again they do a fantastic job processing and even met us when they were closed to accept the boars for processing. read more

In June Leons slaughtered, cut and wrapped our 550 pound beef. The first night we tried T-bones, porterhouses and ground beef. The porterhouses were horrible!!! They tasted old and nasty. We then tried some again and the T-bone and ground beef were bad. Since that time we are hit and miss. It is now to the point no one will even try the meat. I called Leons and was told they never heard of a situation like ours, some meat is okay and some is old and nasty tasting. Talking with people I have been given possible reasons for the mixed meat. Some of our meat may have been swapped with old cuts or possible contamination to one side of beef. I am trying to get environmental health involved to find out why some cuts taste foul and some are fine and get resolution and my money back from Leons for the processing and replacement of the beef. We attempted to communicate on numerous occasions but were apparently blocked. This could have been avoided if they had taken my concern seriously. We have had a number of pigs processed over the years without any problem. read more

They actually do a great job butchering our deer every season. I'm giving them one start due to customer service. I drove 45 minutes to come pick up my meat that I had already paid for. I arrived at 1228. The sign on the door asks to call first due to Covid. The lady answered and when I told her I was there to pick up my order she proceeded to tell me I needed to wait because it's her lunch and her food will get cold. I told her I live 30 minutes away and I'll pay her extra if she can just put the box by the door. She responded that is will take more than 5 minutes and every employee is currently eating. umm ok. I guess I'll sit in my car in the ghetto dirty neighborhood waiting for everyone to be done eating. Maybe we should alternate our lunches so we can provide a service to people. I dunno. Seriously ridiculous. Wish I could shut down my work for a while hour so we can eat together. Not!! That's not customer service!!! read more

I have been doing business with leon's for 20 + yrs. From having them come get and process my kids extra 4H animals to my deer and elk and pigs. Never had a problem one. They cut, wrap, and freeze it all great. I have bought pigs, lambs, and beef from them many times and always got it my way, and at a reasonable price. read more

My first time using Leons and I supplied a nice big fatty wild sow. This is the first time I've ever had bacon returned from cutting a wild hog and I'll tell you it is delicious. Nice smoky hit, thick cut, and excellent seasoning on the meat. So far I've just tried the hot Italian sausage and it cooked up wonderfully. All of the cuts looked great and the wrap is top notch so I know this will stand the test of time in the freezer.
