I love this store because they always have fresh produce and bakery items. But foremost, excellent customer service. On one occasion I needed 2 dozens of mini conchas early in the morning. I was told that a fresh batch of conchitas were coming out of the oven in about 30 minutes, but I didn't have the time to wait for them. The store administrator Yuri came over and offered to deliver the conchitas to me at work as soon as they were ready. Yuri came through. The conchitas were fresh, warm and delicious. I bought four tacos ($1.25) this morning, around 830 am. The tortillas we're not warm... they broke in half as I took a bite. The quality of the food not so great. Really sad because I really like Cardenas and I was a regular here but I guess not anymore, they couldn't care less about customer service and it shows like no one is even answering the bad reviews and the unhappy people but I'm leaving my review to help others, I was a regular here I've probably spent $20 to $30 everyday since I like to get my food fresh, well I came today and headed straight to the meat department there was not the cleanest shredded meat so this young guy told me it'll take about 8 minutes for it to be ready so went to get more stuff and come back within that time, I standby and waited about 25 minutes people at the meat department just starred at me, without saying a word after waiting too long I walked close to the meat bin and it was full of meat so this people knew they refilled the bin but no body told me "hey the meat is ready" I couldn't be guessing also the guy asked me how many pounds I'd like when I first came so I was expecting them to let me know it was ready when I came back they just kept looking at me with a weird face I felt embarrassed, also the lady who helped me was so rude I asked her what this guys name was and she refused to provide me the name, I went to the head cashiers to speak with a manager one of the girls called the manager and she never showed up, I was so embarrassed, disappointed and felt useless because there's nothing that they can do to help you, such a bad experience. Becareful with purchasing meat from this store. I bought pork meat for pozole and the meat had a really bad smell. Luckily the sticker came off when I got in my vehicle causing the bag to open and I noticed the smell. Immediately took it back for a refund. I want to say for a latino American store how pleasant my shopping was there today was my first time there the staff was all great and nice. I was running a bit late to make lunch so I bought some pre marinated chicken to make some quick tacos for tonight. Omg the chicken was unbearably salty!!!! Omg soo salty no one was able to eat it. I have always been a supporter of Hispanic business and stores and shop at Cardenas and Northgate in LA area. I came last Sunday to get my parents a few things while I visited them in Rialto. I walked in and went to get some Mexican bread. Got my bags and waited for a lady to finish getting her bread from the glass case. I went to open the case and noticed the huge ass horse flies on the bread so I went to the next case and that was worse. There were dozens of flies in the cases and shoppers were still getting bread. I left the bags and got some sodas and left. I saw a manager walking around but just wanted to get out. This is honestly the worst supermarket in the area in regarding customer service. The selection of produce they have available is decent. You have to be there early morning if not, then veggies and fruits start looking a little roughy. I used to come here all the time just because it's closer to home, and I can literally walk to the store but the last 2-4 times that I've been here cashiers have the worst attitude with you for no reason. There's a girl in specific I don't know her name but she doesn't really speak Spanish . I kept asking her for bags and all she did was rolled her eyes at me so I ended up going to a closed choir lane just to grab bags myself. The ladies at the hot food area are a different breed, they go hand and hand on attitude just like the cashiers and they are beyond lazy. I've always shopped at Cardenas for all my ethnic food needs, Masa, tortillas, Carne,etc. On April 15th I went into the dining area and ordered tacos for myself and a bean and cheese burrito for my son. First off, we saw that they had Quesadillas on their menu, but it advertised Mozzarella cheese was used. Okay, I like Monterey Jack cheese on my Mexican food and Mozzarella on my pizza! Anyway, fine! I asked if they could substitute and they said no. So I said I'll take a bean and cheese instead. So the girl behind the counter asks me, "Do you want Mozzarella on that?", so I asked her, "Do you offer any other kind of cheese?" She said, "No". So I said, "I guess since you're not giving any other options, I have no choice." We I then ordered a medium soft drink and she said the machine was not working. So okay I told her I would take a medium and large Agua fresca. My bill came out to over 18 dollars for two tacos, a bean and cheese burrito and a med and large agua fresca! I then asked how much was the bean and cheese burrito. She told me it was not on the register so she charged me the price 6.99 which was the price of the meat burritos. So I questioned her as to why she charged me for a meat burrito. I explained that a meat burrito is obviously more and that beans cost like pennies on the dollar and typically costs less to make. She consulted with her co worker and she chimed in and said that, that was the cost of the burrito. I asked to speak to a manager. She told me her manager was not there. So I told her somebody there has to be in charge and I need to speak to who ever that may be. So the girl was doing some calculating on the register and told me that if she charged me for a side of beans, a tortilla and cheese that the burrito would be 3.99 and that I was right. More like what a bean burrito should priced! So I told her that they owed me 3 dollars back. So i heard her page the manager to give me refund. I waited and waited and no one ever came, nor did the girls behind the counter call the manager again. They just kept helping guests and I kept waiting. Finally, I went to the registers and asked one of the cashiers to call the manager for me. I told her what was happening to and that I saw the girl page the manager, but they never came. She asked me, "They only called one time?" I said yes and then she rolled her eyes and said, "They should have called more than once." She sent the bagger to get the manager and she came straight away. I voiced my complaint and she told me she'd fix it. She went over and asked the cook behind the counter what the price was for a bean and cheese burtito. He went to the register and told her 4.99. Ridiculous! I told her that is fine, just give me my money back. They refunded me my two dollars and change. I sat down to eat my tacos and saw the size of that bean and cheese burrito. I told my son," They wanted to charge me 6.99 for that puny ass burrito? I'm not even happy paying 4.99 for that burrito." I've gotten bean and cheese burritos from other eateries that cost under 4.99 and are larger by comparison! Poor service and portion not worthy of the price they charged! Admittedly, I am a huge fan of the Cardena's chain. When you first pull into the parking lot, the store doesn't look like much from the outside. In fact, it looks downright sketchy, as does the surrounding area. But once you are in the store, it's clean and spacious, proving the adage of Don't Judge a Book by its Cover. I find that produce tends to be cheaper at Cardenas, as opposed to Albertson's or Ralph's. The staff here is always friendly, so it makes it a joy to shop here. read more
