I must admit, at first, I was very skeptical. It gets nerve wracking when you have to go to a shop and trust that they do quality work. Especially when you haven't been there and it's a part for a classic car or a prized vehicle. I left my Four Barrel Holley Street Avenger Double pumper at the counter with the fella. I forgot his name, but he really did lack some customer service etiquette. I mean, I can be really rough around the edges, but this guy just had a smug and smart a#$ comment every time I asked questions. I wanna say that his name started with a "J." (Minus 1 star) Anyways, nevertheless I left my carburetor in their trusted hands. After my brief screening process I felt, even though he might be a dirt bag, he knows his stuff, which led me to believe that the staff have a knowledge for what they do. (I could hear other talking in the background about car stuff) Fast-forward to pick up day (two to three days later), I came almost at closing time, and a very nice fella helped me out as he was almost closing shop. Daniel has repeatedly failed to have fixed the Holley 4160 that I bought in July 2024. He blames my fuel tank but I sent Daniel pictures of the glass fuel filter bowl is clear and has no debris and the fuel system is new and has had 2 full tanks of gas ran through it. He showed me pictures of a gasket with small black chunks. I text, emailed and called with no reply. March 13th I receive an email from PayPal for $139.01, Invoices #12770. I never received a quote, an invoice to approve or work order to do anything. I mailed it the carburetor back he found the problem, which is not my gas tank but theolley gaskets eroding from the ethanol gas and the choke butterflies do not move. He asked if i wanted my carburetor back and I replied yes with my address and then he charged me COD with UPS of $169.22 when I shipped it on March 7th it was $21. I also text twice and emailed requesting for his BAR Number and he has failed to disclose those numbers. read more

I sent Dan my Holley 750 DP for my 68 Firebird 400 Feb 15, 2025). Paid Dan the 495.00 to rebuild it and then another 29.00 to have it shipped back to me and received it on Mar 3, 2025. When I put it on the car and went to started it up, it wouldn't idle, leaked fuel all over the intake (from the bowls), flooding the intake. Removed it and sent it back to him (again paying for shipping), then I was informed that a gasket's had failed. He replaced them and sent the carb back to me C.O.D. on March 13, 2025, with a 300.00 amount due. Tried calling him and he still hasn't returned my calls or text!!!! I purchased a rebuilt carburetor from this company in Sept of 2022. By January of 23 it was covered in rust. They are supposed to be coated with an anti corrosive coating during the rebuild. Obviously that step was skipped. When I contacted the owner, I received a ridiculous response suggesting my car was "extremely exposed to the elements" which is not true at all as I store my restored classic in my garage. He offered to spray paint the base if I shipped it back to him at my expense but who would trust someone to do the job right the second time if they couldn't do it right the first time ? What a bunch of Hackers ! So many issues regarding my rebuilt Edlebrock 4106 for my 75 Dodge Hippie van . Cant even list em all without blowing a gasket in my own brain ! After cracking open the job (oops sorry you'll void the warranty) and discovered they only replaced the needles and seats and one gasket for $200 cash. Nothing was set up correctly to specification , and parts were left out. They will make it look pretty with their sonic cleaning machine but it wont work right. Save your money and buy a new one . You will be almost be close to half the cost of a new one in the box . I had to buy a couple of rebuild kits and learned how to rebuild these on You Tube , a monkey could have done a better job . read more

Terrible experience by the quality of workmanship and employees. Put my new carburetor on one week ago on a Sunday. Drove it around the block with no problem. Park it back in the garage and took it out the following Saturday. Took about a good solid 5 minutes to get the car to start. Once leaving my house every time I hit the gas the car would stall help. I would have to feather the throttle to keep it from stalling from a stop. Once I got it out onto Main Streets I was able to get some miles on it. When I would let up off the gas and start rolling into a stop the car would shake and sputter sounding like an old Ford Model T. At the stoplight the car would try choking itself out. I was able to limp the car home. I ended up calling five other carburetor shops about it's struggling to start after five or six days of not starting the vehicle. All the shops that I spoke to all said that was not normal. All the other shops said after I prime the carburetor it should start relatively quickly and not several minutes. Monday morning I brought my car to their shop. It was still stalling out on the way there. The rough idle was not happening at the time. The Man Behind the Counter had the audacity to tell me it is completely normal to have the car struggle to start if I only drive it once a week. I have owned this car for several years and not once had a single issue like this. The carburetor I had built buy carburetor exchange was previously rebuilt 12 years ago. Owning several classic cars I will get a carburetor rebuilt on average once a year for my various vehicles. I usually use a shop in Lynwood and have never had a single problem with any one of my carburetors. The man who is helping me with trying to tell me it is prone to just Cadillacs and Cadillacs only. I told him that is all I own is Cadillac and I've never had a single issue like this. He proceeded to tell me it is completely normal and it is to be expected out of the carburetors that they rebuild at carburetor Exchange. These guys are the real deal. I spent countless hours trying to find a rebuild kit to do this myself, but what I ordered a few times did not match what I have. What do you do when you have a 1st gen 327 in a Toyota Landcruiser? Due to my 2bl Rochester not having any markings, took photo's and sent them in. They had my exact rebuilt carb in stock. Extremely clean, very pleased with all new internals and gaskets. What had me sold on this company is their long list of "what's been done to this carburetor" AND Live engine testing to preset the idle. Smelled a hint of fuel when I received the carb in a very well packaged box, so I know it was live tested. They also say "we can promise you the curb idle will be set for a plug-n-play set up", which was another big reason I chose these guys. I installed the carb, once fuel got past the filter and into the carb, it fired right up perfectly. It took a total of 2-1/2 tries to start her up. Had there been fuel in the carb already, would have fired up on 1st try. This is on an engine that sat for 7 months without being fired up. As they promised, idle was perfect, actually better than before. Since this vehicle is used off-road, I'll probably end up ordering another one to have as a spare. Definitely check this spot spot out if you need a replacement carb or rebuilt unit. Great facility, great customer service. They even had an extra choke bracket that I have been looking for, $10. Will be back with future carbs. $100 core charge, so bring one if you have it. 90 day replacement guarantee. They even said they would adjust my carb if I had any issues running it. A lot of old carburetors have warping and casting issues, so it's good to know they have a warranty. I went to a few other places within 10 miles and found nothing promising. Took it back to them twice and they said it was fine. Never would run properly on the car. Took the carb to have it vacuum checked at another mechanic and he found air leaks in every gasket. Finally talked to Joe the "manager" who was a joke. He was completely unprofessional. He would not listen kept interrupting , laughing and finally hung up on me while I was asking for a mutual resolution. BEWARE THIS COMPANY IS AS CROOKED AS IT GETS!!!!!!!!!! They said "mail back the carburetor with a letter that says repair only and we will only charge you $65 for repairs". So I did. Then they called me telling me that I owed $140 because they rebuilt it all over when it did not need it and then they started making excuses on why they did. Here is the kicker. They told me if I did not pay the $140 they would keep The carburetor. I got a e-mail telling me they will only send back my carburetor if I take the yelp review off. So I agreed. Dan I have noticed in some of the other comments, your response is "bring the car over" first I live in Lake Elsinore, how do I get a car that will not run right to your shop?. Also you are not a licensed repair shop, you rebuild carbs...I already brought the carbs back for you to fix...even your tech that was working on them said they were going to have to replace one of the bodies (after they were supposedly rebuilt). Dan, yes I am going to bring a 100k car all the way down to El Monte to have you guys work on it!!! The people working on the car is Extreme Automotive in Corona, they have won builder of the year awards time after time....they build, own and race some of the best and well known cars in the country....The next time I see you guys will be in small claims court...and not just for the cost of the rebuilds!!! LEARN FROM OTHER PEOPLE MISTAKES..... I have been collecting cars for the past 30+ years so consequently I have had a lot of business with vendors from hot rod builders, engine, transmission, rear end, wiring and carbs...PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TRUST CARB EXCHANGE to rebuild your carbs. This business operates on CASH only so when they screw up you have NO RECOURSE except small claims court. We missed the GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER SHOW due to the carbs not working. I returned them to the El Monte location and was told that they would check the carbs and fix whatever was wrong and that it would take a few days. Called again the following Friday and was told they were done, they asked if I was going to pick them up in Riverside or El Monte and I clearly advised them El Monte... Drove over 60 miles to El Monte on Saturday morning only to find out the carbs were transferred to their Riverside pick up location... Anyway had the 6 carbs installed back onto the manifold only to find that 4 out of the 6 were leaking internally.... DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, BUY NEW CARB instead of having these guys "rebuild" them....again a CASH only business and no recourse... I cam going to file in small claims court not only for the cost of the rebuild but the cost of the labor to put these on twice and test them,,,also sending a copy of this to the car club members and Better Business Bureau.... They said no problem it is on the shelf, but proceed to not ship it out until Thursday night, and STILL charged me $10 extra for faster shipping. Called every day asking for tracking number. Received it Tuesday, late for the 3 day weekend, and they will not return my calls or emails. AVOID! They never sent me a receipt or tracking number after multiple requests. Called to inquiry about a throttle shaft bushing replacing on a SU carburetor. Dan asked to send pictures over (which made me question their expertise, however I understand sometimes you need to see something to know for sure what you're working with). I told them I'd like to have the bushing replaced (I can provide the replacement part) or if possible, I'd like to ream the old bushing with a .010" over bit and run a one size up throttle shaft. This is a common solution to this very common problem these SU carbs have. Dan didn't give me much feedback on my suggestions and just told me to send a picture. I scratched my head because a picture is less than what I described in detail but whatever I sent a few pictures to him anyway. Once he received the pictures he told me that he doesn't work on motorcycles! First off, SU never made carburetors specifically for motorcycles, they were used on classic Jaguars, classic Minis, Aston Martins and many other classic British cars. I (like many others) adapted one of these carbs to my motorcycle. I explained to him what cars these carbs came off of, what difference does it make what it's mounted to? The carburetor was going to be removed from the motorcycle before-hand anyway. I still don't understand that. I'm glad he answered me the way he did because it's likely that he has little to no experience on these SU carbs, obviously. I ended up doing some more searching on Yelp and came across a classic British repair shop and gave them a call, the secretary took a quick description of what I needed and had a tech return my call. Once I got the tech on the phone he asked what kind of car it came off of and I told him I have it mounted on a motorcycle and so then he asked me what type of SU so I answered him with what type (HIF SU) and he immediately knew what I was talking about, told me they stock parts for that carb (since it was so widely used on many makes, years and models of classic Brit cars) and told me that I can come drop it off when I'm ready and he'd go over it with me. What bothered me was that after Dan confidently told me they can do it, then saw the pictures and said no, he also stopped replying to my messages. If he knew SU carbs he'd know that the bushing I needed replaced is the most common issue with them, he'd know that there are only 3 major types of SU models and he'd know they came from classic British cars. Glad I went elsewhere. 3 stars because I was even offered a chance to do business and kind of glad I didn't. It's more respectable to tell someone that you don't work on something so specific rather than assume you can and then turn the customer. read more

My '87 Corolla failed smog. Replaced/rebuilt everything I could think of: spark plugs, oxygen sensor, EBCV system, catalytic converter, narrowed it down to the carb which was not spraying fuel down the venturi but was squirting fuel! Tried it to rebuild it myself but no go. Must be a real serious problem. Ordered a replacement online at carb-x.com and in 2 days I had a newly rebuilt carb complete with mounting gaskets and a missing part I asked for. TIP: Ask for a couple vacuum port plugs just in case. My corolla runs better than ever, no more lousy acceleration and I can't wait to see what the HC/CO levels are! read more

I struggle with some of the bad reviews because my experience with CarbX and Dan was excellent. Three years ago, I mechanically restored a 1977 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham for my Dad for a gift - it was his favorite car when I was a kid. When I finished it, my brothers and I drove it 1200 from TN to FL top deliver it to him. I had replaced practically everything but the carb since it ran so well with only 45,000 original miles. Fast forward a few years and the car had some drivability issues. Turns out the Florida climate was the last straw and the accel pump diaphragm gave up the ghost. I couldn't find anyone locally I trusted to work on it so my brother and I made a plan to visit for a weekend and I would replace the carb myself. Trouble was finding a Rochester Quadrajet M4MC in stock and on the shelf. I tried ebay, Amazon, Summit Racing and ever carb shop in the known universe and each shop said that my carb was rare, they didn't have one or of they did, it waould take them 2 weeks to rebuild as they don't stock them already rebuilt - they rebuild to order. My problem was I only had a week before my trip. Then I found Dan and Carb Exchange. First thing he asked was if I had the carb number with me. Nope. Then he asked if I had the carb number stamped on the body. Nope. He asked if I had the make, year and model car. Had that, so that narrowed thing a bit. I knew the engine - closer still. Suddenly I remembered that I had taken pics of the carb during my restoration. I emailed them to Dan, he took one look at them and said - YUP - that's a Rochester M4MC for a Pontiac. Best news - he had one rebuilt and on the shelf. I told him my tight schedule and he said that if I ordered it that day, he'd ship it that day and it should be waiting for my when I get to FL. I paid the man, said a prayer and proceeded to prep for my trip. Fast forward 6 days. I arrived in FL late Thursday night, drove to my dad's house, let myself in and was greeted by a large, beautifully packaged rebuilt Carb sitting by the front door. IT MADE IT! Next morning, after a cup of Starbucks and a wait for sunshine (the car was outside on the driveway), I started rummaging through my dad's garage looking for tools. He had none to speak of. He did have the following. Rusty crescent wrench, couple of screwdrivers (also rusty), utility knife and a pipe wrench. Well, wouldn't you know it, that's the official carb replacement tool kit in the wild for anyone that's ever worked on an older GM V8. I had that carb swapped in 40 minutes with those few sparse tools. A few hours later, my brother showed up (he flew in from CA) and we went for a drive to top off the tank with premium gas and some HEET. He drove it a few years ago with me from TN so he knew how it drove before. This time, he was grinning like a little kid. The engine with Dan's rebuilt carb started like new, idled like new and purred like a kitten. It accelerated better and had more power. Transformed the car. That carb was ready to run, bolt on and I didn't need to adjust a thing. Long and short of it, I had a GREAT experience with Dan and Carb Exchange. I fell bad for his customers that didn't have the same good experience and I do struggle with the difference in reviews, but Dan said what he would do, Did what he said, met my timeline perfectly and made me a happy customer. All for about half the cost of the next closest alternative I had found on ebay but couldn't use because they couldn't guarantee the shipping date. Great Job Dan and CarbX. read more

Please, Please, do not use this company to purchase a carb. Bought a marine carb from them. Turns out it was not the right carb setup for my boat and ran terrible. Sent it back, they charged me to repair it, plus I had to pay shipping. Got it back, put it on my boat and it flooded out, so bad that I almost stranded out on the water and now I have fuel in my oil. Not sure what they did, but now it may cost me a motor. I should have just bought a new carb. All this and the service was Horrible. Called to see when it was going to be done and Dan told me if I continue to bother him, he would just box it up and send it back. Completely regret my purchase!! read more

I've had Carburetor Exchange rebuild three carburetors for me and I've been very impressed by their service. The guys are courteous and knowledgeable and have been patient with me, (and not condescending), when I don't understand something. I had one issue with one their carbs in the past but they handled it admirably. I brought the truck by and they built me another carb dialed it in and it ran beautifully. On a different occasion I got on their case thinking they messed up a carb, but they kindly demonstrated the carb for me and suggested other areas I look into. I'm not sure why this place got so many bad reviews. I just exchanged a Holley 2300 for a 1969 International Scout and the carb showed up clean, functional and preadjusted. I'm extremely happy with the results. I recieved an email from Omar befor it shipped (to Ohio). Communication was great. My Scout is back to tearing up the trail again. The only complaint is the gasket that was provided was the thin paper gasket nd not the thick one with metal grommets that should be on the vehicle... but no big deal. To the Pontiac Tempest owner (no name listed). It sounds like your Rochester Q-Jet sat around while your engine was being rebuilt. Carbs and Water Pumps have a habit of leaking after sitting around for a while after being in service. As for replacing your Q-Jet Carburetor with a Holley, It's a shame you didn't go with a Edelbrock, a lot less chance of fuel leaks and a possible FIRE! read more

Wow! had to say I was a little hesitant to do business with this place because of the bad reviews but now I'm glad I took a chance. Let me start by saying that Daniel is a little RAW, needs to be a little more subdued, at times when I was on the phone with him I couldn't finish my sentence before I was interrupted, enough said about that. I had done my research into buying a carburetor for my car on the Web and this was by far the best price out there so I was a little skeptical that the quality would be there. I had asked Daniel if I could take my vehicle to his shop to see if my carb was bad before I purchased one from him and agreed that that would be fine, I only needed to be able to take the carburetor off myself if it was bad and there would be $65.00 charge to check the carb. I turns out that I did need a carb for my vehicle. The quoted price was $ 185.00 for the carb. The next best price was close to $300.00. Daniel went ahead and credited the diagnosis fee as part of the price of the carburetor. i had to wait about 45 mins. for the carburetor to get rebuilt, but that was well worth the price of the carburetor. I was also informed as to why my old carburetor failed. It turns out since I rarely run this car the gas gets old and will damage the carburetor. I replaced the carburetor outside Daniels shop and the idle was adjusted and it was put back on the gas analyzer to ensure it was running good and I can say the car has not run this good in a long time. Scammers John directly told me that their carburetors would be luck to pass smog in California. I started with a truck that passed smog and ended with one that doesn't. In the idea of preventative precautions I research how to improve my truck. I found Carburetor Exchange (CE) online and spoke with them directly over the phone. The sales person confidently claimed that one of their rebuild carburetor would give my truck a boost in power, increase my MPG, and would not affect my trucks record of always passing smog. I received the carburetor and installed it in just a few minutes. The truck fired right up but ran very bad. I called them and they talked me through a few adjustments. 10 months later and it failed smog. The smog shop talked me through the test and pinpointed the problem to the internal adjustments of the new new carburetor. I called CE many times and was passed around over about two weeks. They said they could not stand by the 12 month warranty because I did not have the paper copy of my invoice. Then I found it, yea. They passed me to a technician, John, who requested to see my smog report. No problem. Then John said my truck did not pass smog because the report indicated that my catalytic converter was bad. A 1976 ford f150 does not have a CAT. He then said there are lots of things on the report that were bad, such as my egr, and injectors. 1976 ford f150s do not have these things. As I explained that and 1976 ford f150 does not have these smog parts and John became very upset. He said that every year California changes the smog expectations and that he knows for a fact that it changed and that there is no way my truck would pass anyway. He then said the carburetor I bought from them was out of warranty, but he would be happy to fix it for shipping and $75. I pointed out that their warranty clearly states that phone orders are subject to a 12 month warranty. He said I did not pay for that. Mine was only a six month warranty. Near shouting at me, he finally he passed me to a manager Joe. Joe was very nice until he spoke with John. Then he was very upset and told me they would fix it for $95 and that I only had a six month warrant regardless of what the warranty stated online. Then he hung up on me. The end. My complaint is being filed against Carburetor Exchange concerning: false business advertisement, (did not improve performance, MPG, cleaner emissions.) failure to uphold business policy or services concerning my warranty, (did not stand by their warranty or customer satisfaction policy.) Tried to blame the Smog Shop for the pore carburetor adjustment. read more

sent a 1970 Cadillac Deville 7.7 carburator in for rebuilding when it went in it was way ¥@£€ up and my mine it was trash. Carb Exchange in press the hell out of me not only rebuilding but tuning the carburator. when I got it back it was like new, bolted it on and boom the caddy started and around the block I went. Myself a 34 year mechanic give Carb Exchange an A+++ not only in rebuilding but customer service and support. I will be using this company again in the furture. I sent in my 69 corvette carburetor to be rebuilt here. I was a little hesitant but decided to give the shop a fair chance. I completed my order with Dan who was very knowledgeable about the product. Once the item was shipped he emailed me the tracking number. The price for the carburetor was very reasonable compared to other carb websites I had called. I received the rebuilt carb in about 3 days which was great because other places take about 1-2 to process their orders. The carb was completely cleaned out looked practically brand new. Inside the box included the gasket, invoice and return slip for easy return shipping. Once the carburetor was installed it ran great, no fuel leaks, no problems what so ever.
