The provider I saw was great but she told me she wanted to do a 24 hour PCR test and that with my insurance it would be 200 to $300. instead of getting results back in 24 hours, it took me three phone calls, a discussion with the clinical manager who promised me a call back and one other phone call to get the results seven days later. I very much regret agreeing to this test and I certainly hope I am not billed for it. I ended up just seeing my regular provider on my day off. read more

Before the new ownership of "Carbon Health", Dear Hubby and I have been treated at this clinic a number of times over the years. I'm not always so emphathic, but this time, I believe that I will be. After determining last night that I needed to visit an urgent care office today, I chose them first because of past history. When we arrived this morning, the waiting room was empty. Good sign for getting quick help, right? A short time later, I was heading for the exit. Why? Because the front desk receptionist said that they don't accept my supplemental insurance. That meant that I'd have to cover at least 20% of the bill, but that is why I pay for supplemental insurance. I said, "No, thank you," picked up my stuff, and left. DH was surprised at my quick exit. I ended up sitting in our car, trying to research info about covered alternatives from my insurance provider online. The app interface wasn't helping me find the info I needed. Ended up calling a rep to speak with a human. The woman who I spoke with said what the Carbon Health employee had said wasn't correct - as long as a medical provider takes my primary insurance, the secondary falls in behind. She offered to stay on the phone with me while I went back inside to get it straightened out, offering air cover for the receptionist. She said that front desk personnel aren't often informed on insurance options. To my mind, especially as a sick person seeking help, the practice should be able to train their staff to not turn people away with incorrect information. It made me disinclined to trust them on bigger matters. I told the insurance rep that it was one and done for me, given the incorrect info provided. Also, their hours are shorter than they used to be. All-in-all, the fit is gone from what it used to be. We moved on to try to find a better option. read more

This was my second visit to this location. Each visit was quick, efficient, and I felt well taken care of. CARLOS is so welcoming and caring. When I first came in December it was for the worse migraine of my life. I couldn't stand or see clearly. I just remember the guy who helped me (Carlos) was so kind. I was not doing well and he was quick to react and get me help. I went again today but this time for an earache. I immediately remembered him. And thanked him for the kindness he showed at my last visit. Today I had no choice but to bring my sleepy baby inside with me. He was again kind and insisted on speaking quietly because of the baby (I didn't ask but I appreciated it) that just shows how kind he is. This is my 2nd Carbon Health "urgent care" to visit. And it will be the last. Everyone in this office in Thousand Oaks (with the exception of nurse Anna and Clinton the NP) were on a level of rude that I had not encountered before. I was talked over constantly by Julie at the front desk. When all I was simply asking for was a letter to take to the ER so that I can explain why and what Carbon Health could not do. This request was over the top in their eyes. They would not provide me any documentation of their "policy" nor would they type me up a letter stating as such for me to take to the ER. In addition, there is nothing posted in their office/waiting area displaying the said "policy" these rude staff members were referring to. So much so that Audrea called the POLICE on me. Despite my rational request for a note and with a relatively polite demeanor from myself. Ultimately the police DID show up, and the front staff VIOLATED HIPPA be telling the officer without my permission the reason for my visit in front of other patients in the waiting room I am going to pursue legal action against this establishment for breaking HIPPA laws. The quality of care was only shown by Clinton and Anna. As for Julia and Audrea, they should not be working in a healthcare setting such as this. I went to.Carbon Health in Thousand Oaks for a worker's comp medical evaluation and to the follow up visits. All worker's comp information was sent to them. They showed me paperwork from worker's comp showing approved physical therapy. 15 months later they sent me a bill of $200 saying my card isn't up to date. It seems the billing department must have not followed through with getting everything taken care of through worker's comp 15 months ago. I don't recommend this company. I had other problems with them too. They are not professional. read more

I have submitted the EOB from the secondary as proof but they insist they didn't receive the payment. They must have a shoddy billing office. This has happened twice with them. I am done with them. Because of my past history I came to this location seeking medical help for a cold that lasted more than a week. My insurance is a high deductible insurance and I do not pay a copay upfront. The front desk staff told me that they would refuse service if I did not pay an upfront cost of $117. I called my insurance and they said provider has the right to charge an upfront copay even though this is contrary to the long standing practice. When you are sick what do you do? You shell out. I asked for a receipt before I left. Fast forward, a month later. They charged my credit card on a Saturday of a long weekend for an additional $142. I checked my explanation of benefit from my insurance and confirmed that my responsibility is a total of $142. So, this $142 is a fraudulent charge when I have already paid an upfront cost of $117. My responsibility should have been the difference of $25. They should compensate my time to sort out their own accounting issue. It is unethical to process a charge on a day that your office is closed. It is poor customer service when your office is unreachable to handle queries with no billing email provided in your email to patients to handle any disputes. This leave a very sour taste in my mouth. I shall avoid Carbon Health in the future for poor business practices. read more

Excellent experience. I waited an hour at exer urgent care in Newbury Park and the doctor was arrogant. I did not wait at all at Carbon Health. Dr Lu was wonderful. He listened and gave me medication. It didn't take more than 20 minutes. read more

I never write reviews and I hate going to doctor. I've been to this urgent care 3 times in recent months. Upper respiratory infection, pink eye and allergic skin reaction due to caring for young granddaughter. Each time they quickly diagnosed and sent script to pharmacy. My symptoms cleared up almost immediately. Office is no frills; looks like they just moved in. Staff is pleasant. Doctors are knowledgeable and work incredibly fast. Best part is you can book appointment on-line and have zero wait time. In and out under 30 minutes. Do not go for X-rays or something big. Equipment is bare bones. Highly recommend! read more

To take a swab test, he would have to send it out to get results taking 3-4 days. His examination was not thorough, and didn't have any type of explanation or reasoning. My adult son went in on Saturday October 5 th because he was sick. The dr saw him and did a few tests. she did not do a rapid test for covid 19. This morning, two days later the results came back positive to Covid. The reason I am writing this review is because she should have done a rapid test on Saturday with the symptoms he was displaying! Because she didn't, my son spent the last two days subjecting all of us to Covid. If she did her job he could have isolated on Saturday. Now it is wait and see for two adults that cant afford not to work and one immunocompromised adult. Moving forward, a rapid covid test should be protocol and if negative then send it out for more testing. read more

Something to know in advance: - You will need to download / install the Carbon Health app to your device and set up a profile before being seen - The app contains your health information, insurance, prescriptions, and payment info - Once you do this you can schedule an appointment, do a walk in, or see a provider virtually They have really put a lot of technology into the process and I felt they were able to more accurately capture medications, my symptoms, and concerns. Nurse took all vitals and doctor saw me quickly. Prescribed medications and sent them directly to my pharmacy. It was a pretty easy experience. The only negative was that it no longer felt like a family run urgent care. Rather, the experience was a bit sterile. What an absolute scam of a company. They give almost no information on pricing so naturally most people will choose the insurance option. Insurance covered a very small amount leaving me with a bill double what the cash amount would have been. After spending almost an hour on hold with the company (the hold clicked off twice) they were not able to assist or explain this at all. Their customer service was terrible. Even getting ahold of someone was awful. Many of their links for "help" or "support" on their website don't even work. Disappointed and will not be giving my business in the future. read more

My husband bonked his forehead Thursday afternoon and it bled from a half inch cut. He iced it for an hour and put a bandaid on it. He grudgingly agreed to go to Urgent Care in case he needed stitches. TO Urgent Care was the closest to our home. When we got there (around 5 pm) , a mom was taking her child into the room. The assistant warned me it could take an hour for us to be seen by the doctor. About 45" later, we were ushered in. Dr. Mundwiller introduced herself and we learned she'd been an Urgent Care physician for 27 years. I figured she's probably sewn a *lot* of stitches and my husband was in good hands. Six stitches later, nary a wince from him, and we were on on our way. Dr. M was great: personable, knowledgeable and caring. Staff was great. A friend of mine recommended Carbon so I went online at 445pm, booked a 530pm appt for same-day (T.O. location by Little Calf), and headed over. I was the only one there, was greeted by 2 friendly staff, who proceeded to enter my data, (including ID, ins card, etc.) into their system. A very speedy, efficient process. Then I went w/ the nurse into an exam room, she took my vitals, temp, etc., then Dr. Clinton Born came in right after. He listened to my chief complaint (a cold w/ flu-like symptoms and cough), and answered my Qs, and he had a definitive treatment plan w/ 3 Rxs that were not costly, which he called in rt away. This place is a scam. They asked for a credit card on file at check in. My husband was charged $500 after the visit at the Newbury Park location for an urgent care visit for ear pain. Not ear surgery. They used to be in our insurance network but the last visit was out of network. They didn't let us know before the visit. Hence the outrageous $500 charge. I am not surprised that the Newbury Park location is already closed. Don't fall pray for this kind of unscrupulous practice! read more

This office has become my Urgent Care of choice for many years now. Dr. Lui and Dr. Hussein have seen me and my husband on a number of occasions through the years. They are always kind, efficient, and perform the tests we need to treat accordingly. Recently I went and had my Covid antibodies checked and had results back within one day. The office staff and medical assistants have always been kind and helpful. We are thankful to have a wonderful Urgent Care to trust in. I am pained to say this, because I have found the practitioners here to be professional and capable, but the billing practices of Carbon Health are unethical and probably illegal. I am completely covered for care with Carbon with my insurance provider, but Carbon somehow put one of my visits down as "outside of network" and charged me for the full visit. I went through my provider to correct the problem, they sent Carbon a check which they cashed two weeks ago. However, just last week they went directly into my bank account WITHOUT my approval and took out what they considered the difference to be, even though I am fully covered and paid my required co-pay at the time of the visit, and in spite of the fact that they had received and cashed the check from insurance. It has now been a week of wrangling and circular conversations with Carbon Health to get them to acknowledge their mistake and refund what they charged me. And when they finally did, they shorted it by five dollars, claiming my co-pay is $25, not $20, which is patently false. I have begun to hear other stories as well, where they will direct withdraw from patients' accounts for fabricated visits and procedures that never happened. My advice is to stay far away and never give them a credit card. Update: Due to lack of response I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau regarding your practices. read more

I went to see a doctor today at this location and I must say she was absolutely phenomenal. All the staff are very caring and personable. They really take care and treating you and listening to what you have to say. The doctor I saw today was wonderful. She approaches the whole person not just the symptoms. I would love to see this doctor as my primary care physician, but currently that's not how my health insurance works. Anyway, I felt like the staff really listened to me. As a result, my experience was more than five stars! I was given the proper medication for my health issue - the medication was fully explained to me and and contraindications were thoroughly discussed. Fortunately, it's just a UTI infection, which is some thing that post menopausal women like me need to be aware of. Do not ignore the symptoms even if they are barely noticeable, as it can cause kidney problems and other health concerns if not treated. I am so glad that my doctor was aware of all of that, and took the time to go over all of my questions. read more
