I was looking for a car for my son and we found one at Carwise that he liked. The car had been in an accident, and Carwise agreed to let us have it inspected at a nearby shop. We were satisfied with the inspection, and essentially offered to pay the asking price if Carwise replaced worn brake pads. I planned to make a large down payment and take out a small loan for my son. However, the day before we met to finalize, I decided to try to come up with the funds to purchase outright. A transfer was pending when I went in, but I got approved for a loan in case the funds were not available. I went over the final price with the sales manager and received confirmation that I could forego the loan if the funds were available. The sales manager told the salesman to go with me to get a certified check along with what I thought was the invoice. My mistake in not checking the paper work or asking why the salesman wanted to go to the bank with me. I learned that I had the funds to purchase outright and asked for a certified check for the full amount of the purchase price. Only at that point did I realize the paper I was given was not the invoice we had agreed on but only referred to the down payment we had discussed. The salesman called the manager and said he would text the invoice. After a considerable delay, I received a photo of the invoice with a higher price. On inspection, I noted a $1000 charge for "paint and fabric". This was never mentioned at any point. I bought a Nissan Rogue here a couple years ago. The man who sold it to me, Stevie- smelled like the bar, cigarettes and beer pouring out from his breath. He dropped my key fob after he cameon my test drive with me and I have never had a working key fob. I have to unlock my 2017 car with the key... like were back in the 80s. My push to start has to be started with the key. ‍They made me leave a 5* "good faith" review as part of my purchase. They definitely charged me for some bullshit coating I didnt want or want to pay for. Someone who owned the car before me was glitter bombed and Carwise never detailed it. I am still finding glitter 2 years later. There was nothing good about this purchase and if I wasnt stuck with this shit ass loan, Id be buying something from somewhere else. Do not ever go here. I responded to a Facebook Marketplace post for a car that said 6000 out the door and asked if it was at CarWise. I went there and test drove it and again was told it was 6000. I wanted the paper to take to the bank and they came back and said the post was wrong and it was plus tax title and licence. I tired to negotiate more through text while at my bank. They later called and said they would not honor the price anymore because a mistake was made AGAIN and the car should have been 8000. I later seen it listed for 8900. I contacted the BBB and they lied when responding saying they never said they wouldn't accept the price on my paper, that I chose not to proceed. I have pics to back up more of this. read more

John was a horrible salesman. Set up a test drive for a car went there for my appointment and the car wasn't there, even though it says so on the website. They said it would be there in 2days. 2 days came and still no car. John proceeded to tell me it would be in the next day, next day came still no car or callback as promised. When I finally called back John said he would check into it and call me back in 10 minutes. Here it is 4 days later still no callback. Guess I'll take my 18,000 cash somewhere else. I didn't even mention the part where I walked around in the lot looking at vehicles for a half hour while the sales people watched me from there desk and not one came out and asked if I needed help. These guys are terrible and Rude, they took nearly 4 hours to work up the paper work for my loan. I brought W-2's to prove my income. That wasnt good enough so they asked me to text them pictures of my check stubs. I did as they asked and even though the photos were completely clear supposedly they could make them out. I re took the photos and still got rejected, this went on for days. i even had to talk to the lender and give them my employers phone number so they could call them for my income verification. The whole thing was a mess, The Finance lady. told me well she was having me sign paperwork that they call her Pitbull and if I didn't comply getting her my check stubs that she would come to my house and take my car. I purchased a 2015 Jeep Cherokee- Trail Hawk with 57,944 miles from Matt Sykes on March 10th 2023. 14 days exactly after I bought it the transfer case took a shit on me with my 31 disabled daughter in the Jeep. Drove it straight to carwise. They offered to have it looked at. Took it to Prescott Brothers in Princeton, Illinois who are amazing. They diagnosed the transfer case as SHOT. Carwise decided that they would take care of me by putting me in something else putting me in another 25,000 in debit. REALLY. I had no choice to to borrow $5000 to get my Jeep fixed. NOW I have hired a lawyer because Illinois has a state law protecting people like me from people like them. I didn't even buy a car from them, but I was looking at one. They said if I put down a $200 FULLY REFUNDABLE deposit they would hold the car. Literally the next day I text to ask for a refund and didn't hear back. Text three days later, still no response. Left a voicemail, still no response. Text to say I was contacting my bank to recoup the money and still no response. ​I have to wait until I have access to a computer on Tuesday to file for a charge back to recoup the money that Carwise said would be returned in two business days if I didn't buy the car. Had to replace a vehicle. I love that they don't negotiate -- took a lot of pressure off, but probably could have saved some anxiety if I knew before going in. We had a great first experience with these guys they took care of us very well and our car still runs great but then we made the mistake in putting our trust in them for our next vehicle and the experience has been the complete opposite. I can not express how much I regret buying a vehicle from carwise. In the process of buying, I repeatedly told them I had until a certain time (several hours there) and was brushed off and told to wait even after agreeing to a price and ready to buy. Eventually I had to leave (30 minutes after I said I'd have to) and told them I'd be back the next day to finish buying and the manager (bald guy) was noticably upset with me, after agreeing they'd be able to finish it in the time I had. This happened twice. When I eventually did get the car, a check engine light for the EVAP system popped on 2 days later, I brought it in and told them I already replaced the gas cap and reset the light and it came back. The guy took my keys and pulled it into the service bay, came back two minutes later and said "all fixed! You must've not screwed the gas cap on all the way" I literally just told him 5 minutes earlier that I already REPLACED IT! They wanted to make sure it wasn't the cap so they ordered another one, 6 days in a row I called, they said it had arrived, I showed up and they said "it'll be here tomorrow." Lying to my face, 6 days in a row. I ended up taking it to a shop myself and paying $300 out of pocket for it to be fixed, and now they're ignoring my messages and have hung up on me multiple times as soon as I say my name. CLASSIC BAIT AND SWITCH - DON'T GO HERE. I was so infuriated yesterday, I couldn't even make this post! I drove 3 hours from St. Louis to buy a car here for my daughter. They listed a car on Auto Trader for $15,500. I was prepared to buy the car, but I told the sales guy on the phone...don't jerk me around. It's long drive, so I need to know that the price is the price. Don't bait and switch me! He assured me that this was the price, and that there could be some wiggle room if the car was not in great condition. I filled out the credit application online, and the next day the day my daughter and I made the trip to Peoria. The car was in good shape, and we were ready to buy it until they told us the price was $17,172!!! They said it had a "paint protection" on it for $750 and $900+ in other various fees. This didn't include sales tax either! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! The sales guy on the phone wasn't even there and they acted like this was the price, take it or leave it. Didn't come down a penny! Not to mention they loan the offered me was a 6.9% rate on a 2016 car. I called my bank and in 15 minutes, I got a 2.74% rate. Rodney provided good sales service. However, after the sale the headaches began. More than 2 weeks past the sale, and the loan on my previous vehicle has NOT been paid off, and the loan company still knows nothing about the trade in. The inside of the car was filthy. It looked OK during the day when I test drove it, but the first time I drove it at night, I noticed a disgusting film over all of the windows and the clear portions of the dash. It appears that little to no inspection went into the vehicle. After about 2 weeks, part of the trim fell off the car I purchased. It was broken off prior to my purchase. Upon inspection, I found that the clips had been cut off of the trim, and it was with stuck back on with double-sided tape! I do not know if the dealership was aware of this or not, but even a cursory inspection should have noticed that this trim was loose. Calling the service office is a joke. I made multiple calls, most were transferred to a voice mailbox that was full. They also sent me to a separate dealer for new tires, as the ones on my car were badly worn. Even with a trade in they made me go to a shady loan company for a 1500$ loan ( I am still paying) not only that but the car I went for was a 2014 Toyota Camry (it was a nice car) when I had initially sat down with them they had said that it's about 12000$ (not good, but not awful) they then after signing papers had made it an 18000$ car which I was luckily able to take back and get my trade in vehicle back. I have NEVER been so disgusted with a dealership in my life. I made an appointment to test drive one specific vehicle. Not every other vehicle that the salesman THOUGHT he could sucker my husband into buying. My husband arrived on time for the appointment. Was shown two much newer more expensive vehicles. Once the test driving was done. The asst sales manager disappeared for quite sometime. His excuse? A sad one at best. "We are busy, I got distracted. My husband was going to walk. He then had to ask again to drive the vehicle he originally asked about. In my opinion this is extremely poor customer service, and I believe it to be a bait and switch tactic. My husband knows what he wants and will stand stead fast. Once the financial issues were ironed out, that to was joke as far as I'm concerned. $500 for a well used vehicle? Seriously? NOT! Over all my husband endured three hours of bull hockey. Again I believe it was poor customer service. Anyone I know, or anyone I meet that is considering your dealership, I will make sure they know just what my husband had to deal with. I was on the phone listening to the whole time. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER AT A DEALERSHIP!! AVOID!!! My experience with CARWISE PEORIA started when I found a vehicle I really liked online through their website. I inquired, through an email, about the vehicle and asked if I could schedule a test drive that week. Within a few hours that night I received a phone call from "Al" a very polite gentleman who asked when I could come in a test drive. I said I could come in as soon as they opened because I really liked the vehicle. He said it was being delivered but he would give me a call as soon as it got to the store the next day and that he wanted me "to be the first one to drive it". I thought this was great! The next day I got a call, from "Al" saying the truck was in and I could come in at 2 to drive it. I got there and told them I had an appointment to drive a truck I had spoken with someone about. Then they bring a different truck up. I said this isn't the one I was here to test drive and the guy responds, "oh our website just hasn't been updated yet probably". I explained to him that I SPOKE with a person on the phone last night and this morning about this vehicle. He asked what I thought about THIS truck. I told him honestly I felt lied to and spun in order to get me in here to be sold any vehicle. We left and not long after received an email stating "it was a pleasure doing business with you". The first time I went to the dealership I was promised a gift card for my "vip appointment" and was harassed thru texts until I got there and once I got there no one even was expecting me and I didn't end up seeing Shawn who apparently I was supposed to see. Although I did meet with Jeremy who was great! I needed a co-signer and left and did NOT receive what was promised to me which should have been a sign not to return but I had a great report with the salesman and loved the vehicle I had my eye on. We texted he kept me updated on my situation but he also hit on me multiple times and mentioned how hot of a body I had... we spoke after my co-signer did what they needed and Jeremy then told me to come in and he had a couple options for me... so I did again, drove an hour n a half and when I got there nothing was done... I waited over an hour for "the numbers" and got told that I needed a $4,000 deposit and could get a small loan for it. I declined because I was for one told they work on the down payment and I could do what we spoke about n make the next payment next week... they said it isn't possible. They lie n say they help down-payments or even say they are $7... I was upset I drove down for things I could have heard over the phone! For all the marketing they have, the dealership is ran down and shady! The salesman could also get in trouble for workplace sexual harassment for the texts that were very unprofessional!
