Honesty! I asked several difficult questions regarding dash-cams and quality of pictures. To my dismay the salesman couldn't answer most. Finally after several Google searches we were able to resolve the issue. Install took 2 separate trips. On first install i was charged $300 (2hrs) that only took 45min. I was told by sales person Robert that the part necessary to complete the package would be in the next day and the $800 covered everything, not the case! The second install took 30mins and an additional $100. Conveniently Robert, I was told just left so I couldn't argue the additional charge. I should have known better when they couldn't answer tough questions about their product. Integrity is the essence of continued return business, I guess they could careless! read more

so I went in on a Sunday and I spent 4k to buy 2 amps and sub with installation. They finished that day however they didn't adjust everything correctly so there was hardly Any base and the mids were flat. I live 2 hours away so getting back is a challenge but I call and they said it would take 15 minutes to adjust come in anytime. I went in the next Saturday and after waiting 30 minutes they said it would be another 30 minutes and I couldn't wait and had to go. I then come on Tuesday and I come in and say I have 2 hours and the installer says he doesn't have a laptop to adjust my system that I just spent 4k on and now have been back twice now and still haven't gotten my system adjusted and fixed. I now feel ripped off and pissed off. I would also like to add it took the installer 8 hours to install 2 amps. the subwoofer was the kicker in the flat box already just run 1 cable to the trunk and done. I don't understand these kids these days I use to install systems at circuit city and worked at a car toys when it use to be free install with purchase for the stereo and it think 45 dollars a pair of speakers 75 for an amp and that stuff was installed correct and fast. Hour or less for a deck. 30 minutes for a pair of speaker installled, maybe hour and a half for a amp install. So 2 amps 4 hours tops but now 8 hours and hundreds in install fees. same thing at car stereo city. 3 and a half hours to replace 4 door speakers and a pair of theaters and they charged 1400 dollars and I was going to spend 5k there for a 5 channel amp and again a flat 12 sub so 1 damn wire and they just did the speakers in 3 and a half hours still had over 2 hours left in the day and tells me they don't have the time. So thats when I go to car toys spend more money than I was going to at car stereo city to end up with a system sounding like it came from the dollar tree read more

Arrived on time, stood around for awhile before anybody acknowledged me. Finally got some attention, a work order was written up, and was told a tech would be right with me. Selling my Prius C, I bought a Groupon for interior detailing at Car Toys in Salem. $79 seemed reasonable for the included tasks: clean interior including plastics, ozone treatment, and vacuum floors. When I arrived, the counter person told me they "really don't recommend" that people use the Groupon for those services, that the cleaning isn't complete. I had them do the detail anyway, since I had already paid for the Groupon, driven 25 miles to get there, and waited for my appointment. The good: the dash was wiped down with a shiny, good-smelling treatment. Not-so-good: nothing else appeared to have been cleaned, including the door plastics; I cleaned them myself. I paid them 82$ to install a backup camera to work with my Garmin GPS unit. I even printed out the installation manual. Well they installed it and told me it was ready. Well I got in my car and the backup camera did not work. There is no way they could've tested the unit. I told them about this and they had a technician to try and fix it. After a half hour he could not fix it. So I came home and called Garmin and it was an easy fix. I will never go back there again and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Waste of time. We drive there from McMinnville (Salem location) for their big 35th tent sale. Before we left I looked online for the sub setup I wanted and their web site showed 5 units in stock. When we got there about 6pm, there were no other customers and two employees. I inquired about the products I wanted but was told they don't carry them. When I mentioned the web site said "in stock" he replied "our web site is usually wrong on that stuff". So I told him what I was looking for and let's get a price quote on all the components plus install. He points around and said "whatever is left on the floor is what we have". He then went back to his computer and ignored us for the rest of the time we were there. The other employee was busy moving boxes around the whole time from the front to the back of the store. I booked a car detailing through Groupon then added some additional special packages to the inside detailing. They said show up and check in at my appointment and it would only take 2-3 hours so I made plans with family as I live over an hour away to show up at 2 pm and for it be done at 5. When I called at 2.5 hours into the appt that I was heading that way to pick it up, they said it would not ready for another 1.5-2 hours! I asked to speak to a manager and there was not one present and there was no assistant manager either. I said I had no way to wait longer as I had made plans since I was told it would be only 3 hours at most. No communication to call me that it would be longer then told. They said they would finish cleaning all the plastic while I was on my way but got in the truck, there was still dust on the dash and they hadn't cleaned the cupholders or anything. Today I took my car in for an exterior detail with a Groupon. The cost was $84.99. When I asked what the detail would include I was told a car wash and window cleaning. What!! Everyone knows a car wash and window cleaning can be bought for $7.00 at any of the local car washes. Who would ever think an exterior "detail" would not include a waxing of some sort? They did offer me a their lowest level waxing for additional $107.00. No thank you. When I asked for the Groupon back I was told I would have to take it up with Groupon, which I did. When I told the "detailer" there I felt like I was being ripped off he walked away. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT get suckered in by Car Toys with their Groupon special. What a joke. This was one of the most disappointing experiences with a retailer that I have ever gone through... First of all, the Groupon has deceptive advertising... And when I got to the store, the "Groupon special", which stated it was $129.99 value, was their basic "express" detail package, which is listed on the Car Toys website with a price of $79.99. This is false advertising! This is deceptive advertising! When I arrived for my appointment, the sales person explained that it wouldn't even include carpet or floor mat extraction... when I explain to the sales person that the Groupon is listed as a $129.99 value, they argued with me back-and-forth and refused to give me a $129.99 value service. I said to the sales person and then the manager who I asked to speak to that I had made a special trip to Salem and driven all the way from McMinnville Oregon,about a 45 minute drive, just to get this done. I express my disappointment and re-iterated that The Groupon was false advertising and deceptive advertising. The manager didn't seem to care, as he refused to make any accommodations to write this wrong... I was told it would take an hour to an hour and a half to complete the "detailing". I left my vehicle to be detailed and returned to car toys about 2 1/2 hours later. When I walked into the store, there were no less than six employees standing around. There was one customer. I jokingly said "looks like you're super busy" We all laughed... Then I was told my car still wasn't finished. Not only that, it was gonna take another 45 minutes to an hour and a half to complete it. I wasn't laughing any longer. I was shocked. I told them no way... This can't be. I had given them 2 1/2 hours and they had only said it would take one and a half hours at most. I went and sat down to eat... I was fuming! I could not believe this! I returned to the service counter and told them that this was bowl crap I reiterated that I had been told it would take an hour to an hour and a half and here it was now going on almost 3 hours later, and I was expected to wait another 45 minutes to an hour and a half! It just didn't and couldn't compute! The manager, I think it's name is Brian, that I had spoken with earlier, told me I could go home and come back another day. I told him, you do realize I came all the way from Mcminnville, right? We did talk about this just a little while ago right? He admitted that yes he knew I came all the way from McMinnville. So going all the way back home and coming back was not a workable option. I said to him, why can't some of these workers that are standing around go help your people in the back that are trying to get the cards done... As I had been told that there were many cars waiting in the back by one of the other employees... That they were lined up... this whole experience was infuriating! There was no apology from the manager. Later when I went to leave One of the workers from the back that seemed to be in charge apologized to me. He said his name was Clay. He said if I came back they would make it right... I told him I appreciated his apology. Overall it was just a terrible experience. I was treated like trash. on top of that they didn't even vacuum out the back of the car or vacuum the floor mats, or even do a good job cleaning the windows. I am so disappointed and frustrated. This was one of the worst retail experiences I have ever had, And that's saying something! read more

So my wife got herself a new car. Included in the price was a premium sound system that is simply amazing. So I was jealous and decided that I wanted to get something. Maybe not as nice as hers, but something. I also didn't know how much this stuff generally cost and so many various options show up when you do an online search that it seemed easier to me to just go to various stores and look for myself. Well, I guess part of it is my fault, because I wanted to get sold, but the salespeople at Car Toys were pretty pushy. After pushing me towards the more high end things, they went down closer to my price point level, but were quick to throw in a lot of extra things that would cost a lot more to get the sound level they were demonstrating. For example, the cheaper speakers they would run without an amp behind it, while the expensive ones they would run with the amp. I had to specifically request to hear other types. When I went to leave, they worked "a deal." I didn't really expect it to be like a car sale. "How much would the price have to be to get you to buy today?" "We can finance you!" "Look, we can knock this much off..." Anyways, like I said, I guess I wanted to be sold. But I shouldn't really have been cornered by a salesman, the manager, and an installer. But I was. And I had a weak moment. The speakers sound good and all, but I can't help but feel I got a little railroaded. My fault, really. Afterwords, though, I had a problem. I parked my vehicle for a week at my mother-in-laws and when I picked it up later, I discovered my factory-integrated Bluetooth connection wasn't working. It wasn't even registering when I pushed the steering wheel buttons. After an extended period of panic, I figured it must have been after the install at Car Toys that something wasn't connected right. A fitful night of expecting to hear, "Where's your receipt?" (I had thrown it away when the speakers worked. Dumb, yea.), "Sorry, that's not our problem," "It's been a week, you'll have to take it to your dealer," or any number of other excuses, when I showed up they remembered me right away. They then took the car into the back, the tech looked at it, and came back out in about fifteen minutes. He told me he accidentally bound up the Bluetooth wire in the back and missed plugging it in. I got it all back up and working without too much issue and with no charge. Even though it was their fault, it was an honest mistake. And they fixed it right away with no hassle. That bumped up my rating from 2 stars to 3 stars. I don't fault anyone for making an innocent mistake, as long as they make good on it, and this Car Toys made good on it. read more

After the tech and the counter person looked at our vehicle Was told to bring our vehicle in Monday morning at 9:00 and they would do the work Showed up Monday @9:00 am to drop off the vehicle and have the work done , to be told the 1 tech who could do the work on our vehicle was off on Mondays . Really? 2 trips 1/2 hour each way, Monday trip with 2 vehicles , and this is how they treat customers? Found someone else to do the work Wouldn't go back here even if they were giving stuff away. I was scheduled out 10 days from my problem statement to Car Toys. I tried twice to have them move my date up. No luck. It was revealed that the installing technician on my rig no longer worked there--they wanted to schedule a manager to work on the rig. When I arrived, they treated me well. Once the triage tech had checked me in, I hung out to discuss my issues with the manager. I described my use case--wilderness, on the road, couldn't have my battery drained after parking 48 hrs. When did Car Toys start going down hill? Hadn't been there in a long time but used to get all my work done there. The price gouging is ridiculous! My daughter took her car in for a stereo install, the radio itself was $96 and just wanted basic installation. It was going to come to $356 after installation. Ridiculous!! Went to Best Buy and got the same stereo for the same price and was charged $86 for install, $182 total!! Plus they did a great job and it sounds great. I decided to give them a try for a car detailing for $175. It seemed like they just wiped the surface and called it good. Between the seats and basically every cranny was filthy. They sold me on the better package so they would use high grade shampoo, it didn't even end up looking shampooed. When I called about it their response was that I could bring it in again to be vacuumed. Definitely wouldn't recommend for this service, and would have expected a better response for the poor service done. I'm taking it in to my usual detailer that I've used in the past to see his thoughts on it. I bought a groupon for a car detail, great price. Brought it in and everyone was really friendly. I came back the next day to pick it up and there was a grease stain on my drivers seat. They tried to tell me that it was there when I dropped it off, and it was mud (seriously do you think I'm stupid?) We went over my drop off inspection paper and of course there was no mention of a stain at the time of my drop off. They said they would try to steam it out real fast for me.... Shouldn't they have done that already if it was supposedly there when I dropped it off?? They had my car for 24 hours! They got part of the grease stain out, but you can still see it. They did "the best they could" to get the dog hair out, which wasn't any better than what I could have done. But I guess it was nice not to do it myself. Still annoyed that now my seat is stained. Bought a "new" Kenwood head unit to install in my truck with the maestro wiring kit. Attempted to install but could only get limited sound. Reflashed the maestro system with same results. Attempted to call the store but no one answered 5 attempts in a row. Drove out to the store and was given a "new" Kenwood head unit. Installed unit with same results. My girlfriend took my truck out there to have them check it out.... initially they told her we didn't have an appointment - I had arranged with Judd to be there at 3. After working on the stereo, they told her it had never been flashed and would be $125 for the install and $85 to flash the control unit. She called me and I explained to the installer that the system wouldn't even turn on if the maestro wasn't flashed to the head unit with the correct serial number. Conveniently, they decided they wouldn't charge me for the flashing. Now, my remote start will only run for 5 seconds then shut off, my climate control system reverts to default after the truck is turned off every time, the head unit won't turn off with the key, my remote door locks only work sporadically...... and the Bluetooth name on the head unit is "lucys van"! Obviously this is not the "brand new unit" that I purchased. I called and set up an appointment to have them fix these problems. Appointment was cancelled today because they don't have a replacement unit that is "new in the box". Just went out to my truck and the head unit won't turn on at all now. The response from car toys was "we don't have a unit to replace it... they won't let me pull one from the warehouse. It's coming from Seattle and will be 2 or 3 days" NO STEREO FOR 2 TO 3 DAYS... HOPEFULLY. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY AT CAR TOYS!!! YOU WILL DEFINITELY REGRET IT! read more

What I wanted was a CD player in my vintage station wagon. What I got was a full day of incompetence and BS! They botched the speaker wiring and charged me extra for labor in doing so. They gave me various ridiculous excuses for not being able to do the job that was ordered, after assuring me that they could. Apparently, my dissatisfaction upset them. They spent some time looking at the floor, wishing I would go away, and NOT apologizing. Seeing that I was getting nowhere with them, I gave up and left. When I got home, I thought I would see how a CD sounded. I went to put one in and... no CD slot! They had installed the WRONG UNIT! I went right back over there, got more floor gazing, the correct unit installed, and still no apology! I'm sure their "30-day warranty" is as fictional as the "sale" they were supposedly having, and besides, I don't want those incompetent bozos anywhere near my car. Seriously great service! I bought a used car from a dealer, and the car didn't come with power door locks. They referred me to Car Toys to have some installed. I expected to be pressured, due to some of the other reviews. That didn't happen. It was a great experience. The price was less than expected, the service was great, the sales people and installers were all helpful and very knowledgeable. And cleaning my cloth seats would be extra. Not amused. After an hour and half, I asked to retrieve my water bottle from my car. I was surprised to see my car had yet to be started. I went to car toys trusting the name, big mistake 4500$ later I've got subpar equipment that keeps glitching out and then having to take my car in and wait at minimum 2 hrs over the time they say it will be ready. Customer service is not there at all, if there's a problem they just try to make you pay more. I got 2 navigation radio systems and backup cameras and DVD headrest for both my vehicles. And I've had to take my car back in three times now because of problems with their wiring or the headrest not working or the headphones not working all in all I will never do business with car toys again. If I could give this company negative stars I would. Went in last Friday the 19th to have them install a back up camera so I can see when I hook up my gooseneck trailer to the truck. It took them over 4 hours and CarToys installed the wrong camera in my 3rd brake light causing me to see my tailgate. The manager (Ansil) said he would not charge me for this labor, get me a camera that is adjustable, and replace my 3rd brake light. He told me he would called me when he has all the correct parts in. I explained to him I need this done by Sunday the 28th because I am leaving. I called today and they have not ordered the correct parts and were going down to the Chevy dealership today to get a 3rd brake light and that he will give me a call back. This was at 10:00 AM today and I did not hear back from anyone so I called back at 2:00 and was told the manager (Ansil) was out to lunch. At this time I was reall nhiy hot and laid into the floor salesman with harsh words and he replied that he does not have to listen to me talk the way I was and hung up on me. So I guess at Car Toys your 1st amendment right has been taking away from their customers. I look at it this way customer service has really gone down the toilet and if you are told something from a manager it's just hot air. What every happened to the customer is always right and without a customer you do not have a job or a business? Why should a customer have to call a week later to check on parts or service that you were promised? These parts are not hard to come by and anyone could have gotten them off Amazon a lot fast than Car Toys has proven their urgency to their customers (the thing is that Car Toys will not warranty any customer parts brought in to them to install). So here again I am waiting on a call from the manager at Car Toys. I talked to Ansel at 2:30 and now he tells me that he is going to refund my $100.00, replace my 3rd brake light, and does not want my business anymore. I asked him for his boss's name and number and alls he would provide was Jeff Johnson and that he will have Jeff call me. I tried to call Car Toys corporate off and you get a message to press 1, 2, or 3 for locations or stores in different state . WOW how does a corporation stay in business with this style of practice? There are plenty of stereo companies out there do your best to find one with customer service, quality work, and that will stand beside their word. You have been warned.
