The absolute best customer service and top-knotch work! Terry is THE BEST.

It is a charming place with a lot of older vintage cars, and I am sure they would do great with body work, etc. on a vintage car. However, I came inside the Car Bar in person, because I needed brake pads on my European SUV, and the dealership service was down a mechanic, and I preferred not to wait, as long as the price was comparable. So I wanted to know, could they work on my vehicle and the cost. He told me 150 an hour for mechanics labor. I had to get the pads myself, which I made the trip and got them. I called another European car repair place, as well as my out of town dealership to get an idea of the time needed to put the pads on, it was 1:15- 1:30 minutes mechanics time. I arrived at Car Bar, and waited 40 minutes before they took my car in. An hour twenty minutes later they were finished. To my surprise, he charged a full two hours labor, quoting the time I pulled in to the service lot. I told him, you said you were charging the time the mechanics work on the vehicle. He said, well, he has to check the computer and reset the computer. I said, well, that is fine, that is part of the labor. Then he said, he can't work on the car until the engine cooled, the engines get very hot. I said, the mechanic is not considered working on the vehicle, until he actually is working on the vehicle. I gave him ample opportunity to readjust the price, I told him exactly when the vehicle was pulled into the garage, and it was 1:20 minutes. (exactly the estimated and quoted times and prices given by the dealership as well as the other European Car Repair Center in the area.) So, $225 an hour is what I was actually charged, since the mechanic had the car up for 1:20 , not the $150 an hour quoted. Like I said, he didn't adjust the price to reflect the mechanics time. I am a price conscious consumer, which was the reason I came in person to ask pricing questions initially. I literally was charged, and rather than argue, paid the extra $100, 40 minutes of mechanics time, that was NOT spent on working on my vehicle. I really liked the place and the people, and it was fine with me to make the trip and trouble to pick up parts myself, even in the future, to give a local shop business. The brake pads are working good, no sensor issues, so the work was good. But I never have been charged for the time my vehicle is parked waiting to be worked on ( because the engine has to cool) I had driven an entire 2 miles to get there, I feel that was just an unapologetic way to tell me that he is overcharging me because I am apparently an idiot. Well, I was an idiot, rather than argue further, I paid. But they lost a customer for a 119 bucks unearned profit (explained below), and now they have this review. Cost comparison was actually much more costly to bring it to the Car Bar. Dealership quoted 495 out the door (includes part, labor any fees and taxes) vs. Car Bar 258 part ( I bought from dealership) , 300 labor, and was charged 40 tax, which I assume had an additional fee added in because tax would be (7.02 x 300 = $21.06 and I was charged tax at $40) no shop fee was written in, the $40 was written as tax, so blatantly overcharged for two things, total $598 vs 495, and would not have taken my additional time trip to pick up the part with the dealership. If the original quote was just higher, I could have made my decision to buy my own part and then spend more money and bring it to the Car Bar. But I was erroneously over charged for mechanical time and overcharged for taxes, and that leaves me feeling very dissatisfied, disappointed, and duped. read more

I went in today to test drive a BMW. I drove up in my $30,000 corvette, and was told that until I sold my vette, and showed proof of financing, I would not be able to test drive one of their cars. In other words, if you don't have proof you can buy, get out of here! (not in so many words, but that is what was implied) I know where I won't be buying my next car! read more

I haven't actually purchased a car here (yet), but I will probably go back in the next few days to get the one I was looking at. It's a family owned business been around for over 30 years. Very friendly & accommodating, IMO. I called looking for a specific make & model & they called me back within an hour saying they had found me one & brought it to the lot immediately. Very recently someone hit my car in a parking garage, they were awesome to leave a note and them immediately recommend The Car Bar, where they took a car recently for when someone hit their parked car. They were optimistic that it could be buffed out, Like I figured it needed a repaint on the front bumper. Well they had it back to me the next day and did an Awesome job!!! The one thing I was nervous about was matching the color exactly with the metallic silver. They impressed me so much I'm bringing her back soon for the hood! The owner is very friendly and his customer service is outstanding! No wonder they have been in business so long. read more

I stopped in to see if I might be able to buy two metal clips to hold my new license plate in place since snow from the northern Midwest had rusted out my old clips and screws, which made reusing the same clips on my new plate impossible. Not only did the Car Bar provide me with two new clips, but they installed them for me free of charge! Terry was amazing and I would absolutely recommend checking them out if you are in the area and are needing service or shopping for an awesome vehicle. This company has been here since the 1970's. They sell, service and detail cars, specializing in BMW and Mercedes. I have never bought a car here, but I have had my cars serviced here. They do a very nice job and are very nice honest folks. Often times they wash my car for free when I have something repaired, a very nice perk. The showroom in the front has an antique car in it and lots of memorabilia. It is a cool place. read more

The Car Bar is this great little Luxury Used Car dealer on Orange Ave. They've been around for nearly 4 decades! They offer used BMW & Mercedes among other luxury brands. They have great pricing and they offer service and body work. They even restore old cars! The owners Terry & Sue are very caring and are very informative. Bought a car there about 3 weeks ago and already the headliner is falling down, granted when I bought the car it looked perfect however I would never have expected to 3 weeks later have to be installing a new headliner. We took it to The Car Bar today and basically we were handed a business card of an upholstery shop and told this is who they would recommend with no offer to go half on repair or anything. I know used cars are sold as is but really is this good business?. I paid cash for my car and now it seems they are done with me!! I just wanted to express my sincerest and profound appreciation to owners Terry & Susie McKinney and The Car Bar. I have been a loyal customer ever since I moved to Orlando years ago and have grown very fond of this family run shop that treats each and every one of their customers like they are family...and they are a major region why my horse of a BMW has reached almost 300k miles! It is very much a credit to Terry who treats and cares for my car as its his own. Recently their head mechanic Jonathan went above and beyond not only the interests of the Car Bar, but as a good Samaritan in general! Last week my car started overheating while I was 30 minutes away in Lake Buena Vista and I called right as they were closing. Jonathan was kind enough to give me his cell phone number to walk me through how to safely check my car even though they had closed.. Then when we determined I was stranded, he was so kind as to come to my location on his way home to check the car itself...this after a long day of work in the Florida Summer heat!!! Luckily he was able to determine it was a mere little bleeder screw that was the culprit and helped me patch the car up enough so that I could drive it to the Car Bar safely that night so he would be able to do a more thorough check. As I said, I have always seen The Car Bar as family and never felt it more than this circumstance when I was stuck in a mired situation and Jonathan was so thoughtful to the service of the Car Bar's customers, he came out to help me on his own time. In this day and age, that definitely is something you sadly don't see very much of anymore. I truly felt I was not only a valued customer, but family. I just wanted to express to what a wonderful addition he has been to The Car Bar, and he reflects the kind hearted nature of the owners Terry and Susie perfectly!
