What a cool and cute place ! Booked a private room encounter for our son's Valentine's Day gift and it did not disappoint! We had so much fun and learned a lot of information about the capybaras. We had such a great handler and I'm so sorry we forgot her name. Maybe Kim, but she was blonde with blue eyes and was a wealth of knowledge about these cute little guys. We would do again and add on more experiences with lemurs and baby capybaras ! They had a social area aside from the private rooms that had two baby goats, turtles, rabbits, and a Wallaby. Then they brought in a baby kangaroo- his story is sad because his momma likes the water too much which was causing a skin problem - but he is the softest animal I have ever pet!!! We've now been here twice - once early on after opening and now in late November. We have done the main capybara experience both times and have enjoyed it. Our first experience was more fun because it was a little more chaotic (in a good way!). You were able to sit on the couches and pull a blanket over you and the animals could come up there with you. That has since changed - you can't sit down if you have the kale. I can only imagine they encountered some good reasons to stop allowing that, but it did make the second experience a little more flat. This time, though, their setup seemed to make a lot more sense. The couches off to one side and any animals in their habitats like off in a corner or in their own little sections. The way they had it set up allowed for people to space out a little better and have something to do in each area. I thought it was a good update overall! They swap out some of the animals, which is kinda cool to see some different ones - but we missed the giant Flemish rabbits this time. They will pull out an animal near the end - we go to touch the snake this time and last time they brought out the fennec fox. It's a really cool experience to be amongst all these animals you normally wouldn't. You get one piece of kale with admission, and each additional is $1. Generally, you would be fine for the 30 minutes with 2-3 stems of kale. There are some gift shop options on your way out. They have a nice small collection there - shirts and stuffed animals. Some staff seem more focused on making sure rules are followed and things are cleaned up, but there will be some that are more available to ask questions and hear about the animals, which is nice. There generally seems to be at least 3-4 staff members in the experience at the same time. Keep in mind - these are not domestic animals being kept in an indoor area. People complain about the smell, but it smells like animals. It's a bunch of animals in an enclosed space. It's going to smell like animals. It does seem like they may need to look into better flooring for the main animal area when they're able. After just a couple months, it's already showing major wear after I'm assuming the animals going to the bathroom. I'd imagine there has to be a more durable option that would clean up nicely and stay better longer. There were several animal bathroom moments during our second visit, and they were very on top of getting things cleaned up quickly. What a wonderful place. We elected the private experience. We arrived a bit early and were taken on time. There were four of us, aged 52 to 84. We were shown into a good sized room where we sat on built- in benches. Two young capybara were ours for 30 minutes. The cafe provided us with a young adult expert to ensure safety and also to answer our questions. She was a constant provider of kale to us. In turn, we used tongs to hold the kale and safely feed the animals. What fun! We learned a lot. Other animals such as parrots, ferrets, fennec foxes, a porcupine and a baby possum were also on site. We were in town for my birthday and I came across this place on an Instagram reel and we just had to come!! I've always wanted to meet Cabybaras! This was SO cool! The staff was super friendly and everything was very organized with the timing, feeding, instructions, etc. All the animals looked taken care of and they were all so cute! I love animals so of course I had to visit the Capybara Cafe! The experience is for 30 minutes. The staff here were really nice. They don't just have capybara's, they also had a tortoise, rabbits, ferrets, an otter, birds and guinea pigs. I think they had lemurs but it's a separate experience. You get to feed most of the animals some lettuce and pet them. They're all so cute and friendly. I think 30 minutes was just enough time to put them all and take pictures, I think any more than that there wouldn't be much to do. I think if you love animals and you really wanna meet capybara you should definitely come here! read more

They had a variety of animals including 3 capybaras, a 30+ year old tortoise, 2 baby goats, a fennec fox, a ball python, a chicken, a variety of birds, a naked guinea pig, two chinchillas, a giant rabbit, and a Patagonian Mara. This place is super neat because it's all indoors and there's different tears of lounges to see the animals. My partner and I went to go see the capybara lounge and there were four capybara's that we could feed kale snacks too, and then there was also a sea otter a couple birds and some tortoises as well as two other animals available for us to see. This place kind of just feels like an elevated petting zoo, and I gave us an opportunity to see how large capybara's are in size. I would definitely come again and try a different tier of their lounge access just to see what else they Have. The location of this place is also a little hidden. There are signs out front, but they are a little small. I did miss the exit and had to do a U-turn at the red light to come back. read more

We had a great time with Daniel and Mizu the otter! We did half an hour in the Capybara lounge and half an hour with Mizu the otter. Daniel was very knowledgeable about otters and Mizu, we enjoyed learning from him. All of the animals seemed happy and content. This was a fun birthday expedition for us and I reccomend checking it out! I would definately spend an hour there at least and wish we could have done the baby capybara experience, it looked like a lot of fun. read more

This place has been on my list for many many months. Finally I was able to get our family together for this experience. It was easy to find, with lots of parking. As soon as we walked in, you could see the animals roaming around in the enclosed area. There were half walls surrounding where the current session was happening. We did not make a reservation online ahead of time, which I would strongly recommend. There weren't enough spots for our family so we booked the following session. As we waited, we checked out their gift shop and watched others enjoying the animals. When it was our turn, we were given a wrist band and a brief set of instructions. The rule about not picking up the animals seemed to surprise many people around us. The person had just explained how we must use the provided tongs to feed the animals, as well as using a blanket if we were to sit on the couches beside any resting animal. All these rules were to protect us, as well as the animals. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by a happy hustler of a tiny goat. This guy was quick to run from person to person, getting all the attention and food he could. The two giant turtles seemed to be sleeping. There was a big bunny and several capybaras. We had a blast! The staff was present to clean and check in with us. During our session, there were only 8 customers including us, which made us feel like we had the place to ourselves. We paid for extra food and appreciated the staff's advice to cut the leaves into smaller pieces. The interactions were great and the overall experience was wonderfully memorable. It was expensive but well worth it. It's not everyday you can contribute to helping care for animals whilst enjoying time with such unique creatures. The staff made the experience even better with how they left us to enjoy the animals but were nearby whenever needed. Our most reluctant teenage family member talked about returning for their birthday, so you know that says a lot. Can't wait to return! read more

We are from Ohio and this has been on our list for awhile now. I was happy to find this while on vacation as my daughter is a lover of animals. Let's start with the staff....s/o to Brogan for helping me with my reservation(I'm sure I drove him nuts) and all of the others were great too. They volunteered to take photos of your family as well as tell you about the animals. There were a variety of animals such as turtles, a chicken, a baby kangaroo, goats, birds and of course the capys. I felt the half hour was perfect to see all the animals and the price was reasonable for my family of three. cannot recommend the Capybara Café in St. Petersburg enough! This was truly one of the most unique and memorable experiences we've had as a family. We booked private experiences with the baby capybaras and then a separate private session with a couple of the adults -- and it exceeded every expectation. The babies were absolutely adorable, gentle, and so interactive. Getting that up-close time made it feel really special and personal. The adult capybaras were just as amazing. Calm, sweet, and fascinating to observe. The staff took the time to share so much educational information about the animals -- their behavior, care, and personalities -- which made the experience even more meaningful for my kids. It wasn't just cute photo moments (although there were plenty of those!). It was educational, hands-on, and thoughtfully organized. My kids were beyond excited and are still talking about it. The goats do like to climb especially when there is kale around, so, try not to sit on the floor to take pictures. The capybara are really mellow and hang out on the sofas. Going to Capybara Cafe was a birthday surprise arranged by my fiancée and close friend. I was so freakin excited! I've always wanted to pet a Capybara. It was cool that they had other animals as well to feed and pet. Other than the Capybaras there were tiny goats with very big personalities. What a cute spot! We reserved the Monday 12:00-12:30 slot for the capybara lounge (is about $49/person) and is in the main shared area. Basically a very cute petting zoo with four capybaras, a lamb, a goat, two tortoises, two rabbits, two guinea pigs, and a snake. We could purchase kale leaves to feed the animals which they loved ($1/leaf). They give instructions on how to interact with the animals before going in and there are also private experiences if you have 4 or more people! The staff were very friendly and took pictures of us. To get there, it is initially hard to spot because I didn't see a sign - there is a large sign above building saying "EVENTS" which may be helpful to look for. Parking is in back in a lot going into a grassy area. Overall we loved it and want to go back to do the private lemur experience! read more

The check in process was a breeze, we had the first appointment of the morning so parking was easy even though they do warn you in your email that it could be a struggle so that's nice. I probably should have expected it, but was overwhelmed with the horrible odor of this place. I guess I thought there would be a better ventilation or air filtration system to mask the inevitable odor. The check in experience was oddly rushed with a very loud man directing everyone through. I found his demeanor to be unnecessarily aggressive and rude, as he was shuffling us all in and shouting a series of rules. Everyone was told to use hand sanitizer on the way inside, which seemed counter intuitive. Then we were given a set of tongs and kale to feed the animals. There were throw blankets available on the vinyl couches in case one of the capybaras or goats came on your lap so that they didn't scratch your legs (if you were not wearing pants). Every time one of the capybaras would mark their territory of have any sort of excrement, one of the staff members would come around with a rag and spray bottle...but it didn't seem particularly thorough or sanitary. Paying almost $65 per person for 25 minutes in the lounge seems really excessive to me. read more

As someone who has worked with rescues and traveled to animal education and research centers around the world, I hope my message holds some relative context for you. While Noah's Ark may be a rescue and rehab facility, the Capybara Cafe is not an animal sanctuary, and has NOT been created with the animal welfare at the heart of it. I was so excited to visit and then, my jaw dropped when I walked in... The amount of people and money flowing through this (wonderfully decorated) concrete event center space reveals a very different picture than the words on the website articulate. While the animals are clearly loved and cared for by the youth employed here, the animals are being exploited. There is no 'choice' for them in being placed in a fenced concrete room under fluorescent lights with 20+ people at a time being herded in and out of their space by loudly projecting teens every 30 minutes. THIS IS A GLORIFIED (domesticated) WILD ANIMAL PETTING ZOO. Of course, we all adapt to the environment we are placed in, yet that doesn't make the environment healthy for us. There is nothing natural about this experience for anyone. I made it a point to look for research--a room, an educator, a pamphlet--that actually shared more about how the animals got here, general welfare, and their natural environments and patterns. If it was available, it definitely wasn't a priority, as I found very little. Instead, I found a souvenir center where more money is being made. To Noah's Ark: While I intimately understand the financial challenges of providing materials and services for rescued and re-homed animals, their psychological wellbeing must remain front and center. Please check your north compass, as these gentle friends are being left behind in what should be a collective mission to create a safe, welcoming world for all beings. To fellow readers: I recommend spending your time, attention, and money going to a preserve or rescue sanctuary where the animals remain in as close to their natural environments as possible. In responsible settings, limited human presence provides respectful companionship, reflective observance, and helpful support for the beautiful beings we share this planet with. We came to Capybara cafe on March 20th for my daughter's 9th birthday. It was quite the experience. She opted for the baby capybara experience which costs about $55 a person for 25 minutes. The place was well-run. They have a nice size parking lot and an organized check in process. We started right on time. We had a helpful staff member there to inform us about the animals and guide us on feeding them properly. It is clear they care about these animals. We had a ton of one-on-one time with the babies to pet them, feed them, take pics. It was us and 2 other people so that was really nice. The other experiences look interesting as well. I would have liked to do the lounge and the lemur experience. My only issues are this, there is no real sign so it was hard to find and I thought it was expensive for 25 minutes. I know the money goes to good cause but I would visit more if it were closer to $35 a person. I don't really get the cafe part, I didn't see where there were snacks or coffee. read more

There is no food for humans it is not really a cafe at the moment, it's just a petting zone inside, but I still enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The capybara's goats and bunnies that you could feed were very well behaved very chill. Would recommend for our families.. the only thing that concern me a little as they have two macaws that just tried to square up with everybody and fight people. The staff are on top of them and we're constantly telling them to get back into their enclosure and there were signs that said they don't touch, but I don't know that they were safe to be around kids. I bent down to feed one of the capybara's and one of the birds try to come up behind me and square off with me. One of the staff members said watch out and scared him back but it just seems like maybe they shouldn't be in that space if they are aggressive and little kids are gonna be around. But everything else felt clean safe. The animals felt well care for. I did hear one of them say "it as it's a café for the animals" because there is no food. I've been to animal cafés in Japan, where I feel like this idea came from and they don't always have coffee. Also I feel like human food around the baby goats wouldn't go great. I bought my friend the exotic nighttime animal encounter with the foxes, ringtail cat, and skunk. I was really disappointed with the cat and the skunk. Our host held the animals the entire time and just showed us the animals. He kept saying we were there for learning purposes. I kept wanting to tell him, "no, I'm here because I want to interact with the animals." If I wanted to learn, I can look up information online. However, the foxes did save the experience. Those he did let run around and play. The foxes were so sweet and curious. They come up to you and interact with you. You aren't allowed to hold them or put them on your lap though. The animals do seem well taken care of though. I would never return though. $50 a person for 30 minutes of hearing someone talk for the most part. You're better off going to a zoo and seeing more animals. read more

Fantastic fun at the Capybara Café in St. Pete ! My wife and I visited the Capybara Café in St. Petersburg today. OMG - What fun! The young (about 1 year old) capybaras were incredibly cute and very easy to interact with. It seems they could never get enough of the kale that we and other guests fed them. The staff was incredible. They were happy to take photos/videos of us using our phones, helped move the capybaras onto the couch we were sitting and answered all of our questions about these cute rodents. I think we took over 50 pictures in our 1/2 hour session. In addition to the capybaras, there was a skunk, two Flemish giant rabbits and a tortoise, all very happy to take our kale from us. Loved it. This visit exceeded expectations. I gave this a a christmas present to a 10 1/2 year old. She redeemed her "ticket" last weekend and the 2 of us went. The visits are 1/2 hour long which is just the right amount of time. you leave before the luster has worn off. There are several capybaras as well as some other gentle exotic animals. there are places to sit if you are old or have trouble standing for long periods and the animals will sit with you for a pet or a scratch. there are knowledgeable minders everywhere who answer questions and immediately clean up the inevitable on the floor. When you first walk it does smell a bit "barnyard" but even Aliyah, my 10yo companion mentioned that after about 10 minutes you dont notice any more. so its really not that bad. They give you several free pieces of Kale and you can buy more for a buck. and as the animals - which are big - have to eat 15 lbs of vegetables a day to maintain body weight - they are always interested in noshing the pieces of kale you offer them. there are enough animals and they limit the number of guests per session so that there is no crowding or lining up for the attention of any of the animals so lots of one-on-one time.
