Yes, I pay a bit more for my short hair to be styled but she really knows how to "cut" thin, fine and graying hair. Cost is reasonable and I also tip her as she is good. Pricing for products is a bit higher than my budget but I get good options and will buy when I have finances. They carry a complete line of Bumble and Bumble products. Overall, my favorite place to get my hair done and also service with a smile and kindness. I love my salon in Old Strathcona.

Sadly that did not happen. Since I could not connect with her here I searched online and yelp for a place that could do something fun and had a great atmosphere. Adara is it folks! They have a great staff and vibe. It was recommended that I see Denise because I wanted to get some fun colours done (suggested by the gentleman who answers the phones, if I'm not mistaken he also makes a great cup of tea). Well, Denise is such a peach! She was friendly and informative right from the get go on top of being extraordinarily talented. I got exactly what I asked for! My colours were fushia, copper, violet and red underlights keeping my natural hair on top. She was really understanding when I got a phone call from a study I'm participating in- right when she needed to get the dye out of my hair. And also my SO coming in twice to check with our one month old (to see if we could pause so I could feed him). And after she trimmed my hair- I wanted to keep the length- and thinned out my over grown bangs she put only a light gel in my hair and some heat protectant spray. All of the products from the shampoo and conditioner to the heat spray smelt wonderful and the scents were easily identifiable. The products have a good enough die down that if you're sensitive, have a strong sense of smell or have sensitive people around you it won't be too offensive later. I might return to purchase a few of them because they really are lovely and my hair feels nice even after my restless sleeping habits... I mentioned the atmosphere before but it really was fantastic- the music was a playlist and was a genuinely pleasant mix- nothing too hard or exceedingly poppy. Also there was construction happening on the building which I hardly noticed. I did hear the front desk guy phoning people and warning them about that too- that's a business that's concerned with their customers relaxation! I would go to Adara again (if I'm in Edmonton) because it was an extremely good experience.

Her service was friendly and flawless. She listened carefully to what I wanted then went out of her way to make sure I was happy with the results. Her (environmentally friendly foam) foil job was done to perfection and her wash, scalp massage and hair handling was akin to a Gold-Seal chef creating in her own home kitchen. I knew I was in seasoned, talented hands, and best of all, I trusted Erynn's opinion, so I asked her advice about cut and styling, and she literally taught me step-by-step how to achieve the mop I want in 15 minutes or less. (Now it's my turn!) Thank you, Erynn, for an amazing job. I will definitely be back for your TLC.

At the beginning of this year, I decided that I was going to chop my hair off to where it was almost buzzed and I really wanted to go to a good place to get such a huge haircut. That's when I found M.U.D.! I was obviously scared because I've never been there before but everyone was so helpful and friendly and really listened to what I wanted. Erynn was amazing and made me feel so comfortable with the huge change I was going to get to my hair. Erynn's haircuts also grow out very well. I've only had it trimmed once or twice since I've gotten it cut and it still looks really good and has a really nice shape to it. I've recently gone back to her to get my hair coloured and she was very knowledgable about what was reasonable and what can be done with my hair. Overall it's a nice salon. I was a walk-in, believing I would receive a great, layered haircut because my daughter had…read morerecently had a cut done by the owner of the establishment, but this was not the case. I showed the stylist, being the owner, three photos of related layered hairstyles I wanted. She asked how short I wanted my hair, and I showed her where on my collarbone. I also said that it was not necessary to wash my hair, as I had done that, and a wet down would be fine. She said he got it and proceeded to use thinning shears on my hair. She said I had a lot of hair, which, had she wet it down, it would have been easier for her to see, but she insisted that it didn't matter that she could do a dryer cut just as well as a wet cut. I trusted her ability because she was the owner. Anyway, she dragged and pulled those thinning shears through my hair, not shaping or making sure there was a hair connection throughout my head. I paid $69.00 to have my hair completely trashed. The dragging of the shears through my hair damaged the hair cuticles, leaving the longer hairs fuzzy. The finish style turned out to be a thin shoulder-length style with a frizzy halo. It was the worst hair experience I have ever had. I had to have another hair professional clean up the frizz. I would not even give M one star.
