crab cake and crab cake

Best crab cake ever...no filling just pure lumps! It's darn shame that yelp requires me to type more because the only thing you need is the image to go along! Nice job Capt'n Chucky!

i dont have the most sophisticated pallette but when you compare the crab cakes here with the ones at wegmans, it blows wegmans away. i love wegmans too and was surprised at the margin. just get their signature one which i can't recall the name. there's one with old bay seasoning and i do not endorse that one. just get their signature crab cake and thank me later. oh also the guy in charge, i believe his name is frank, he has had the COOLEST past career in his life. ask him sometime. so damn cool.

Okie!!!! Boca Del Mar needs way more hype than it's getting. This is a Montgomeryville, PA gem that…read moreflew under my radar for way too long. Walked in and the vibe was already a win, warm and inviting, the kind of place where you just relax right into the vibe, or head to the large bar and watch some World Cup action. Went for lunch. Service was on point too, attentive but never annoying about it. Friendly and had real suggestions when asked about faves. They brought out complimentary ceviche and honestly, incredible start. Fresh, acid balanced perfectly so you actually taste the fish, clean, instead of just lime juice and spice. And can we talk about the rice? Sounds basic, looked normie, but it was somehow the most flavorful part of the whole meal. This flavor bomb looked plain but IYKYK that this level of execution just looks simple. The rice alone will have you thinking about indulging your inner fat kid and ordering extra to take home. Like the dessert that you'll likely skip because the portions are filling. Ps. Get the flan! We went all in and ordered the seafood chimichanga, steak, shrimp fajitas, and guac on the side. Everything was cooked exactly right. Nice char on the grilled stuff, proteins juicy and tender, nothing dry, nothing overdone. The sauces were bright and punchy too, tasted like rich Mexican flavors with that fresh from the sea quality paired with exceptionally grilled seafood and tender meat. If you're anywhere near Montgomeryville and haven't been, fix that. This place deserves a crowd.

My husband and I tried Boca Del Mar for the first time today for lunch. We were excited to try a…read morenew restaurant and were hoping to find a new favorite Mexican place close to home. Sadly, we both left disappointed. I ordered the fajitas Veracruz, a combination of chorizo, steak, and chicken. Fajitas are my go-to order whenever I try a new Mexican restaurant, so I was really looking forward to them. Unfortunately, they arrived warm-ish, with none of the sizzling you typically expect from fajitas. The steak was significantly overcooked, tough, and grisly. The chicken was okay, but the entire dish lacked flavor. The green peppers were also barely cooked. I ate a few bites, brought the rest home, and ultimately decided it wasn't worth keeping. I realize you don't know me, but I LOVE leftovers, so the fact that I decided to throw them away says a lot. My husband ordered the seafood tacos, which came with shrimp, octopus, and chorizo. He said they were okay, but also felt they lacked much flavor. After tip, our lunch came to about $60. Unfortunately, we felt that was too expensive for the quality of the food we received. We really wanted to like Boca Del Mar, but based on this experience, we won't be rushing back.

My kids are obsessed with the scallion bubble pancake and steamed pork buns, while I love the braised pork belly and Peking pork chops. Hubby's fav is the Hunan spicy pepper with pork. We all loved the special dim sum menu (I think they only serve it on Saturday and Sundays). The flavor of the chicken feet (don't knock it until you've tried it) was really on point and my husband said that was the flavor from his childhood that he's been chasing for years. The service was very polite and the food came out quickly. Plating and presentation were amazing. The atmosphere and decor were super chic and clean. The fresh squeezed lemonade is definitely worth trying, and their fresh buns with salted egg yolk are amazing! I know I see posts every once in a while asking about great local Chinese restaurants, and this place is definitely worth a visit!

The left wall was full of wooden racks loaded with beautiful loaves of bread. They were large and extremely tempting. As I was there 30 minutes before closing, they didn't have a full panoply of their creations, but still enough to satisfy me. One of the women behind the counters attended to me, advising what was still available. She first mentioned a half load of sliced rye, which I immediately said, "yes," to. The aroma was strong and I knew I would love it toasted with butter and jam. She next suggested their dinner rolls, of which she bagged a dozen mixed grains, but only charged me for six. She knew what she wanted to sell while fresh, and which would have longer shelf life until the next day. I also grabbed a few large peanut butter cookies to sample later with coffee. Hearth Baker had no pastry, so I wasn't distracted by cakes, pies or other sweet possibilities. I didn't see those sandwiches mentioned by others, but anything stuffed between their bread/rolls would have to be great. What I did buy was excellent. The rye had a slightly sweet, yet grainy savoriness that was delicious, both fresh and toasted. Perfect for sandwiches or accompanying soup. The rolls were also quite good, with semolina and other light/dark flours to modify their flavors. Also terrific just sliced and buttered and ripped apart by my incisors. Those peanut butter cookies were also awesome. A little crisp on the edges, yet chewy toward the middle. Plenty of PB taste. The Hearth Baker would be a great place to learn the artisan craft of baking breads.
