I arrived in the early afternoon, planning to get a pulled pork sandwich, but I was told that they were out of many items, and that was one of them. I'm not sure that they have the full menu each day or just smoke the meats a few days a week. I went with the Chicken Que, expecting tender, slow-cooked chicken that was shredded. I got what appeared to be a grilled boneless cutlet cut into 1-inch chunks, covered in some bbq sauce. Some people might like it, but I could just manage a few bites. I looked for an image of what my sandwich was to look like, but couldn't find anything like what I was served. The fries were also disappointing, as I like crisp fries, and these were not crisp. I didn't realize when I ordered them that they were fresh-cut fries. Not everywhere is good at making those crispy. I did enjoy the little cup of cole slaw. I'm usually not a fan of coleslaw, but that was good. I was brought mac n cheese too, and once the stuff on top was removed, that was pretty good too. I'm glad others like the food, but it wasn't for me. I should have gone with a burger or pizza.

Passing by this place on our way back from Outerbank to VA…read more Here are what we tried- Fried frog legs - 5/5. It's super moist and tender! Better than any other frog legs I had since it is usually tougher meat. Calamari - 5/5. Light batter, fresh, and soft! Fried soft crab sandwich - 4/5. The soft crab is amazing. The bread just relatively slightly bigger than the crab so there are bites I only have bread. But the flavor is very good! Oyster & shrimp basket - 4/5. This was the daily special item when we ordered. The shrimp was big and oyster was good. Just think the oyster is smaller than expected but good flavor overall. We had fried okra on the side, it was good but wish there is a bit more salt. Cocktail sauce, ketchup is placed on each table so it was helpful and convenience. We could not find where the napkins were for the longest time, then realized it was right next to the food pick up spot The food came out in reasonable time. Also learned that u can actually order ahead on their online platform then pick it up! I found it super convenient as our friends did that and got their food super fast!

On the market side, whatever is locally in season is available and fresh. I always bring on cooler on my trips down to the OBX to bring some home. Have gotten some amazing bluefin tuna that I made into poke here, as well as great shrimp and oysters

On this occasion, we walked around the Christmas Market at the Wanchese Community Center and had our lunch at O'Neal to end a six-year hiatus. We again had good seafood. Ms T had good, fresh and flavorful fried shrimp I had the catch of the day; Red Drum. We accepted the included coleslaw, and we both added fries. This was a good lunch. The seafood remained as good as before and the slaw is some of the better such around. They know how to give it a good sweet-sour balance. It was also fresh, not old and soggy as happens too many times. We also shared a cup of their crab soup that was not something we would ever order again. It is pasty, over-thickened with flour and almost totally unseasoned. We would prefer a creamy soup, that is thickened with cream. We added some salt, and it helped, but it was still wallpaper paste. There is really no saving this, they need to start over and lose the flour. We also felt the food was a little over-priced for what we got. I realize the days of getting a fresh seafood basket for $6 are far behind us, but over $50 for two baskets and one cup of soup is a little steep, especially when we both drank water. Ms T said she would prefer to return to Wanchese. The food is good here, but you have been warned about the crab soup and the prices.
