New enhanced flavor corn bread
Jay M.

Newly remodeled Captain Mardens looks great and nice lighting, seating , bar comfortable seats. Big changes beer and wine vs. the old restaurant. Corn bread is upgraded in taste and unique fish shape. Seafood Captain platter was excellent combo of fried clams, haddock with grilled shrimp, scallops. I needed more scallops , clams fresh , all fresh . Cole slaw needs more creamy sauce. Side of Brussels sprouts very good. Nightly specials in addition to menu . I see they made environment more dining friendly . Very impressive and some of the pleasant prior staff are still there and good to see them.

Lister Benedict (off menu, but they will do it for you)

Day one of vacation, and we kicked it off right with brunch. Let me tell you, this place set the bar high. Three of us split the special pumpkin waffles, which came with fruit and a little cream cheese spread. The perfect seasonal treat! If you're here with a group, just order it for the table. Trust me, you'll need at least three people to take down that waffle. As for me, I ordered the classic Benedict with well-done home fries. And those home fries? Wow. So unassuming but cooked to perfection with caramelized onions that made them pop. And the eggs on my Benny? Perfectly poached, thank you very much. Overall, a great start to the vacation--bring a big appetite, and maybe wear stretchy pants.

Fisherman's Platter

Went out to dinner here with my sister and brother in-law who live in the next town over and had been here many times. Was a little bit of a wait but it was a Friday night and the place was hopping, and after ordering the food my wife and I could see why. They waiter came over and gave us corn bread to start with, which we thought was weird instead of regular bread, but it was so good especially with butter. We then order the clam chowder and onion rings as a starter. Chowder was nice and plenty of clams in it. The onion rings were light and crisp. We then shared the fisherman's platter which were plenty enough for the two of us. The fish, scallops, clams and shrimp was nice and fresh, breading was light and not to corn mealy like other places we have been. Service was great, staff were nice and friendly. We will be back next time we are in the area for sure.

Met a friend for lunch. Fortunately the truck was gone so the restaurant was open for lunch. Service was really bad. Mid order our waitress was replaced. One of us had ordered. The second person hadn't so we had to order all over agin. Substitutions that waitress #1 said were possible were not possible according to waitress #2 The food was good but the service was the worst. Then apparently the restaurant closes for an hour after lunch and before dinner and we got chased out of the restaurant just as we finished lunch. I was told no - I could not use the restroom.

It's just a nice little seafood place in the area. Was in town for an event at the local Marriott, and it took me a while to find this place, as their listing is not very clear on Yelp. It's much better on other platforms. We had nine of us, and we ordered most of the items on the menu. Great all-around seafood options. I went with the grilled captains seafood platter, shrimp, scallops, and Haddock. some of the others went with lobster rolls and others with fish dishes. I started with the Calamari, which was just perfectly fried. Clam strips and an order crab rangoon. nicely fried in a fresh oil and not really loving the crab Rangoon. Then, an order of clam chowder. Needed something. It could have used a little more flavor and more clams. Our wait staff was excellent! made sure we had everything our large party needed and a full restaurant.

Beet salad

Captain Marden's Table is back--and better than ever. Chef Jordan Bailey (from Lumière) brings an awesome mix of the classic Marden's favorites and new dishes that totally impress. The specials are especially great. Feels like a hidden gem in Wellesley right now--definitely worth checking out!

Best lunch - steamers in butter and fried clam roll (whole bellys). Great portions and a relaxed, bright atmosphere. Corn bread a plus.

Very disappointing meal. What happened to this place? Mediocre food, skimpy portions, and incorrect order for take out.

I know the staff well at this store and loved shopping here for not only the convenience but the small town/local market type of environment. The Assistant Store Manager Jose completely shattered my trust. In July, Assistant Manager Jose stepped in to address an incident I had with a cashier on store policy (after I had already connected with corporate about it). He vehemently apologized and even purchased me a bottle of wine as an apology. He reassured me that he would speak to the cashiers about it going forward. On Friday, he denied it all and implied it was a one time exception. What upset me most isn't the store policy - I understand and respect that. It was the dishonesty and lack of clear communication. Had management politely communicated in July that this was an exception instead of providing me with a gift and false sense of reassurance it would have drastically changed the circumstances. A manager should stand behind his word or at least address discrepancies with respect. Instead, he denied our conversation happened and he did it in front of staff members I've built relationships with over years. After 6 years of loyalty, I feel completely disrespected. I'm heartbroken because this store meant something to me - it felt like home. I can't trust a business where management lacks integrity.

Perfectly whipped with the right amount of butter. Get them!! Everything on the menu looked so good it was hard to choose: - crab cakes had a really nice crust on the outside but I wasn't a fan of the shredded crab/stuffing inside. Lump crab would be so much better - we split the mussels which had a flavorful sauce and came with 2 pieces of dense grilled bread - calamari was okay - Love that they do half/full orders for the house made pastas. Shrimp limoncello was the standout out Love the decor and murals on the wall with the cool lighting and outdoor seating - high tops in the bar/low in the restaurant area - booths around the walls Lots of shared parking in Linden Square but it's usually pretty full.

Service felt disorganized and inattentive from the start. Nothing catastrophic, just consistently waiting longer than needed and off enough to make you feel like an afterthought rather than a guest. The steaks were the biggest disappointment. We ordered them at specific temperatures, but they arrived already overdone; we ordered medium and medium rare. They were served on plates so hot they kept cooking at the table. By the time you got a few bites in, you were basically eating a different doneness than what you ordered. The Manhattan cocktail came over ice, which is...a choice. Not the one I'd expect at a place positioning itself as a steakhouse. And then there were the Brussels sprouts, which somehow included a literal piece of lobster shell. Not exactly the kind of surf-and-turf surprise anyone is looking for on a night out when they're paying for a babysitter too. All jokes aside, I was worried for someone who may have shellfish allergy. Could've been catastrophic for the restaurant. All in all, it was a beautiful night out that deserved a better meal. Instead of "black and blue" the steakhouse way, I left feeling more like "black and blue" the emotional way--just without the satisfaction.
