Great food. Excellent crab legs. Excellent friendly service. We went here years ago and the buffet was kind of boring. I planned to pass on the buffet line and go straight for the crab legs. I decided to try a few items on the buffet to see if maybe they had upped their game. The have certainly improved and the buffet had great wings, mashed potatoes, coconut shrimp, butterfly shrimp, clam strips, roasted potatoes, scallops and of course great crab legs. We loved it! Deserts were good too. Key Lime Pie and Cherry cheesecake were awesome. We go to these AYCE buffets only once or twice a year and we were happy with Captain Jacks. read more

Theres SO MUCH food with so many seafood, fried food, ice cream, fruits, and much more! Cost is $50 per person but if you are a local you get a 3% discount! Highly recommend the mussels, the crab, and the strawberry cake! The sweet tea is perfect and the waitress (Anna) was phenomenal. She would check up every 5 minutes and clear any extra trash and bring clean shell baskets and fills your cups. We went when they opened at 4 and were quiet in the beginning but once more people came in it would get busy and kinda loud but not crazy loud. We have been coming to Myrtle beach for years. We always eat buffet one night to get our seafood and prime rib fix. This was the first time here and wow!!! It Was delicious the crab legs were hot and ready ,food kept full on the buffet. The prime rib was tender and juicy melt in your mouth, our server Jessie was on top of it...at all times. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences my wife and I have had. Nearly every item we tried was poor quality. The fried fish was extremely dry, overcooked, and covered in an excessively thick, hard crust. The hush puppies were hard, dry, and tasted like greasy balls of fried dough rather than fresh hush puppies. The salad looked wilted throughout the entire bowl, as if it had been sitting out for far too long. The beef was rubbery and difficult to eat, and the crab legs had a sour fish smell that immediately made us question their freshness. Unfortunately, things only got worse after we left. During the drive back to our resort, both my wife and I began experiencing significant gastrointestinal issues, which completely ruined the rest of our evening. Our bad we didn't investigate enough before picking this place. They don't offer any 'adult' beverages such as beer, wine, mixed drinks. I mean who doesn't love a beer when you're eating shrimp and crab legs? They offer steak on their hot bar - stear clear.... overcooked, sitting in grease, I took 1 look and walked on by. The dessert bar is far bigger than the cold bar, the hot bar and the salad bar. I did get a piece of the prime rib and that was very good but most fish was tasteless or looked weird. Also didn't appreciate the waitress hovering over my husband as he was paying the check on her little computer thingee. We always leave a generous tip, but to stand at the table while he is figuring out the bill and amount to leave is disrespectful and unnecessary. They also make you leave through their gift shop - guess they're hoping you'll buy something else after plunking down $50/pp for dried up seafood. When we were being seated, the waitress informed us that it was $49.99 per person, okay. From the looks of the pictures on their website and a short vacation, no big deal. Then she informed me that there was going to be an 18% service charge on top of the meal cost. It's a buffet , we serve ourselves. The best thing about Captain Jack's are the snow crab legs. On a recent Saturday night, they were well-stocked and steaming hot. My son and I had our fill. Unfortunately, everything else was subpar. Fried oysters and scallops were smothered and overwhelmed by excessive breading. Raw oysters were minuscule and did not look fit for consumption. Oysters were altogether absent from the unappetizing Oyster Rockefeller. Other various fish dishes looked coagulated and old under the heat lamps. The total bill for two people with soft drinks ran around $135 (18% tip was automatically added). Not worth it, especially when there are superior alternatives in the vicinity. We came here with a party of 8. I am not a fan of the calabash style but reluctantly decided to come anyways. The two stars were for crab legs and catfish alone, the fried catfish was surprisingly really good. Everything else was basically just fried mush. Some things on the buffet line smelled really really fishy. The interior itself is also incredibly run down. Some lights weren't on. The "gift shop" was a dark, hot room. There was a Hugh assortment of food, mostly fried seafood or stuffed with lots of breadcrumbs. The salad bar was really nice. Soup was ok. Grilled and poached fish was horribly overcooked. Fried chicken had clumps of breading. Prime rib was a little chewy. Crab claws were large but cool easily and not my favorite. There was a large display of desserts but the all seemed to be flavorless. For $45 per person , it was a big disappointment. The waitress was adorable but that couldn't save it! Absolutely do not recommend. Customer service is non existent. Food is subpar. Super expensive and they have roaches ! For over 300$ you'd expect to not have to eat with bugs crawling on the walls behind you. When I raised concerns about the bug they acted like this was completely normal. They didn't offer to move our seats or anything at all. They smashed the bug and went about life as normal. They however didn't forget to add their 16% gratuity even though I wrote 0$ on the receipt. When I messaged the company afterwards they insinuated that my party must have not been offended by the bugs , only me. Because they finished their meal. At over 900$ combined in our party. yeah, they're gonna finish it considering it was made perfectly clear nothing was going to be done. Crab leg fantasy land! This place was amazing, such a fun design and great food. You must give this place a try, it's all you can eat for $49. The selection of foods you can try is outstanding, yes many are fried but lots are not. We are crab leg lovers and this place is beyond amazing. The crab legs are boiled fresh and are not sitting there getting soggy and cold. You literally watch them being boiled and placed into the buffet tray. It was a continuous stream of fresh, hot, tasty crab legs for as long as you wanted. (Mind blowing lol) The rest of the selections were great also but our focus was the crab legs. They crowd was down during our visit so there was only 20 to 25 people there during our visit. The wait staff were fun and very sharp. What a great experience.
