2.75* (out of 5) Food: 4* Atmosphere: 2* Value: 3* Service: 2* 03/03/2023 It was a Friday during Lent so we were looking for seafood takeout options to take to our son's place for a late lunch. This place was right along the way, so we ordered ahead to pick it up on the way by. While I love trying new places and like to support small businesses, I feel that this place is going to need some management assistance to stay alive. For starters, my wife wasn't able to order online through their website and was tricked into signing up with a contract with another company when she thought she was placing her order for the food. Therefore, she gave up and called in instead...and while taking our order, the order-taker suddenly stopped taking our order and proceeded to yell at one of the other employees. Since we ordered ahead over the phone, I dropped my wife off at the door and waited outside with the vehicle running as I thought it would be a quick stop to pick up our food. After 15 minutes of waiting, I parked the vehicle and went inside to see what was going on with our order. My wife then informed me that the menu in the store was different than what she ordered based on what showed online. Beware that the in-store menu does not include beverages as is shown in their online menu and the prices are higher. Once the food was finally finished and we got it to our son's house, we found the food to be relatively good. The best part in my opinion was the Hush Puppies (see picture) with the Shrimp & Fries basket (see picture) also being tasty. We weren't as impressed with the Fish & Fries basket (see picture), as the breading was very dry and cornmeal like, with little to no flavor or seasoning. Bottom line is that the food was reasonable for a fast food restaurant, but the service is definitely not fast. Don't expect that they will be organized enough to have your food ready if you call ahead - I'd order at the restaurant and make sure you have about 15 minutes available to wait for the food. I've gone here about 5 times I enjoy Ocean Perch It is fried, but the light flavor of the perch sparks your taste buds and leaves and existing after taste. I ordered and extra tender as well consistently crispy and flavorful not dry. I love tenders, it's one of my first orders I order when trying a new place My notes Needs to be seasoned lighter, Seasoning is good, I'd say don't add as much. Not salty but could be seasoned lighter . Gyro bowl excellent.

I ordered a gyro today and was highly disappointed this is taziki sauce did not taste like cucumber at all it tastes like a bunch of sour cream with just some cucumber bits in it. It didn't even smell like cucumber and I know what taziki sauce is and have been to other gyro places but I was disappointed I paid almost $8 and some change for it I called and spoke to the manager Yousef and he didn't do anything about it to make it better I would never order that again Arby's is down the street. A good tzatziki sauce is the highlight of the gyro

Wow, words cannot express how happy i am that we live right down the road from Captian Hooks!! We tried this place recently and have been obsessed ever since. They are known for their seafood And chicken mostly, but if you wander away from that on their menu, you will find some gems like Gyro Cheeseburger, or my favorite the Chicken Cheese Sandwich. And of course you have to get one of their many choice of flavored lemonades. I love the Pineapple Lemonade! Oh i also have to add in how amazing the fries are, they are honestly the best I've ever had. Ever. Every employee is kind and seems to take pride in working there, we usually see the same round of staff so I'm assuming it is family owned. They also keep this place immaculate, everything looks super clean. This place is poppin around dinner time, i like to call and order ahead and they give a time frame of when to come pick up. Everyone needs to try this place because they have so many options, and truly its quality comfort food.

So this is my firdt time here but it has the same standard fried fare as every other chicken and fish place so execution will get them points with me as long as they follow my cooking instructions they will probably get a decent review. I got my order to go so i will finish this when i get rhe food home. I ordered a 6 wing dinner fried hard a perch and gizzard combo and some cheese curds ( for my wife) lol speed of service aint bad about ten mins...so im home and i have ate the food and i have to say ot wasnt bad. The fish was nice and hot the gizzards were fried nicely had a couple of the cheese curds and they were your ordinary frozen curds same everywhere at chicken spots in Mn. They do win points with me for including the bread that all the chicken spots are now leaving out. I will definitely eat here again.

Interesting variety of things to eat. Mostly fried foods, chicken, shrimp, catfish, tilapia. Surprised to see gyros on the menu. There are many different single sliced cakes and pies to choose from. I tried the shrimp and catfish, he chose the lamb gyro. Everything was good, fresh and hot. So much food! I could have shared mine with 2 other people. I hope this place lasts longer than the other two eateries before it.

Mostly coating on the fish. Good fries. 2 pc white bread for $9.99. Too little fish, too much coating, too much $. No thanks.

Best fries I have in in the Twin Cities. Their cheesesteak was excellent. I will definitely door dash from them again.

Looooooved my visit to Vivir! I spent half a day here and honestly I could've stayed longer. The…read moreenergy of this space is just that good! First off, plenty of private on-site parking, which is always a win in the city. Inside, the space is stunning. Large windows line most of the walls, flooding the café with warm, natural light. There's an impressive variety of seating depending on your vibe--couches, high-top tables, standard tables, bar-style seating facing the gorgeous large windows, and even solo setups if you're craving true alone time. Thoughtful and inviting in every way. The service was equally lovely. Monroe, the barista who helped me, made a spectacular Iced Brown Sugar Honey Latte--so good I ordered a second after I finished my first one. He was happy to answer all of my questions about the bakery items, breakfast offerings, and the horchata lattes that caught my eye. I ultimately went with the Chicken Chilaquiles, and wow... that was absolutely the right move. The dish featured warm, juicy chunks of chicken breast over crispy fried tortilla chips, topped with fried eggs, sliced avocado, beets, cotija cheese, and tomatillo sauce. The sauce wasn't spicy, but had just enough gentle heat to balance the tanginess of the green tomato beautifully. I also appreciated that the chips weren't overly drenched, allowing each ingredient to shine. Crunchy, flavorful, satisfying, and filling--everything you want in a breakfast. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the apple empanada. It may have been a one-off, but mine didn't quite hit the mark. Flavor-wise, it was good and accurately described as a slice of fried apple pie. Where it fell short for me was the filling-to-dough ratio. The filling was very minimal and almost paste-like, likely due to being reheated rather than baked fresh that day. I would've loved a filling with chunks of apples or simply more filling overall. Overall, the morning/afternoon I spent here brought me so much joy. I loved that there was no time limit--I was able to get a ton of work done while sipping delicious coffee, enjoying a slow, satisfying breakfast, and soaking in the sunshine. Vivir is a space that truly works for so many occasions: solo time, catching up with friends, family visits, or settling in for a few hours. I'll happily be returning whenever I'm in NE Minneapolis.

On the door I seen they had caramel apple horchata as a seasonal drink so I got that. When you order you have the option to order from the cafe & Centro so we also got the shot of the moment. Both were good. For sure want to come back and try more of the drink options.
