This in my opinion is the best fish and chips in the area. We are never disappointed. Always fresh.

Parking seemed limited at first, but there's more available in the back. Just a tip: be careful not to miss the entrance, since exiting is a one-way street and re-entering can be tricky. We arrived around 6:45 pm and saw a small line with two groups ahead, but the place is much bigger than it looks from the outside and we were seated quickly in a comfortable booth for four. The pub was clean, and I was especially surprised at how spacious and tidy the washrooms were--not what I usually expect from a pub, which tend to feel older and worn. The menu is huge, and TVs are everywhere--even in our booth. Between us, we tried a good range of dishes: 1. Caprese Salad with Steak - nicely balanced with pesto, though the steak was a little dry. 2. Fish and Chips - incredible portion for $18! Crispy, perfectly cooked fish with fries, coleslaw, and even a Caesar salad. The fries were well-seasoned (no ketchup needed), coleslaw was enjoyable despite me usually not liking it, and the Caesar was delicious. 3. Mexican Salad - flavorful, fresh, and generous in portion. 4. Tuesday Wing Special - wings were $0.90 each, so I ordered 15 with a Coke Zero. The garlic Parmesan was disappointing--dry and lacking flavor--but the Buffalo ranch wings were tender and spot-on. Service was friendly, though our waitress could have been more proactive with drink and water refills. Overall, I was impressed. Clean space, huge portions, good value, and a welcoming pub atmosphere. Definitely a solid stop if you're in the area.

When we went for dinner, it was pretty busy with lots of locals and families. Despite this, the service was great and they got our dishes served in really good time. Also, the portions and pricing is PHENOMENAL - like a seafood or steak main dish for $28-$37?? Amazing. For the 2 of us, we were very hungry so we ordered an EVERYTHING GRILLED PLATTER and GRILLED VEGETABLE & GOAT CHEESE SALAD to share. There was definitely enough food for us. The platter had a good variety of meats. The shrimp and crispy but airy light tater tots were my favourite. The quality of the meats for the steak, chicken, lamb skewers & grilled squid were definitely mediocre and a bit rubber, but still cooked & seasoned well. The salad was overall satisfactory too!

Hostess was cute and professional Some seats can get chilly as you could be right under a vent. Washrooms were clean The biscuits were airy, buttery and garlicky The Thursday special Dinner for Two was so filling and delicious. I just wished it could stay warm a bit longer on my plate The brussel sprouts were great The escargots were cheesy and garlicky but I've had better The accompanying bread pieces were toasted and crispy but looked kind of sad The chocolate cake was a generous portion and delicious Not a whole lot of non-alcoholic mocktail selection but they do have 2 dealcoholized beers. The utensils were quite worn out (ie. Can be seen on my knife handle), could be replaced Overall, I'd definitely return another time

Updated review July 2025…read more We visited Red Lobster in Oshawa. We were delighted to see the Crabfest menu which is on until I believe September. We were greeted by the same friendly server Dee. She has excellent customer service skills and knowledge on the menu. She made suggestions on the menu such as Crabby stuffed mushrooms, margarita flights, and steak and shrimp daily special $25. We ended up ordering the Mariner seafood boil with garlic and herb sauce and the steak and shrimp special. For appetizer we tried the crabby stuffed mushrooms. All the food was scrumptious and we were given bibs and gloves to keep us from making a mess with the seafood boil. The Mariners boil is good for 2 people. Next time we will just order this and one appetizer. The restaurant is clean and staff are friendly. Recommend making a reservation if you don't want to wait.

The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, and when we moved to our table our server was also great. Cocktails were fabulous and the ambiance of the place is very nice. My wife ordered this vegetarian squash dish and she loved it. I ordered the steak and the cook was perfect but I found the sauce overpowering. It's personal preference, I like my steak with just salt and pepper without sauce. My fault for not reading the menu correctly. The sides of purée and veggies were great. Overall KB hits it out of the ballpark and is so much better than the chain upscale eateries.

Every dish I had was very good. For this meal I ordered something different, the shrimp stuffed catfish. Never had catfish so this dish was calling me. The sauce was very tasty and had a nice kick of heat to finish. Catfish was good and the shrimp stuffing was more like a meat ball texture and not really whole shrimp like I thought. Service was very good. Our waitress was chatty and was joking around with us which was fun. Ambiance is more on the rustic side almost had a saloon feel, partly because of the old building but it was quaint. There was plenty of free parking in the rear which was convenient. All in KB is a good option if you are looking for an above average restaurant in the east end.

Came here for a birthday celebration in the evening. It was busy, I recommend getting reservations…read moreas it seemed like a popular spot among the locals on a Saturday. Service was still very attentive during this time. Our appetizers included: complimentary bread, escargot and shrimp, cajun calamari, and a large ceasar salad Our drinks: coffee martini, cosmopolitan, and lychee martini Our mains: trout and scallops, pickerel and shrimp, and seafood di mare The appetizers were great, and the large salad was enough to feed 3 people (could have fed a 4th as we had leftovers). The star in this bunch was really the escargot and shrimp. It came with a buttery sauce that was good with the complimentary bread. The oysters were also fresh and came with salsa and horse radish topping to choose from. The calamari, while good, was overshadowed by the others. It was meant to have a cajun taste, but I did not get that flavouring coming through, but it was still a good app regardless. For the drinks, the lychee martini seemed to be a favourite given the amount of alcohol while the cosmo seemed light on it. So if you're looking for a martini with a fruity kick, I'd recommend going to the lychee martini. The coffee one tasted more like coffee, but it may have been masking the amount of alcohol based on its strong flavor. For the mains, all three were excellent. The seafood di mare is very decadent and heavy. After eating so many appetizers, I barely had any bites, but it did make for some great leftovers.

It was up there with some of the higher end places I've been I would definitely come back here in a heartbeat. I would say this is one of the best hidden gems I've ever found 10 out of 10.

My best friend and I have been meaning to get together for a while. For a bunch of unforeseen life…read moreevents, it took a couple of months to find a date and time. I let her know that I had a weird food suggestion. I asked her if she'd like to go to The Keg. I saw a veggie shepherd's pie on the menu. I was intrigued. My friend is vegan. I'm suggesting that we go to a steakhouse. Luckily, she said yes. I did a search. I found this one in Oshawa, which is roughly midway between Peterborough and Markham. We met last Friday at around 6:15 pm. It's a part of Oshawa Centre, but on its own structure-wise, away from the physical mall, across from Shoppers Drug Mart and Hudson's Bay. I rarely go out on Friday nights. I didn't look to see whether we could do a reservation. Instead, we just showed up to try our luck. I parked somewhat close to the main entrance. My friend arrived ten minutes later. We met up and walked in. We approached the reception area. I asked for a table for two. The woman said that seating at the bar would take 40 minutes. It would be a 1.5-hour wait for one in the dining room. We went with the former. I left my name with the woman. She asked whether we were going to wait inside or outside. We went with the former. I got a buzzer. I liked the strawberry-cucumber-infused water in front of us. I should have got a glass, but we were talking so much that it didn't cross my mind. I don't think we waited 40 minutes. I saw the buzzer go crazy with lights. The female host grabbed the buzzer from me and led us to the bar. Service was excellent. We had the best female server who was attentive and friendly. We got the following items: - Sourdough bread (complimentary) - Tropical spritz (non-alcoholic) - Diet Pepsi (me) - Onion rings - Veggie shepherd's pie - Mini crème brûlée We got water to start. Considering how much we were talking and catching up, it was needed! We both ordered the tropical spritz. It had alcohol-free pineapple liqueur, passion fruit, non-alcoholic sparkling wine, soda, and a charred pineapple on top. This drink was delicious and so refreshing. The charred pineapple was yummy. I wanted everything, but in a larger size. I ended up getting a diet Pepsi. I needed another cold, refreshing drink, but cheaper. This one hit the spot. My friend was hungry and had a hankering for onion rings. We got some as a starter. They were crispy on the outside. The onion rings were sweet. It came with a mayo dip. My friend got ketchup. Both condiments were perfect. Our shepherd's pie came out next. It came with a large mixed greens salad. This meal was divine. The shepherd's pie had lentils and lots of veggies. The gravy was yummy. I actually used the sourdough bread to it up. The mashed potatoes were perfect on top. I loved the mixed greens salad. Everything was crisp and fresh. The dressing was bright. The salad had pickled the onions. If they were sliced thinner, I would have enjoyed them more. The larger pickled onions still had that raw burn to them. Although we dined in the bar, we could still hear each other. It was great. The downside was that we were at a long table. A group of five folks sat on the opposite end and made the table rock as if were were on turbulent waters. I ended up shaking the table, which caught their attention to not do what they did. I shouldn't feel seasick eating at a table when I'm not on water. Sheesh! I felt like dessert and got a mini crème brûlée. It was the perfect portion. I wanted a bit of dessert. I got it here. I liked the contrast between the crispy sugary top part of the dessert that was fun to shatter, with the creamy custard layer underneath it. The orange slice was the perfect ending to my meal. We split the onion rings. It was cool not paying taxes for this meal. I wish it were the case all the time! We had belated Christmas presents to unwrap. It was funny that both the server and the manager asked if was a special occasion. We said no. Meanwhile, we had these gift bags for each other... haha! We spent almost three hours at this eatery. We used the washroom before we headed to our vehicles. The women's washroom is by the wine display. The washroom looked modern. The stall that I used was clean. I liked that there was a hook for my gift bag. There was plenty of parking at this eatery. I'm so glad that we met up here. It has vegan and vegetarian options. It was my first time not ordering a steak at The Keg. It was cool. The food and drinks were yummy and I had the best company with me. (56)
