Unfortunately, this location is no different from the others I've visited. Everything from the food to the service is just meh. Don't be fooled by the full parking lot and large crowd of folks waiting near the entrance. They likely resulted in going to Applebee's for the same reason I do whenever I'm in Zanesville... there isn't much else. Beside a few locally owned outliers, this Applebee's is open late, has a full bar, and you know what's on the menu at all times. The customer service varies greatly depending on the day but if you're lucky you'll get a server that's a real people person and takes good care of you while you're there. Knowing that most of the food made here is frozen, shipped in bags, and thawed for serving, I never get my hopes up. Everything I tend to order is just average but the prices match. The "2 for $20" deal is always good and the happy hour specials aren't too bad. Applebee's is good at doing what Applebee's does. Very basic food at reasonable prices.

I only know this because there was an older gentleman at the bar who said his dad used to work there. The space is super basic with just enough decor to make it really cozy as well. It's situated on the river, so if you're sitting at the end of the bar you can look out the window and see the water. They've kept the place pretty much intact from it's original use, which I think adds to the charm. The bar tender was super welcoming and friendly, and so was everyone around the small bar. I only had their West Coast IPA, and it was on point. When I'm back in Zanesville I will definitely return.
