Palmetto Oyster House - Crab Cakes & New Orleans-style shrimp with hush puppies, fries, and cole slaw

Prob more like 4.5, but all in all a really great experience…read more The interior is divey in a really fun way. Plenty of space. Fun decor. Server was really nice and on top of things. I ordered a steak, broccoli and salad. The steak was a perfectly medium rare, very nicely seasoned and delicious! Broccoli was just steamed broccoli, but was still nice and crisp. Salad was small and the dressing was pretty bad. Asked for a different one and it wasn't much better. Very clearly food service bottled stuff. But really, that was the only glitch. Would for sure come back here if I'm in Sumter again.

First off, the crab cakes were loaded with fresh crab, perfectly seasoned, and had this amazing crispy outside. Seriously, some of the best crab cakes ever! The New Orleans shrimp were awesome too - that authentic spicy kick with great herbs and spices, every bite was perfect We also got the Mahi Mahi Club, and it was a solid choice. The fish was grilled just right, and with the fresh veggies, it was super filling Even the sides were great - the coleslaw had a nice tang, the fries were crispy (though a little salty), and the hushpuppies were sweet with real corn in them. Overall, Palmetto Oyster House was fantastic - great food, great quality, and that chill Southern vibe. Definitely check it out if you're craving some amazing seafood!

Hawaii Seafood Steak House - Shrimp and chicken

Tucked away in a shopping strip, Hawaii Steak & Seafood House in Sumter is easy to overlook from…read morethe outside, but once you step in, you're greeted with a surprisingly clean and spacious dining area. I didn't dine in this time, I ordered my meal to-go but I still got a good feel for the space. I ordered spring rolls and shrimp and scallop hibachi. The veggies was definitely the highlight of the meal. The seafood was cooked nicely, but it was the fresh, crisp veggies that really stood out and gave the dish its balance. The portions were generous, big enough that you're not leaving hungry, and maybe even with leftovers for later. The spring rolls missed the mark for me. They lacked the veggie crunch I was hoping for and didn't have that crispy, golden snap that makes spring rolls irresistible. Instead, they leaned a bit on the soggy side, which left me wanting more texture and flavor balance. Overall, Hawaii Steak & Seafood House is one of those spots where you'll walk out full and satisfied portion-wise. The hibachi veggies shined, but a few other items could use a little fine-tuning. Clean space, big plates, and a meal that's worth a try if you're in the area.

My wife ordered the Roman and loved every bite. My daughter went with the salmon bento box, which was both beautiful and tasty. And me? I couldn't resist the "Sexy Girl" sushi roll--tempura shrimp and crab fried just right. Yep, yep... YUMMY! From start to finish, everything was flavorful, creative, and well-prepared. If you're looking for a place in Sumter with variety, flavor, and that "we'll definitely be back" factor--this is it!

We were just passing through Santee SC for an overnight and sought out the Prime Rib dinner at the Lake House. It definitely did not disappoint! All the wait staff were super friendly and helpful. They pride themselves on scratch cooking (as do I!). Be sure to save room for dessert and plan on not being able to finish it. I gotta say, the OMG Carrot Cake just might be the best carrot cake since I got married so many years ago. Each slice is 4 layers tall and so massive that it's served on a dinner plate.

RVers are a "captured audience" since onecan walk from his or her RV to the restaurant. This is quite convenient. As well, the restaurant is located in a scenic environment. These are the two big pluses. As stated earlier, offerings are not tasty. They are way overpriced for what is delivered. One in our party had Yaya's cut of steak for 35 bucks. Take a look at the picture below and ask yourself a question: would you pay 35 bucks for this? The taste was not there. The portion size was not commencement for the price. Salads are not delivered as salads, but rather a bed of greens slathered with so much dressing that one can barely taste the salad at all. This place is a huge disappointment and a waste of your dollars. Don't bother stopping by.

My 88 year old father in law comes here weekly not sure if it is the boomers sense of dedication or what but they all still stand by this chain. I ordered my food to go online. The curbside to go parking is located across the parking lot and there was like 3 spots to park in. Once I arrived I texted the number of my parking spot. The restaurant looked fairly empty but even after the pick up time no one came to my car. I saw other people parking and then going inside to grab their orders. I ended up having to go inside to get my order, upon walking in a young lady handed me my bag. The inside looked clean and the environment was casual. My order included grilled Mahi, broccoli and brussel sprouts with a added skewer of shrimp. The veggies were the stars of the meal the Brussel Sprouts were very good and the broccoli was fresh and cooked well. The shrimp were decent a tad dried out but not bad. The grilled Mahi was not good, it looked like it was grilled in water and had an awful smell from what ever was used to grill it. I took a few bites and the fish was flavorless and the smell was so overwhelming that I couldn't eat the rest. Even the cheese biscuits were mediocre. Amongst the many dying chains Red lobster is definitely on life support. I'm not sure how long a reputation can keep a business open but the food is not what it used to be. I wouldn't come back.
