I don't normally review fast food places but I'll always make an exception when the food is a good as you get at this place. I absolutely love the fried fish. Most of the side are rather good as well but I usually just stick with the fish. Most of the time it's freshly fried and you just don't get that at the vast majority of fast food places. The service on the other hand is hit and miss as it is in most fast food restaurants and depending on the location. I'd rate most of my visits a 7 out of 10 with the few exceptions where I've felt as if I was bothering the employee but again this is uncommon and it's usually a pleasant experience. read more

I go to this Captain D's about twice a week after I work out to get blackened fish. It has been a constant issue that the grill is apparently down. I've gone online to the contact us now twice. I'm hoping someone fixes this issue. Today I even called before going to ask if the grill was working and was told yes, however when I got to the drive through they once again stated it was down. If they cannot work the grill then this should not be on their menu. read more

Service was friendly and fast, but the food had issues. First, they wouldn't substitute chicken for fish with the fish and shrimp meal and they don't have a chicken and shrimp meal. So, I ordered the shrimp sampler with green beans and fried okra. Several of the shrimp were undercooked and soggy with grease. The green beans were overcooked and smelled awful. And the okra was under cooked and bland. Definitely would not eat there again. read more

We went here at 8pm. Myself and my wife were the only customers in Captain D's at that time. It took 15 minutes before we were able to place our order. The food was great and dumped on the plates. I went here tonight for take out. The guy at the window was very friendly and the food was good except the fact that I asked for lemon and got lemon slices that had been eaten. This is very disturbing and now I don't even want to eat any of my food. read more

I am still so sad that they took Captain D's out of Baton Rouge (even though they say it will return again). My visit to this particular restaurant was one of no complaints. I ordered the fish and shrimp combo with mac and cheese and everything came out hot and as expected. The boyfriend said that he thought his fish was a little under cooked and that the breading was mushy, but I could not agree with him. The staff was courteous and the guy at the front counter was quite hilarious with his sarcasm toward the lady working the drive thru. Their menu was quite extensive, offering fried and grilled fish, shrimp, hush puppies and chicken. Sides included mac and cheese, corn, green beans and probably more than I can think of at the moment. I enjoyed that they had a counter of sauce dispensers so that you weren't limited on the amount of cocktail or tarter that you wished to have with your meal. They also had a couple of other choices, i think honey mustard and a cross between cocktail and tarter, but I was not a fan. read more

We have been here many times. Usually good. This time, however, we placed an internet order. When we arrived, I went inside to pick up the order (10 minutes had passed). I didn't really expect it to be ready; however, after waiting 35 minutes...I Finally got it. They weren't particularly busy. Only the manager was working behind the counter...taking inside and outside orders. While I was waiting, the family of one of the coworkers came in. There were 2 children in the party. The children did not appear clean, and they remarked that one of them had a fever. The coworker took the feverish child behind the counter where food was present. The child then came running toward me as I was seated and tried to touch me. I got up immediately. The trashy adult (father?) started verbally assaulting me regarding the fact that I abruptly got up. The coworker just stood there and watched. What a ridiculous situation. The workers at this establishment need to review infection control practices for restaurants. This place is terribly unstaffed with, evidently, very uneducated people. We will never go there again and recommend that no one else does either if you value your health. read more

I love the food at this restaurant! But however the service was horrible. The employees got my order wrong twice and argued with me about my food. What really was bad was when the employees in the back were saying horrible things about the customers, because our orders were wrong and they didn't want to fix them! read more
