Worst fried shrimp that I've ever had and the shrimp diablo were not good at all...I've never seen anyone fry them over grilling or broiling...just an oil saturated mess - no flavor at all. Very disappointed - for $20 my 6 jumbo shrimp and 3 diablos should taste much better than this. If I hadn't paid so much for the meal I wouldn't even have eaten it...that's how bad it was. read more

This place has not changed. Micheladas are still the best and of course you always have to order the oysters! The service is still great! And of course still affordable! I still don't like the parking. There is never space to park. It's always a hastle, you need to come in at the right times. Wasn't really impress with the place had a bigger expectations with the reviews. The service was horrible was feeling rushed and it wasn't that busy. Order from the kids menu for my child and it came with a drink they didn't even bring me a drink or asked what kind did I want. I waited a while and I had to go up to her and remind her. The food was ok nothing wow and I ordered a michelada mug was pretty small couldn't even pour my whole beer in it. The oysters is pretty cheap compared to most places in the houston area but they don't do a very good job at cleaning it. I gave this place one star because they had Mexican Coke. The oysters on the half shell were tasteless as were the boiled shrimp. I even put half the horseradish container in the red sauce and it had no kick or taste whatsoever! Really? That amount would normally have opened my sinuses but nothing! I literally could only choke down 2 oysters and shrimp. They didn't even ask if anything was wrong. I guess they don't care. Maybe I should have given a second star since we didn't get sick. I mostly get a bowl of soup and a basket of calamari but today I wasn't feeling calamari so got the shrimp basket which comes with jumbo shrimp, hush puppies, French fries and garlic bread. I enjoyed my meal especially since I had great service. Ricky is the man for the service read more

The indoor dining area needs to be freshened like most restaurants in the area. Too many people and the areas get overused. The tea was too weak and the coca cola was terribly sweet and had a bad flavor. I was looking forward to a fresh shrimp basket, the frys and hush puppies were excellent but the shrimp were flattened and over cooked. I told the waiter he shouldn't charge for the coca cola and he shrugged his shoulders as if to say too bad. First of all the atmosphere is awesome! It does a great job of making you feel like you are right on the beach. The food had its moments; oysters are the best I have ever eaten! Maybe it was a bad evening, but my fried shrimp was incredibly bland. Hush puppies were another redeeming factor; very unique and tasty! Service was... lacking. Excellent food and the prices are unbeatable. Not necessarily a first date kind of place or a place to take a large group due to the fact its all bar seating with rustic service but 5 stars in my book for orginality and culture. Fried oyster and jumbo shrimp was awful........way way over priced.... I literally threw all the food away ($37 down drain)

The food at this location was great in the past but now they're giving fish strips not filets. I use to eat here on a weekly basis but will no longer use this location. For $10 I ordered the dinner and for the second time received 1 small fillet cut into 2 pieces that look like a chicken tender. I thought that I previously was given a child's basket by mistake...oh no they're short changing the public. When I contacted management they just apologized and said that's the portion size now, not so cause I went to the main location earlier this week to be given the same dinner the way it should be sized. No longer will the Stafford captain Benny's get my dollar. On top of it the meal was cold. read more

It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon and it's time to eat. My man and I are craving seafood/gumbo and I remember that my coworkers mentioned that Captain Benny's is pretty good. This is a seat yourself joint which I don't mind because then that means it's going to be a chill place. The menu is kinda tiny for me. I understand this place is all about the oysters but you really can't think of anything else to put on the menu? Well, we order gumbo and the bacon covered shrimp for starters. The gumbo is OK at most. Not a lot of flavor and kinda bland. Had to season it with hot sauce and S&P. The shrimp was overcooked. The bacon was burnt (which I usually don't mind but when it tastes like charcoal..we have a problem...) and the pepper they put with the shrimp was soggy. I don't mind all this because it's a beautiful day and I'm outside enjoying my afternoon with the significant other. Our food arrives. The crawfish etouffee comes and it looks spectacular. The crawfish piroque (P-Row) looked amazing but still bland! I tasted the etouffee and my goodness! IT WAS BLAND AS WELL!! What is up with this place and the blandness!? The hushpuppies were salty (as all hushpuppies are) but I'm going to say that it was the only thing that we ordered that had any sort of taste to it. I'm usually not a picky eater but when something is not good, I've GOT to say something. So we called over the manager and she was sweet enough to cancel it. Overall, it wasn't great. yelp is a very useful tool when it comes to try I g new restaurants and such. so when my family wanted some Cajun. food and oysters, this place had great reviews. not to mention it is fairly close to my house. it's a Sunday night as we walk into this place and a pretty slow night at that. as we are walking searching for a seat the two waitresses they have serving the patio are obviously bored and don't want to be there. we wait for what seems like 10 but in reality it's 5 minutes before the waitress, after they both saw us walk in and sit, before she gets our drink orders an apps. it being an oyster bar we naturally order oysters. it must have took about 30 minutes before we finally get the 2 dozen oysters we ordered. how does an oyster bar on a slow night take 30 minutes to shuck 2 dozen oysters? they were lucky I even stayed the amount of time waiting for my oysters, as I was about to walk out. luckily there's a Popeyes and bought a bucket of chicken for dinner instead of further waiting all night for my dinner. horrible service, sad excuse for an oyster bar. if I could give it no stars I would but can't. read more
