Everything is 5 star to me. They were recommended to me by a friend of mine who went with them years ago. So I booked my Napali Dinner Cruise online and it was fast, convenient and easy. When we arrived the office, all the staff were very accommodating and helpful. The check in and boarding was on time. The crew were awesome they assisted my 81yo auntie and see to it that she is safe. Capt Thomas was entertaining and funny too. Our experience exceeded our expectations. This place is incredible and organized. Lots to review because we ended up loving this so much that we did it twice, 3 days apart: CHECK IN: I come from a history of theme parks. This took the cake! Loved the contactless check in experience (you scan a QR code in the parking lot to check in). My only gripe is that the directions could be more clear -- especially what time your tour started and that you'll get another email/text during preboarding. EXPERIENCE: From the captains to the crew you're with the best, most approachable folks. As mentioned earlier we ended up doing two night cruises. Our first tour was during some sporadic, pretty terrible/overcast rain/weather. We still had an incredible experience, but wanted to see the coast and sunset. CREW: We had Captain Claire for both tours. She's incredible, her staff changed each time (red vs blue) but they were all super attentive, very nice, and clearly well trained. FOOD & DRINKS: Food on board for both tours was great. They're not immensely large plates (chicken/steak/seafood + salad) but you're on a boat. No gripes at all about the food. Both tours were tasty, great quality and fresh. The drinks were great as well; definitely do the Sneaky Tiki for a good time. OVERALL: If you want to get wet, hold on for dear life, and have a blast sit/stand at the front of the boat. If you want a mellow experience, do the back. Saw wales and spinner dolphins during both experiences. This crew knows what they're doing. Could not recommend enough. We were on the cancellation list for the cave tour and thankfully seats became available and we were able to get 3! Since I had my 8 year old I wanted to make sure we booked a safe adventurous cave tour (I read horror stories on another yelp page offering the same tour) Well it didn't disappoint! It was probably one of the best tours I did! The views were so beautiful! We were able to get close to dolphins, go into the caves, and swim. If you are planning on seeing the NaPali Coast then Captain Andy's would be the way to see it! Captain Mike and his crew were beyond attentive. We got to sit on the trampolines on the way out and back- and we had a BLAST! Yes, we got wet... like pretty wet, but why not have the full blown experience if you're going sailing on a catamaran. The food was delicious, and don't forget to save room for the key lime cheesecake... cause- yum! Captain Mike told some amazing stories that made the experience even more memorable! We took the Star Na Pali Dinner Sunset cruise yesterday aboard the Northern Star, one of the 65' Star class catamarans in Capt. Andy's fleet. It was one of the best days of my life! The boat was impressive and plenty of room for the 49 passengers (I will admit I was worried it would be too crowded). We chose a small table at back of cabin but under shade, because I am very fair skinned, but spent most of the sail standing on the bridge talking to the Captain and enjoying the incredible views. Upon leaving the dock, the Capt pointed out a sea turtle who seemed to be escorting us out of the harbor, waving her fin at us. The weather was perfect and Captain Claire was first rate. She was a very safe and able skipper. Her knowledge of the island, marine biology, history, geology, and mythology made for a very educational experience as she spoke to us throughout the cruise. She was also pretty funny which gave us a comedy bonus! Really wonderful Captain! On the ride out we saw a mother and baby humpback, she was "logging" the baby who was learning to breathe at the surface and it's little fins and spouts were so heartwarming to see! We saw goats on the sheer cliffs of the Na Pali and black noddies nesting and roosting above the sea caves. But the absolute pinnacle of the Day was the appearance of the John Travolta of whales, who breached about 8 times with spinning maneuvers and back flops and the beauty brings tears to my eyes again just writing this review. A real bucket list moment for me! The crew was attentive and agile, just outstanding! They were grilling filet mignon, shrimp, asparagus and potatoes on the way out and served dinner after the turnaround. There was also a goat cheese/cream cheese/ cranberry/ pine nut / herb spread on cracker as an appetizer and a green salad with papaya dressing. Delightful tropical iced tea and soft drinks on way out. Beer, wine and Sneaky Tikis (their Mai Tai) on way back. An absolutely perfect day!!! read more

We had a fantastic morning on a Nāpali coast tour with snorkeling! Everything was top notch from the stories Captain Larry told as we traveled up the coast to the music that kept people moving to the beat. Snorkeling gear and instruction was so helpful. Had a wonderful outing with Captain Andy's on their BBQ snorkel sail along the Nāpali coast. The boat was beautiful and the crew was very warm and skilled at managing both the ship and passenger needs. Unfortunately on the day we went their was some rough water which meant we didn't get to snorkel, but instead we were treated to numerous breaching hump-backs, pods of local dolphins, and the wind allowed for the crew to cut the engines and take us along a decent portion of the coast under sail power. The coast itself was really breath taking, and the captain's narration as we sailed was interesting/entertaining. We got some additional fun on the way back motoring against some pretty large swells. Being up on the bow as waves crashed across the front of the ship was something straight out of a sea adventure film (not everyone was enjoying this bit, but I loved it). The lunch was simple but very tasty, and the Kona beers were plentiful. Very satisfied in spite of the missed snorkeling. I look forward to sailing with this outfit again on future Kauai trips. This is a cruel tourist trap. I will start from the beginning for you all so you can understand the experience we had. We had a ticket to the sunset catamaran dinner cruise and attended in November. You park in a gravel lot next to the shopping center this is in. When you go in they have a ton of shirts and things for sale and you are forced to watch their pictures play on a roll of people having the time of their lives in the water snorkeling and at waterfalls and experiencing the na Pali ... all facilitated by Capt Andy. While you are waiting, it is very toasty in the room you are waiting in and you are there with a ton of people . There were probably 70-80 people in there with us waiting for their ship to leave . You walk down to Port Allen Harbor and they then take your shoes . This was about an 8 minute walk. When you get down you are on a dirty cement platform and you put your shoes in a rollaway cart. You then board the catamaran and we had to walk across another one to get on to ours. When you get on, it is extremely cramped. They clearly book a ton of people for these trips and are definitely making bank. But it felt too crowded and you could not move around easily. They were not enough places for people to sit eating dinner and on the back of the boat. While he was giving he safety briefing we had to stand. If you don't run on the boat first and claim your spot you may wind up on the front of the boat and standing also. We then sat in the cabin and it started pouring . Like torrential downpour . I will separate this though from their review because the weather is not their fault. But definitely bring a rain jacket because after we left the cabin we went to the front of the boat which he called the "adventure zone". If you consider yourself adventurous this has a positive connotation. However, it is not. The wind and salt was slapping us in the face . It soon fogs up your glasses and you can't see the coast or anything because of the salt. And the spray soaked us completely . Which then made it very cold. It was not a windy day when we went out. Even the Capt said the water was so smooth "like glass" which had me thinking I couldn't imagine this on a day when it isn't "smooth." We tried to enjoy the beautiful scenery on the deck but the wind was so loud you couldn't talk to each other and the spray and salt was burning our skin. Not to mention the awful churning and nausea because of the unpredictable and thrashing motion the boat was making. Just when the sea sickness was at its worst they opened the bar ( about an hour in) and started serving you alcohol . The drink of the night was actually really really good. I forced myself to drink one because we paid for it. It was called the "sneaky tiki" and was a nice spin-off of a mai Thai. All this sAid, the worst and most laughable part of the whole thing was the meal. They served fillet mignon and honey ginger carrots and potatoes. It was grass fed beef . The chef seemed very good. It is unfortunate Capt Andy's was holding him captive . Before they even started serving the food two of the girls on board were hurling over the side but you couldn't hear them because of the wind. It didn't matter how good the chef was. No amount of culinary skill would have made food at this moment appetizing and a lot of people just had him pack their meal in a to go box . There was a mens and women's bathroom but the women's smelled of throw up. The rocking feeling took two days to resolve for me. In my opinion, there are far better ways to see the Na Pali coastline. Would not recommend this to travelers or do it again. Maybe their rafting adventure would have been better . I will day though that the staff on board were extremely friendly and very accommodating. When someone got sick they were very quick with a ginger ale and an ice cloth for their neck and escorted them to the downstairs bathroom. They were all very pleasant to talk to. I will say though , if you have even an inkling of tendency to get motion sickness , do not do this. I have no problem on roller coasters and most rides, no issues on helicopters , and do great on airplanes . I wouldn't even say I am prone to this but this had me nauseous and dizzy . read more

THIS SHOULD BE ON YOUR BUCKET LIST. You absolutely must not miss this trip to the Napali Coast with Captain Andy's. Great boat. Delicious food. Expert Captain and crew. Ride was fun coming and going and I am a seasick, landlubber with no sealegs. Two non-drowsy Dramamine and I was 100% fine on this 4 hour tour that was really one of the best things my husband and I have done. We both loved it. Couldn't stop smiling. Crew professional, courteous, checking on all passengers to see if seasick, thirsty, needed anything. All passengers took something for seasickness; nobody sick. Food? Everything superb. Tender beef dish, melt in your mouth garlic chicken, flavorful rice dish, salad, perfect asparagus, loads of sodas, water, and adult beverages (including bar service) all part of the package. Dessert was cheesecake with whipped creme. The crew was passing out 2nds for those with bigger appetites. Captain stopped for photos when dolphins joined the tour and at the Napali highlights. Return trip just speeding along with most folks, including me, sea worthy enough to stand on deck and enjoy the wind, sea spray, music, commradrie of a boatload of new friends hating this amazing voyage ending as the sunset on the Pacific in paradise. Four of us did the Na Pali Raft Expedition and had an absolutely amazing time! The rafting expedition is a high speed, bumpy ride that is completely different than the catamaran rides I'm used to. We had to hold on tight and use some back and leg muscles but it was totally fun and worth it! We explored caves and landed on a beach where we snorkeled and had a delicious lunch. Our captains were Chase and Jesse and they both exceeded our expectations! They were friendly, funny, accommodating and knowledgeable. Booked the Na Pali coast tour through here. We did the Star Snorkel BBQ tour. We wanted to do a tour that had the Star class yachts as we we had heard the ride over can be rough and this would be a smoother ride to avoid motion sickness. The entire trip was about a half day and we had to check in at 7:15 in the morning. The boat is huge and has lot of places to hang out on.They put out breakfast right away which consists of coffee, some type of breakfast casserole, and fruit. The ride out to the Na Pali coast really is breathtaking. The views are amazing. The captain did a great job of pointing out what everything was and sharing different facts about each area. Now, I will say I have never been sea sick in my life and have gone on multiple cruises. But, my husband and I both got sea sick on this trip. We had seabands but we should have brought pills. Luckily, neither of us ended up physically getting sick. But, it hit me almost out of nowhere and I suddenly got very nauseous and fatigued. This was only on the ride over there, when we were actually moving very slowly down the coast. So, if you get sea sick easily, I would be cautious of booking this. Once, we got there I was eager to get out and snorkel, which pretty much instantly had me feeling better. We snorkeled for probably about 30 minutes which was a lot of fun. When we got back on this ship, they cooked lunch. The options for lunch were burgers and chicken sandwiches from the grill. When we were headed back, we got to see a ton of dolphins up close. Overall, I would really recommend this tour. One thing I will add is the crew on here was amazing. They really worked hard and went out of their way to see if you needed anything. They were also always offering to take pictures of you with your phone in front of the sights. If you are looking to book a boat tour, then I highly recommend Captain Andy's. We went with the Na Pali Dinner Sunset Sail, and it was a great experience. We were fairly lucky with the weather, as the waves weren't too bad, and there was only a little cloud cover on the coast, which just showed up at the top of the mountain peaks. Captain Jackie did a great job on the drive out, describing what we were seeing on the way, and especially when we hit Na Pali. She was very knowledgeable about everything on the trip, and best I could tell....she drove the boat very well too! Her crew of Carly and Cassie were also top notch. They did a great job of making rounds on the boat and speaking to everyone. And when it was time for drinks and dinner, they were all over the place taking care of the guests. It was a great experience, and the coast is something you just have to see. Sunset was not so good, but you couldn't control all the low clouds out on the horizon. Still got some interesting pictures of the sunset. The tiki-tiki cocktails were very good, but the dinner was average at best. But if you're going on this cruise for dinner, you're going for the wrong reason. In that case, take your money and go to a nice restaurant. I recently went on the sunset dinner cruise (the upgraded "star" option). It was my second time sailing up and down the Napali and it was beautiful as always. There wasn't much commentary about what we were seeing which I found disappointing. The food and drinks were fantastic. There wasn't enough seating, so people rushed on to claim the few tables. We managed to get a bench but a bunch of people stood the whole time. We had to eat out of our laps which, for an expensive dinner cruise, was unexpected and frustrating. There should only be as many people on the boat as can fit at the tables. The staff was great and very attentive, but overall I wouldn't take another dinner cruise with Captain Andy's. read more

We did the BBQ Snorkel & Sail today. Initially we were a little hesitant because these tours are fairly pricy but once we got onboard we understood why. We've done many tours in many locations and the Captain Andy's crew are heads and shoulders behind any other company. Not only are they all personable, knowledgeable but seemed to be mind readers because they knew I wanted a picture taken, a drink / snack before I even knew. The boat ride out to Na Pali can be a bit bumpy and wet depending on where you're sitting but that just added to the adventure. If you get sea sick it could be a little rough. I don't recall their names but we had the sunset cruise on Sunday 9/22 at 2 pm on the new catamaran. The tour was great, fun and informative! The best part for us was when we got to the area where the dolphins hang out and they swam along with the catamaran! The chef did an amazing job cooking the food. 5 stars! My review comes from the place of "the girl who got seasick". Capt Andy's catamaran was spacious and well maintained we were able to see spinner dolphins, sea turtles, so many fish, and one humpback whale. We had somewhat of a rough sailing day which did not make for a great time for a girl who gets sea sick . This 5 star review goes to the crew on board with us during that day. I can honestly say that the attention and care they provided to me while I was pretty sure I was going to die from seasickness was unmatched. They attended to all of my needs when I was unable to get up to do things for myself and checked in on my multiple times. We had a great time going up the NaPali Coast with Captain Larry, and Michelle, and Shelby in the 55 ft. catamaran for the Na Pali snorkel picnic sail. They were professional, very friendly, and knowledgable. We learned a lot about the area, ate good food, and had an exciting time with lots of ocean spray if you wanted to sit up front. The boat, "Akialoa" was well designed with places for being totally drenched to totally dry and everything in between. Of course conditions dictated where we snorkeled and how we sailed. The snorkeling was fair but still fun. We motor sailed for awhile and never actually fully sailed which I would have liked. But all in all, an excellent day. read more

We went on the North Star today and it was amazing! The staff was so helpful especially Cassie! The Captain (I wish I could remember his name) was such a great guide. He gave us so much information and we got to go a little further up the coast because the water was calm. He was great at letting us know when the water would get rougher and when he would be speeding up reminding us to him of the rails and our hats. We stopped and watched a huge school of dolphins some even put on a show for us. While snorkeling (I just floated around in the water but my hubby snorkeled) we saw 2 sea turtles. Cassie was fun and great at making sure we had everything we needed. She was always smiling and I watched her help so many guests. The whole crew seemed to really enjoy their job and made our experience wonderful! We have been on many boat tours but this was the best yet. Great job! read more

The scenery was breathtaking! The weather on our trip in January was ideal for us to enter multiple sea caves and allowed us to snorkel in a cove as well. Went on the sunset dinner cruise to explore the Na Pali coast on March 26th. Captain Byron and crew went out of there way to make it an enjoyable experience. The filet mignon and shrimp dinner was perfect and the open bar made it even better. One thing I would like to know though is if the crew shares the tips? This was the highlight of my trip and my entire stay was great but this was absolutely amazing. I fully recommend them! We did the morning Nā Pali Coast snorkel tour w/ lunch and it was beautiful, we were so well taken care of. The captain was amazing and beyond knowledgeable. He shared all about his family and his culture there in Kauai. We learned so much and it had such an authentic vibe. Heather was a blast, she was also working on the sailboat and she was such a kind person with such great energy. There was another guy (I forget his name) he was also super cool. He was out on a surfboard keeping an eye on everyone that was swimming and he was very on top of things, kind, and helpful. The food was delicious. Chef Mark had fresh breakfast and juice for everyone and our lunch burgers were cooked perfectly to our taste. Then towards the end of the trip he surprised us with fresh baked white chocolate chip macadamia cookies, so yummy. I did not have any of the alcohol but that was definitely available so that's always fun for anyone who enjoys that. Visibility was not great to snorkel but that is not their fault at all so that was just luck of the draw. The coast was beautiful and we saw sea turtles, dolphins, flying fish, and so much more. They gave us quite some time to swim since we were unable to snorkel and that was absolutely beautiful and worth it. I was happy snorkeling back where we were staying on the beach so not snorkeling on this sailing adventure just made me look around and enjoy the scenery that much more. Such a win! I hope you're able to do this if you love nature, the ocean, Hawaii, family fun, swimming, fun in the sun, yummy food, and good people.
