YUMMY! Good contender against my favorite of Tomaso's! Love the high back booths to feel like a little romantic/private conversation type place. Music was fun. Anytime my husband actually eats the crust you know it's good. Priced very well. Will definitely recommend to others. read more

This place is great! We live in Chattanooga TN and were back visiting family. There are no good Chicago style pizza places in Chattanooga so we always look for some when we come back to CR. we usually go to Tomaso's or Zoey's, but wanted to try Cappy's. The pizza really hit the spot. Everything was fresh, the service was great, and the atmosphere was good. If I didn't live so far away, this place would be a regular for me. Loved the crust! read more

The best pizza I have found in Cedar Rapids. You can tell it was a testament of love for these folks to produce this food and a personal mission to triumph to be the best in the area. I do agree with the other reviewer who said it was not real NY Style. My argument is that the crust is awesome anyway. Also agree with the other, other reviewer who wanted more pungent flavors such as garlic. 3 Stars for adding retro elements Zero Stars = Location! New era strip mall that lacks sidewalks, crosswalks or general ease of walking to provoke a healthy, family and pedestrian friendly neighborhood atmosphere. (Of course, that's not the fault of Cappy's, but the fault of Cedar Rapids developers and city planners.) So that's why they have 4 stars instead of 5. read more

Stopped in for a salad, deep dish pizza and a cold beer. Staff was wonderful and so was the food. Definitely will be coming back.

The staff is extremely beautiful! The food will make your mouth like the Phoenix exploding out of the fire! I feel like they import the pizza from Chicago or New York... cappy's is behind the world's first teleportation device. The US government is after them but even they can't stop them from getting you the best damn pizza in Iowa! read more

Food is delicious, especially the calzone which a lot of places don't get right. Have had some issues with on time service but they have offered to compensate. read more

This place was so good! Thanks to Yelp we found it! I would call it a bit hidden, it's a small restaurant, they have a small menu but man was it delicious! We shared the Greek salad which as potato salad on it and the dressing has so much flavor! The calzone was huge easily feeds 2, the crust was so good and crispy, you could it was all homemade!! Definitely recommend!! read more

We decided to try Cappy's pizza as we were looking for a sit down pizza restaurant when we were in Cedar Rapids. We were pleasantly surprised at the ambiance, very relaxing, with a lot of charm. The pizza was very good (we tried the New York crust) and so were the bread sticks. They also have a good Gluten Free pizza too (a must for my wife). We will definitely try it again next time we are in the area. read more

Inconvenient business hours and overpriced... Only open for 4-5 hours a day and $23.00 for a large veggie pizza.. No thanks! We've tried calling to order a pizza several times and no one answers the phone. If you're going to own a business, then own a business... not a part time night shift, Cappy's! read more

Loved this place!!! We had just moved to town and I took a wrong turn and ran into this place so said why not!? And we definitely didn't regret it! Loved the eclectic kitchen, dining area and beers! read more

This place is great! It's quaint and had a great ambiance. The service and food was outstanding. We will be coming back soon.

Excellent service, pizza and Greek salad!! Fair price for the Chicago style. If you are looking for something comparable to Zoeys, Cappys tops Zoeys. read more

Seriously the best pizza EVER! Love the cutie atmosphere and the self serve beer fridge. The staff is always attentive and accommodating. The after dinner bubble gum (substitute for the traditional mint) is fun too. read more

We haven't been there for about a year. We had the Capps Chicago style Pizza and it way Great. Service was fast and friendly the place was clean. read more

Greek salad with potato salad, great bread sticks, friendly wait staff, and a self-serve beer cooler. Oh, and delicious Chicago-style pizza. Just off of C Avenue, behind Scooter's, the place serves New York, Chicago, and calzone pies. The only drawback is, that they do not have enough seating to serve the people. Wait times can sometimes be pretty long. But the pizza is worth the wait. read more

NY pizza is close but needs work. Crust is close but needs to be thinner. Sauce is good. Need a little bit more chess and olive oil, then you have it. Maybe a little bit of garlic or oregano. read more

Pizza was good only problem is place is really small and not a lot of employees but other than that great experience

This is some of the best pizza in town. Everything tasted fresh. We had the "Cappy" New York Style because we like thin crust pizza. The crust was wonderful with plenty of toppings. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. This will become a regular for us. We will be back! read more

Really like Cappy's!! We ordered a New York thin and it came out just the way you want it. Saw some Chicago styles come out of the oven while we were waiting and they looked really tasty. TheGreek salad was delicious. This little spot has tons of atmosphere and the self serve beer cooler is kind of neat with tons of choices. I think Cappy's should be in the running for best Pizza in Cedar Rapids, it is that good. Friendly service too. read more

Great NY-style crust, plus they have my favorite topping ever (meatballs). 5/5 would eat again.

Had a great time and delicious pizza. We did thin crust and it was a hit. Love the atmosphere and the old time dishes....like eating at home. Can't wait to head back. read more

My husband, son, and I went to Cappys after finding it on Yelp and reading positive reviews. We went in skeptical, since we've tried numerous local pizza places that everyone raves about, only to get a mediocre pizza at an inflated price. Cappys exceeded our expectation with their delicious tossed salad, cheesy bread, and New York style pizza. Wow! Prices are very reasonable, service was great. Kid friendly, very laid back, clean, and cozy atmosphere. You should definitely give Cappys a try. read more

Omg!! This place is so good!! The pizza is some of the best in town!! Love Chicago style pizza. Staff was very nice. They offer beer and wine. I almost wish they weren't so close. I might be back too often. read more

Had a deep dish Chicago and it was outstanding. The crust was perfectly cooked. This was my first time there and was pleasantly surprised.

It's not everyday you can get a local dining experience like Cappy's. The New York style pizza brought me back to my roots in New York City. NO place in this area can touch this. They nailed it. Served by the wife and co-founder, cooked by the husband and their son. That's so different than the chains - with their ever changing staff and their cookie cutter products. Dough is made on-site and rests for two days before it hits their oven, for full development of flavor. The creativity of the dining space is the first indication of the unique experience you're about to have. Who would think to make a menu from old music albums, or that they could ever find cool retro tables like my grandparents had decades ago? Great food, Highly recommended! read more

I'm stretching this to 4 stars only because the service is great and I like that I can pick my own beer out of the cooler and they charge me accordingly. Otherwise, I was a little disappointed in their version of NY style pizza. If you've ever had true NY thin crust, then you will always compare and unfortunately this doesn't. It was too bland for my taste. However, I would go back to try the Chicago style because it's a cute place and the service rocked. read more

Delicious! We got a Greek salad, cheese bread & a New York style Cappy's. Everything was so good and the waitress was so so sweet! The place is really cute and the menus are cool, they're old record covers! I would definitely recommend! read more

Very good pizza! We've been there twice and plan to return frequently. My only complaint is their seating capacity, just too small. This can make it difficult to find a seat some evenings. Hopefully they will get very popular and be able to move into a bigger location. read more

So cozy. We love to stop in here after work with the kids. Wish they had some more original toppings. Also wish they had some better options for people who are trying to avoid calories from carbs. Their salads are super simple. Would like to see some more original options in this area. read more

Just visited Cappy's tonight and I must say, it was great. The restaurant has a small pizzeria feel and was full when we visited. We waited only 5 min for a booth. The beer selection was excellent, offering several craft beers. We ordered a Chicago Style pizza and it was awesome. The sauce was sweet and the crust had a great olive oil taste, exactly what you expect in a Chicago style pizza. I'm a big fan of Zoeys in Marion and this place is as good as Zoeys. Nice atmosphere, great service and excellent pizza. Finally, the prices were good. They've been in business only a month and already are doing it right. I highly recommend and will go back frequently. read more

My family decided to try Cappy's because of the previous reviews and because we like to support local businesses. The service was outstanding and everyone loved the New York thin pizza. It was cooked perfectly! We are picky about our pizza and Cappy's has now become tied for 1st place in our favorite pizza in Cedar Rapids. The owners seem to be really cool people as well. They came out and chatted with the customers and we enjoyed meeting them. Give it a try! read more

Just ate at Cappys Pizza tonite. It was outstanding. Had the Chicago style spinach. I think we found our new favorite pizza place in Cedar Rapids area! Husband and I split the small salad, just enough. The decor is wonderful. Loved the wall decorations, table and chairs are lovely mid century. They have trivial pursuit cards at the booth, very fun. The salt and pepper shakers are unique and different at each table. Can't remember the last time we had so much fun looking at decorations in a restaurant! Neat variety of beers in a cooler. Owner served us and she was charming and very friendly. Wonderful addition to our side of town. But would drive from anywhere to eat here. Will recommend to everyone we know. Fantastic place and will be back soon! read more

The best New York style pizza in the area. The crust is perfect the sauce is not over spiced or sweet like most pizza chains sauce it is tomato, oil and lightly seasoned. They are always busy so call ahead for take out. But even with waiting it is well worth the trip from anywhere in the city. read more

Delicious pizza, friendly staff, awesome decor! The three of us were looking for something with good ratings so we tried Cappy's. What a great experience. We went for the Cheesy Bread appetizer. Wow!! The Cheesy Bread was a wonderful crusty-type pizza dough with mozzarella melted all over the top and a coffee cup of marinara sauce (some of the best marinara I've ever had) to go with it. But then the pizza... We ordered a large Margherita Chicago-style pizza which was a combination not on the menu but that Cappy's happily accommodated. The Chicago-style crust was flaky with just a hint of butteriness. There was a generous amount of basil on top and I struggled to resist eating the entire pizza myself. Wow. YUM!! I highly recommend this place if you're in Cedar Rapids for any reason, it's a hidden gem! read more

The service was pretty awesome here and the cheese bread was pretty good. Due to time constraints, my wife and I ordered New York Style "Cappy's" - which is pretty much supreme. My wife didn't finish one slice (albeit a large one). I wasn't a big fan either. I really think chain pizza has this place beat - by a lot. I wish we would have had time for the Chicago style (love Giordano's in Chicago). It looks like other people had better luck with it. This place is only a few blocks from our house, and I really wanted to love it. read more

We are so happy to have such a yummy place for pizza near our house. The servers are excellent - friendly and knowledgeable. The Chicago Cappys is our favorite. Super fresh toppings and just the right amount of cheese and sauce. The salads are also delicious! read more

Best Greek salad EVER!!!! LOVE the pizza! LOVE the service and atmosphere! Cappys never disappoints!

Quiet and quaint, my wife and I were looking for wood fired pizza but wanted to be able to talk without having to compete with bar music or a lot of other loud conversations. We shared a calzone (which was huge) and neither of us left hungry. Very friendly service. We look forward to trying the Chicago style on our next visit because we WILL be back! read more

Pizza is amazing!!!GREEK SALAD IS THE BOMB!!!! This restaurant is a family favorite!!!!
