Our steel well (circa 1981) was on its last legs, and we knew the day would come when the whole thing would have to be replaced. But, thanks to Meehan Well Drilling of Sandwich, Mass., that day would not be today. Within an hour of our distress call, Sean and his apprentice, Marco, arrived. Sean confirmed that the clock was indeed ticking, and that our 25 year old well was nearing the point of failure, and that by today's standards, the warrantee on any newly installed pump would be be voided for any steel well. Fortunately, within half an hour they had isolated the problem (electrical, as it turned out) and our water was running again at full pressure. We are now making arrangements for a new (PVC) well, a new tank and anything else they recommend for as long as we occupy our 200 year old home in West Barnstable. With us, they will have a customer for life, and we will continue to have our own water supply, full independent of any municipal water authority. Thanks, Sean!

They said they would have gotten to us sooner but had to stop on the highway in Eastham to help a woman collect the contents of her wallet that was blowing all over the busy highway. Desmond Well Drilling was the only bright spot in a big unexpected project. We've had our house for…read moreabout 5 years and had fully taken our well and running water for granted, when we started to lose water pressure. Desmond had their sticker on our tank so I thought that was a great place to start. It was about 4 o clock but I was expecting a machine, but a very pleasant helpful girl took all my info and pulled up the records for the property. It was all done in 2017 so hopefully it would just be something small! Michelle called the next day and scheduled a service call the next day when the guys were in the area. Tommy came out the next day and gently delivered the bad news! Basically our pump was junk, but also seized in the shaft. He presented our options and basically recommended a new well. He said they could fight with the pump to get it out and replace it for x dollars (and the well could still need to be replaced so it was a bit of a gamble). We elected to go ahead and replace the well, correctly once and for all. Having a toddler and no running water is not a fun place to be and I was terrified how long this may take. We gave the go ahead on Thursday and they worked really hard, got the emergency permit, digsafe, everything and started Monday! Michelle is really a force!! It was a seamless two day job thankfully and Tommy and crew were neat, polite and explained everything in a way we could understand. He even used some sticks to make a diagram for me to explain the way a well works! They came in a few hundred under their estimate, and were really really easygoing and reasonable to work with. Our well was about 130' deep and it's very rocky where we live so it was no easy feat. Didn't question for a minute if we had the right company for the job. I can't really comment on how well the American Artesian Well Co does their job of drilling…read morewells...but as far as being great human beings, at least one of them has got it right :) We were busy shoveling out after last week's snowstorm, when one of their guys drove by with a plow on the front of his truck. Without a word, he dropped his plow, and plowed away all of the snow blocking the end of our driveway and front walkway. What would have taken us about at least an hour took him one minute. I was so taken aback by the sheer awesomeness of this action, that I completely neglected to get his name. I did, however, get to thank him in person, and now I want to thank him again for everyone to see. So, thank you, mystery well-driller man.
