Our well started losing pressure on Friday afternoon. Woke up Sunday morning with zero water! I'm pretty handy so I tried everything I could think of. I flushed the system cleaned up and redid all the wiring. Removed the well cap and re-primed the system. Still no water. I called Sunday afternoon and to my amazement. The young lady answered the phone on one ring. They came out Monday morning to take a look and by Monday afternoon, everything was fixed. It was Friday afternoon and our well water stopped running. We were expecting guests for the weekend. Our steel well (circa 1981) was on its last legs, and we knew the day would come when the whole thing would have to be replaced. But, thanks to Meehan Well Drilling of Sandwich, Mass., that day would not be today. Within an hour of our distress call, Sean and his apprentice, Marco, arrived. Sean confirmed that the clock was indeed ticking, and that our 25 year old well was nearing the point of failure, and that by today's standards, the warrantee on any newly installed pump would be be voided for any steel well. Fortunately, within half an hour they had isolated the problem (electrical, as it turned out) and our water was running again at full pressure. We are now making arrangements for a new (PVC) well, a new tank and anything else they recommend for as long as we occupy our 200 year old home in West Barnstable. We noticed a disturbing noise coming from our basement when the well water was pumping on demand. We called Meehan on a Friday afternoon and Sean the owner answered the phone immediately. Within a half hour he appeared and evaluated the situation. He proceeded to contact a 2 man crew who appeared in 15 minutes and commenced work on the well pump located in the ground. The diagnosis involved replacing the pump which they honored under warrantee without hesitation. A third individual also appeared to assist in the replacement. The work was completed within an hour in a professional and courteous manner. In this day of voice mails, failure to return calls, and no show service, Meehan Well Drilling is a gem.
