I give them a zero. I dropped my car off on a Thursday night drop to be looked at Friday for a diagnosis. Nobody followed up so I called around 3pm to get, "oh, we have it right now on a test run. We will call you back." No return call. I had an emergency Sunday and I needed my car. I went to the lot and got it. No phone call Monday. You would think someone would question, where is that vehicle. I went into the office around 2pm, asking for my keys and they wanted to charge me! I recently purchased a 2021 Subaru (with only 8,000 miles on the car) from Bob Ruth Ford. I had it inspected at Caples Car Care, and it failed the inspection for window tint and an exhaust issue. I brought the car back to Bob Ruth Ford and they removed the tint and did what was needed to the exhaust so it would pass MD state inspection. When I brought the car back to Caples Car Care, they failed the inspection and told me that Bob Ruth Ford did an inadequate repair, and I would have to pay them to fix the issue or would have to pay another fee to re inspect the work if I took the car somewhere else. I had them give me the car back and I took the car to another approved MD inspection station this morning and it passed. I feel verry taken advantage of by Caples car care!!!!!! read more

Took my truck to them , it was making noise . They diagnosed the problem as a faulty transmission or torque converter . They wanted to do the repairs at a cost of somewhere between 3000 and 6500$ . Took it to Hanover Transmission shop , they diagnosed and fixed the problem for 305$ . what a difference ! Would never trust Caples Auto Repair again ! read more

I brought my SUV in October to have the thermostat replaced and ever since then, there has been a faint smell of antifreeze (I figured it was just burning off). Yesterday, I noticed steam coming out of the front of my SUV that wreaked of antifreeze so I called Jerry to see if it could be due to the thermostat installation & he informed me that they would have to run a diagnostic pressure test on my vehicle to see where the leak was coming from and that it would cost me $129.00. So I asked him if it was an issue due to the installation then why would I have to pay that and he proceeded to tell me that because I purchased the thermostat myself, they couldn't warranty the part (but we got the warranty from the store) and if it was a labor issue, they would cover it, but I would still have to pay for the diagnostic test. I was also told back in October that my transmission case was cracked and I needed a new transmission so I took it to a transmission place for a second opinion and they told me it was NOT cracked and it was dried oil from whoever did my last oil change (Caples) that they didn't clean off and it just looked cracked. If they would have cleaned the oil off, they would have seen it was not cracked. I have been bringing my vehicle to Caples for years and have recommended them to several people, so I am very disappointed in how I have been treated. I know people make mistakes, but the attitude really upsets me. I do not feel I should have to pay for a diagnostic test when the antifreeze smell started right after they replaced the thermostat. I had an appointment for an oil change on 7-2--23. The appointment was requested a week ahead of time, and I told the counter person that I wanted Mobile 1 synthetic oil, he quoted me a price of $69.00. This morning my service was completed with regular oil! When I pointed out that I had specifically requested Mobil 1 synthetic at time of appointment, he responded," well you signed the paper to do the work". Very poor customer service! and no offer to make it right. read more

Caples Car Care I appreciate you reaching out for resolution. We are all humans and mistakes are made and I had no problems giving you a chance to make things right. What I didn't appreciate were the false accusations and disrespect from your staff to both myself and my wife. The only reason this service was goodwilled was because of the altercation your technician initiated. Your service writer Ryan called me stating this would cost $120 and that this was my fault. To set the record straight, the transmission pan (less than $30 part) was not replaced and simply resealed as you can see in the picture. This is perfectly fine so long as it doesn't leak. All that we were looking for was a simple apology or not immediately jumping to the assumption that the pan wasn't scratched or leaking due to being dragged around a warehouse or not being properly sealed when remanufactured. Instead we have a service writer and technician doubling down. If you look at the undercarriage of the vehicle there is no other damage and the transmission sits above the engine crossmember as I previously mentioned. These are all reasons why I would hesitate to take this vehicle on a long road trip or recommend Caples Car Care to any of my friends or family. I understand we're an outlier to your other happy customers, but a $5600 service is nowhere near what a typical customer spends at your facility and we expected better. read more

I'm very impressed. My car was leaking gas. I brought it to Firestone first because it was closer. Firestone quoted me for $860 for the work. Caples charged me $387 for the exact same work. They also took me in to see the problem on my car and were very clear in explaining what was going on and what they were going to do to fix it. They took me home because I didn't have a ride, and the car was done by first thing the next morning. read more

Had my car towed here because it wouldn't start and there was a rattling/whistling noise when driving. I was told the battery was fine but the "throttle plate was gunky". Also told the rattle/whistle was a post factory installed sunroof problem. When I got there to pick my car up, the guy said "I hope you have AAA, because who knows if your battery will go again" they also proceeded to tell me things I could try if it happened again. I asked if they tried them when the car wouldn't start and they said no. 1mo later the rattling became worse, took my car to another mechanic and the dealer and was told the same thing by both....battery needs to be replaced and the rattle/whistle is probably because my back breaks were metal on metal. Was also told my flex pipe was coming apart and I had problems with my exhaust. I do not put many miles a week on the car and have been told that both of these problems were there to some extent the month prior and potentially could have been caught earlier. Not sure why I was blown off, I would think they would want business/money. read more

I brought them my 2006 Honda Accord because of an engine light. They told me it was the o2 sensor and they fixed it - along with the pcv valve and oil change. For the most part it was pretty unremarkable and a good price. I was generally satisfied. However, when I got home I looked under the hood, just to check things out, and noticed the red plastic cover over the positive battery thermal was cracked/broken off during the repairs. I figured they must have bumped it during the work. Two days later my battery died and needed replacement too. Not sure what make of it. read more

Probably the worst experience I've had with a car repair place. Had several services done. Spent upwards of $2k. When I received my car back sensors were not connected properly and literally had to take my car back to them 4 times for them to fix things that they either broke or didn't hook up correctly. Had an attitude with me when I was the one that had to keep driving back and forth. Probably ok for an oil change but not for in depth services that take knowledge. read more
