My lady and I were in Baltimore for a little staycation and were looking for a cigar lounge close…read moreto the Inner Harbor. We came across GQ, which is located inside a building that also has a restaurant/bar and, from what I understand, a barbershop and spa as well.
The whole setup has a little speakeasy feel to it. You enter through a pretty unassuming downtown building, take the elevator up using a code, and then get another code from the bartender to access the cigar lounge on a separate floor.
Since we weren't members, we purchased day passes for $20 each.
Before arriving, I had called to get some clarity because the setup was a little confusing online. I was told that outside cigars weren't allowed, but once we got there and met Chris, who I believe owns the establishments, it sounded like we actually could have brought our own. So there was definitely a little miscommunication there.
That being said, Chris was absolutely amazing. Very welcoming, hospitable, and made sure we were comfortable the entire time.
The cigar selection seemed a little low that evening, possibly because they were in the middle of restocking, but we still purchased a couple cigars and had a great time.
The lounge itself was spacious and comfortable with plenty of couches and chairs, a nice TV setup, complimentary water and sodas, ice, a kitchenette area, and a restroom right there. Most importantly, the ventilation system was excellent.
We grabbed a couple drinks, smoked our cigars, watched some college football, and just enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. It was exactly the kind of vibe I want from a cigar lounge.
We didn't try the food this time, but the restaurant upstairs looked pretty busy and seemed to serve mostly bar-style food. Next time, I'd definitely like to make more of a day out of it and possibly check out the spa or barbershop, grab something to eat, and finish off with a cigar.
Parking is pretty much what you'd expect downtown. I believe there's a garage behind the building, plus several garages nearby. We took a Lyft from our hotel because it was raining, and the ride was only about five minutes.
Overall, I'd give GQ a 5 out of 5. Great atmosphere, comfortable lounge, excellent ventilation, and Chris really made the experience stand out. If you're near the Inner Harbor and looking for a laid-back cigar spot, I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
