Great staff. I think this shop is the best comic shop in Raleigh. There are plenty of old comics to browse through as well as a ton of new releases. The atmosphere is great. Best comic shop in Raleigh period. I haven't visited in a while but I've been coming here since 2014. All of the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about characters, runs and publishers. I've been recommended some of my favorite purchases here. I would recommend visiting if you have plenty of time to browse and chat because getting trapped in a dialogue loop with the staff is all too common, but I wouldn't even count that as a flaw :) read more

Big kids like me, who still into comic books, used to be a fact you hide from others; now with every popular kids trying to claim their GEEK CREDS, I just want to let them know that, we are the ORIGINAL GEEKS, and they are just some geeksters. if it wasn't for the fact I was in a rush to a movie showing, I could have spend the rest of the afternoon in here browse through ask the treasure until they try to kick me out and lock the door behind me. New weekly releases sit neatly on the display tables, with action figures and props scattered around the store. Walk in a little further, you can see all aged (but nothing less than mint condition) comics for you to sort through and find your old favorites. Much more knowledgeable than myself, the store clerk was able to let me know where I can find variant cover prints. I walked away today from the store with long-awaited Spider-men issue #1, and one for collection purpose Ultimate Spider-man issue #160, the dramatic conclusion to a most watched arc in Spider-man, his death. It is actually a bad thing now I know I can find all I wanted here, because I can foresee my bank account slowly draining out! No bueno read more

Great store for new comics, counted 50+ "wall-books," and back stock containing mostly comics from the early 2000's to present.

Having lived in Richmond for a couple of years, and being a casual comic fan, I've been a little spoiled. I've yet to find the Triangle equivalent to Stories, the locally-owned comic shop chain in Richmond. The stores are big, the shelves are packed with all kinds of comic memorabilia, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Since I've been back here, I've visited a couple of shops to check out the vibe, and Capitol II was one of these. I stopped in on a lunch hour and the place was dead - although I can't say I've ever been to a comic shop that was really busy. The shop is long and narrow, in a strip mall just off Glenwood. Racks of comic books line both outside walls, a pretty extensive collection from the few minutes I spent looking over. The clerk was in the back of the store and he looked fairly busy, but still made a point to ask if I needed anything. I told him I didn't, and thankfully he didn't keep asking every two minutes. Capitol II also had a decent selection of collectibles for a shop of its size (even though they didn't really have anything that caught my eye). The verdict: I still haven't found anything on the level of Stories in the Raleigh area, but Capitol Comics is a pretty good substitute in this area. read more

Cap II doesn't have the same feel as its sister store on Hillsborough St. The building looks to be in better shape, the space isn't as cramped, and it's located next to my favorite bar in Raleigh (O'Malley's, for the curious). It's still a pretty steep second place to the other spot, though. Like the Hillsborough Street location, I've never had any problems finding anything I was looking for here; but unlike the other location, the guy behind the counter (always the same guy when I'm there, there are quite possibly other and better employees) seems horribly uninterested in helping me out. The trade section can be a little hard to navigate, as the books are situated for display more than being able to find what you want. If you're just going to the comic store for the comics, then there's absolutely no reason to head in; but if you want comics and a little back-and-forth, this might not be your place. Amazing find! We were in town from Fayetteville and decided to stop in before heading home in hopes of finding some goodies and we were not disappointed! They had a great selection of new comics as well as harder to find older issues. The guys working today were super friendly. They made sure upon checkout that we knew about a buy 3 get one free sale they had going as well as a military discount. Give this place a look and I promise you won't be disappointed!! read more

This is the best comic shop in Raleigh, especially now that its sister store, Capitol Comics on Hillsborough Street, is closed. If you want comics, and lots of them, this is a great place to go. However, if you're interested in trades ("graphic novels" and collections of issues) or manga ("japanese comics"), you may have better luck at the many local Barnes & Nobles than you will here. The stock here is 90+% Marvel/DC comics (mostly Marvel), with very little in the way of independent comics and no manga that I've ever seen. There's some nice comic memorabilia--statues, t-shirts, toys--but the same stuff's been on the shelves literally for years. There's no rotation on the memorabilia. The trades are organized in mostly-alphabetical order, though they are awkward to browse because they're laid out so the covers, rather than the spines, face the browser. I'm mostly a trade collector, and their trades have awkward gaps in them making it disappointingly hit-or-miss for me to find what I'm looking for here. read more

I stopped by one day after lunch and was just looking around. The collectibles are AWESOME. I told one of the guys I liked a comic (We3) and he suggested two. One of which is a TV series, Happy, but I'm halfway through it and don't want to finish because it's amazing. I wish I had caught the guy's name because I'll be back for the other one. I moved here in 1997 and started going to CC II, and it was good, In 1999, I moved away, but then in 2002, I moved back and for the last 14 years I've gotten my comics from Capital Comics II. I used to shop heavily at their location on Hillsborough St. when I lived in West Raleigh. After Grad School and moving to the northern edge of Wake Forest, I started buying comics online and only rarely going to Capital Comics in Raleigh. The store closing on Hillsborough was a wake up call for me and I decided to stop ordering online and make the weekly 30-45 min drive to Capitol Comics II. I wanted to support my local shop. While I can appreciate a store dedicated to comics that doesn't split space between gaming, toys, and comics, this store is very bland and boring. Its a bigger space than the Hillsborough location was but does have quite the same feel to it. Very dark and gloomy and they could really benefit from sprucing the place up and improving presentation a bit. Very disappointed in their lack of an online or social media presence. Especially for a store that saw one of their locations go out of business. I think it could really help. All that being said, they do what I want them to, which is to provide a place for me to go buy comics. They have all your main titles and most of the acclaimed smaller and independent ones. Good selection of back issues and a very impressive collection of trades and graphic novels. Sales Staff is ok and not very social. I try to swing by on Wednesday's when new comics are released, but if you are looking for a more social experience and want to interact with other comic lovers, Saturday afternoon is probably the day to stop by. read more

5 stars isn't enough for this wonderful store and their amazing employees! I moved to the area a little over a year ago from Boston and desperately needed a new comic stop. I found this place and, thanks to the wonderful team, I was welcomed home very quickly. I know there are other comic stores near me, but I give Ken and company all my business (as well as recommending them to all my friends). They make you feel so welcome, they never talk down to you and are always quick to strike up an amazing conversation. They never try and oversell me on anything (absolutely love that!) but they are on point with any recommendations and work very well with customers who are looking for something specific.
