Find real service elsewhere In 2024, we bought a 2022 VW Taos with about 20,000 miles that had previously been leased and serviced by this dealer. A couple of months later, the coolant warning light came on and the coolant level had dropped noticeably -- something normal temperature changes couldn't explain. When I called the service department, the supervisor said they had never heard of such problems with the Taos and told us to bring the car in. However, even a quick online search showed that many 2022 Taos models had coolant leaks caused by incorrect head gasket installation, and a parts representative at another VW dealer confirmed they had repaired several vehicles for this exact issue. We decided to take the car to another VW dealer instead, and they completed the head gasket repair under warranty. It's been over nine months since the repair, and the car has had no further coolant loss. I have no idea why this dealer didn't address this before selling the car (or at least acknowledge the issue when we called), but it left me with little confidence in their service practices. I now have the vehicle serviced elsewhere and confident about the work done on the car. And, I learned to do much better homework before buying my next car to avoid dealing with similar problems in the future. read more

I'll give them one star because the Service Dept answered the phone but that is the best they are getting. Called to get an oil change for my 2024 Sierra 1500l. I was given an appointment 5 weeks out. Same thing happen last time. For an oil change? really? What does it take? half an hour? I think they just push all the complimentary oil changes up as far as they can, hoping time expires before you can get all the oil changes you are entitled to. Spoke to the Service manager and absolutely a waste of time. not exactly a customer oriented guy, should be flipping burgers someplace instead. read more

Capitol City is the only dealership that I will go to because I can count on top of the line customer service in every department. Whether I am in the Service department getting my free oil change, courtesy of The BIG Deal, or finding out about all of the accessories I can get for my vehicle in the Parts department, laughing about past times with the Accounting office, or purchasing my next new vehicle from the Sales team, I am always COMPLETELY satisfied every time I leave. Customer beware! Went to the dealership and they offered me rough trade in on my 2021 truck with under 20k miles that is sterling condition. $11k lower than every dealer I went to! Before someone says you can't compare makes. This was compared to another GMC dealer. The morning I went in the were filming a commercial. I was advised by the sales staff my truck was worth substantially more than his manager was offering me. I was also advised the manager just had to taken a huge loss on a almost new White Toyota Tundra (all decked out) that they purchased for 60k but didn't realize the frame was cut and wielded voiding all manufacture warranties, couldn't be inspected in VT! Went there to have warranty work done on my truck about a year ago. Drop the truck off for a couple of days for bad front wheel bearings and to do a diagnosis on my a/c. They quoted me over $2000 for a new ac condenser, hardline and recharge!? $200 in parts and 3hrs? Worst was they installed my wheel bearing improperly, could've caused an accident. Had to take it back immediatly after driving off the lot. Bad mechanics and slimly salesmen. Don't recommend. read more

I set off from Fairfax, VT on Saturday morning with my two daughters age 13 and 6 to get to New Hampshire for my oldest daughters dance competition. About an hour into my drive my car started shimming and shaking so terribly I had to pull over and call my OnStar to let them know I needed some service, they told me, capital city Buick GMC was close by and I opted to drive myself there to the service center in hopes that someone could save me. I was met with the most wonderful service tech, Casey! I told him my situation and he quickly stepped into action to help me. Even though they looked extremely busy, he took my car to the back and had a tech look at it. It turned out there was just some rocks or ice on the weight of the wheel and they were able to clear it out for me so I could get back on the road. Casey did this in about 20 minutes and charged me nothing, I was so overjoyed I wish I could've hugged him he really was someone who saw my need and stepped in and helped me! He is a gem to the service department and I hope that he receives the highest recognition for helping me. Gmc for life!!!! If I could give 0 stars, I would. Very pushy sales team ("Professionals") that takes advantage of and prey on people with less than perfect credit. They back you into a corner and basically scare you and make you sign contracts under extreme duress. They sell used junks with many problems that have not even been through the shop to be checked out yet. I'm not saying don't go there, just be forewarned. I am going through a nightmare with a 2011 Traverse I bought here 1 year ago. Steering is rough and sounds like two pieces of corduroy rubbing together, transmission has shifting problems, awful gear oil smell in the interior when running the HVAC system. Bought a 1 year old used car from these clowns less than a year ago and during a routine maintenance visit to my local dealer they poiinted out that the poor repainting of the front of the car was coming off and asked if I wanted it done right. I said, what repainting? They showed me where the car had been oversprayed and said it wasn't covered under my warranty. I conacted Ed Farr, and he was less than cordial, actually hanging up on me. I reached out to the BBB of VT and the VT Consumer Assistance Program (both of which can do nothing) with no satisfactory response from Capitol City. If I lived in VT, I'd take them to small claims court. This appears to be a recurring theme with these guys. Isn't there some agency that can put a stop to this illegal activity? I wrote a review on about this dealership (12/9/14) that looks like its been taken down. I had been receiving many offers from them to buy my current car (they somehow had year, make, and model). When I called to tell them to stop, they said it wasn't their problem and I should contact the state about it. After receiving more, I contacted the state of Vt, GM HQ, BBB, and the dealership again to make it stop. Guess what I got in the mail today ......... I bought a car from this dealership about 2 months ago. Upon buying it, it has been nothing but problems. They insured me that it had brand new brakes & was good to go. Everytime I even tapped on my brakes they would scream. I had to bring my car down 3 times within a month to finally have them replace them for free. When bringing the vehicle down every other time I told them that there was a faint squeeling noise coming from the vehicle, but stopped when applying my brakes. I informed them that I thought it was a belt. This never got fixed. On my third visit I then told them that my vehicle was stalling when I sometimes stop. This never got fixed either. They took it for a "test drive" for about 3 miles and said "no problems found". I am now bringing my vehicle down for the 4th time in 2 months to have them fix 2 problems that they never even bothered to look at. Being as frustrated as I was when bringing the vehicle down my 3rd time, I informed my sales man that I was extremely unhappy with the purchase, that it has been nothing but problems and that I couldn't afford to get stuck with a 5 year loan when my car's about to shit the bed. I told him I wanted my loan eliminated and to get a different car for around my price range. About a week & a half later I still hadn't heard back so I emailed him asking what the outcome was. He told me that my only option was to up my monthly amount & to put a down payment down. I told him this wouldn't work and to find another option. I then told him to please have the General Manager to look into this. A week later I called to make my appointment for my 4th service call. When calling, they told me they would give the General Manager & sales man my information and to call me back. After 4 hours without a call back, I called to speak with their General Manager. I couldn't even believe how rude he was. It blew my mind. After telling him how many times I've had to bring my car down for repetative problems, and how un-happy I was with their service, all he had to say was "well, I guess your options are you getting an attorney, or coming down here to speak it out with me, or looking for a new car". An attorney? Is that a joke? I tried to tell him that I wanted to know what ALL my options were and that I couldn't believe how terrible the service had been. His response was "well all you're doing is talking." and continued to talk over me. After telling him I was bringing my car down AGAIN for the 4th time monday, I told him I would be looking for him when coming to pick it up. My plan is to speak with the Owner of Capital City if he continues to be a complete douche bag and not help out a customer. read more

This dealership has little regard for the customer experience and through their Internet sales, sets false expectations to lure in potential buyers. They advertised a used GMC truck in AutoTrader. I called the dealership and told the salesman that I was interested, that I wanted to help out my 82 year old cousin, who no longer drives, by trading in his truck, and that I would be driving 300 miles from NJ. The salesman encouraged me to make the drive and said they would make me a great deal as they are a high volume truck dealer. Twice I asked him to give me a price range on the trade in and he refused which should have been my clue of what was to come. When I got to the dealership they refused to negotiate price on the truck and offered me $4,000 less for my cousin's truck than four other dealerships had offered. Efforts to negotiate a better deal were fruitless as the salesman said they underpriced the truck price and wanted to make up the profit by lowering the trade in price. I could not in good conscience allow my cousin to take a $4,000 loss. So the debacle cost me $300 in gas, tolls and hotel, 10 hours of my time, and added 600 miles to a truck I am trying to sell. Had the salesman and dealership been honest and transparent over the telephone about the financials this could have been avoided. Capitol City GMC doesn't understand the Internet values that demands sellers to make accurate representations to customers who are remote and relying on their word. The two salesmen I interacted with - Mike and Travis -epitomized the stereotype of car salesmen who care only about how much money they can make off of you. Stay away from these people! My husband and I went to Capitol City GMC to buy a vehicle as we had gone to them for years to have our vehicles service. We were told we could only receive the rebates and incentives that were being offered at the time if we took the higher rate financing available through GMC. We asked if there other options available more than once and were told no. They told us to keep the loan for three months and then just refinance. I found out from another GMC dealer that they don't get their percentage unless we keep the loan for 3 months. When we confronted the general manager Ed Farr he was very rude and lied and said we were offered other options. Long story short, not honest people so beware if you choose to deal with them. Don't go here. Worst experience ever. Tricked into a lease and traded our car for a lousy $100. Pushed thru the paperwork fast and never was explained anything, other than what our payment would be. Got home and looked at the paperwork and found out they gave us $100 for our car, a 2010 Ford Fusion in good shape. Book price was around $7800 for an average. Never will we every recommend this place. When we tried to work with them and have them make it right we were told that too bad, the paperwork was signed and it was a done deal. I have heard horror stories about this place, (tried to sell woman car that couldnt be inspected), but i wanted to give them a fair try. So my wife and I dealt with Armel who was great! We bought a 2017 buick envision that is great. I bought a used chevy 2500 truck from them. Again this is where the issues come with this dealership. The truck they sold me had issues from moment I drove off lot. Brakes Squeaked, tire sensor light came on day after I got home with it. Thought maybe weather was factor since it was so rainy this year. Not the case. When I went to get my first free oil change guy said he would look at tires but thought it was weather as the cause, after looking he came out and told my wife all tires needed to be sealed for $70 also said that lug nuts would all have to be replaced soon $150 dollars. Now this truck sits in my garage most days because I am in sales and travel isn't a good idea with a truck, so again they sold me a truck that had these issues before it left with me. Again the stories I have heard are same thing, they don't inspect used vehicles before they sell them to you. Try to get you to get extended warranty for an extra 150 dollars a month and then when you don't want that they use that against you when you want the problems that were there before you got truck fixed. OWNER himself told me I should have gotten extended warranty, thats the quality you get there. AGAIN ARMEL is GREAT! I feel bad such a good man works in such a slimy place. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

Going to the Captiol City GMC/Buick dealershop (http://www.capitolcityautos.com) was the worst experience I've ever had with any type of sales company, and they did the old bait and switch on me with a falsely reported ad. I responded to a ad posted by Capitol city Buick gmc in auto trader on 9/27/13, for a white, 2011 gmc Sierra 1500 with 6,200 miles for just under $25,000. I called and spoke with a sales person Nathan Williams, who was very friendly and helpful in reassuring me that there was nothing wrong with this truck and that it was listed for such a great price because they were trying to sell it quickly. I explained that I was comin from cape cod and driving 350 miles up to berlin vt to get this specific truck and was reassured that night that the car was still there and I should come up first thing in the morning to get it. So I called back that night and had them send me the car fax and checked it before makin a commitment, and again asked if they were certain the truck was available, still Nathan told me yes. The next morning,9/29/13, I called from the road before entering New Hampshire and Nathan told me again to continue to come up and he's scrambling to get the truck ready and speaking with his sales manager, Travis Pierce (http://www.capitolcityautos.com/MeetOurTeam), about the truck. I called again a hour later and Nathan Williams could not answer this time, when Nathan called me back he said he was speaking with his manager (Travis Pierce) about the truck and bringing it in for me to test drive and still he told me to come in. Once I arrived a sales person, Karl Preus, told me that I'd be working with him instead. I found this to be odd because sales people would never give up there commission, but I realized later it was because Karl was arrogant and rude so he did not care about having to pull off the act of trying to convince me the truck was really suppose to be available. Karl Preus assessed my trade-in and talked to me about what I found interesting regarding this truck and if I had the original ad, which I presented to him. They got all my information and said were just waiting to get the car back from someone who got it as a loaner while they had work done on their car, this was the first time I heard this. They told me it was due back today, 9/29/13, and it should be in shortly. About five minute of going through and processing my information, that was when the manager, Travis Pierce, came over and said the truck was gone. Apparently it was loaned out for the past while to a person who works there and he put about 30,000 miles on the truck and put a down payment for it that morning (9/29/13) which was unfortunately convenient. They then proceeded to tell me that they would "take care of me" and by that they meant put me in a new car for a good deal, or make it up on another truck in the lot. Karl Preus proceeded to walk me around the lot and look at other cars, all the while suggesting it was ok that this happens because I'm going Burlington VT after and I could go, "to get some young p***y". Karl used lots of vulgar language and thought it was appropriate to try and relate to me in this fashion. Preus then tried to remedy this by saying, "you want me to hold down the black guy (Nathan Williams) while you punch him." At no point did I receive any type of authentic apology or attempt to remedy the wrong doing of using a false ad to get me to drive a total of 700 miles up to berlin from cape coda. During the 4 hour drive home I still never received a call from the scumbag manager, Travis Pierce, to apologize or even offering to give me some gas money to compensate for the 24 gallons of gas i burned, or the 700+ miles I put on my car that day. Again this was the worst experience I have ever had and look forward to never looking at another gm vehicle again if this is the type of people they hire to run their business. read more

Honestly, the worst car buying experience in my life!! I contacted Capital City Buick GMC last Saturday regarding a "new" 2015 Yukon they had listed on their website. I spoke with a sales associate, Jay T. about the vehicle to ensure it was still available. He confirmed it was. I had been seriously car shopping for about a month and was ready to buy, however before making the 170 miles trip to Berlin, Vermont from Massachusetts, I felt I needed to make sure I was not wasting a Saturday for myself, my family, or the dealership staff. I asked Jay if the price on the Yukon was firm, or if there was room to negotiate further, and he assured me there was still room to negotiate. I also told Jay what the specifics of what my trade would be and its condition as assessed by four other dealerships. I wanted to make sure my trade was most likely going to be in the same range as the others. He assured me I was visiting on a special day because they just so happened to have some corporate appraisers on hand to ensure they paid top dollar for the trade. Let me also mention he assured me of two other things; their dealership had NEVER lost a deal based on a trade AND his offer on my vehicle would be just as strong as other dealerships in my area assuming the condition of my vehicle was as described. Based upon these facts, my family and I decided to make the trip to test drive the vehicle. Jay told me he would get the vehicle prepared for our arrival and told me to see the Sales Manager, Travis P. when I arrived. We set an APPOINTMENT to meet with Travis for 3:00 p.m. My family and I drove the 170 or so miles and arrived promptly at 3:00 p.m. My children were very excited about the prospect of a big SUV and looked for it as we pulled n the parking lot. Though told it would be prepared and "out front" when we arrived, it sadly wasn't. I was met at the door by Jay who showed us our name on their "VIP Board" and then he went over to Travis as we had discussed. After a few minutes, Jay returned and informed us Travis was unable to see us so we ended up speaking to another Sales Consultant, Scott C.. He went across the street to a secondary lot and retrieved the vehicle. It was evident no "preparation" of the vehicle took place; it was quite dirty. That didn't bother me, it was frustrating only because I was again told something that was untrue; that the vehicle was to be prepared and out in front of the dealership upon our arrival. My family and I took the vehicle for a test drive while their "expert appraisers" assessed our vehicle's value. During the test drive we all heard a loud rotor-like noise come from the vehicle; all windows and the sunroof were fully closed so we were perplexed on what the noise could be. We drove back to the dealership and told Scott about the noise. He stated it was a known issue with that truck and there was a repair available to fix it, they just hadn't done it yet. Keep in mind this is a relatively expensive, NEW vehicle. In all fairness, Scott did state the vehicle would be fixed if I decided to purchase it. I was just surprised it sat on the dealership lot for many months without being fixed. Scott and I then sat down to discuss all the financial aspects of the deal. While this took quite some time, it was not unreasonably long. Unfortunately however, it quickly became evident I had fallen victim to the exact sales tactic that has given the car buying experience such a bad reputation for the 24 years I've been driving; dishonesty and empty promises. Despite Jay's confirmation they would offer a very competitive trade offer (assuming my vehicle's condition was as I described it and they did not contest it was not), they failed to even come close to any recent appraisals I had received (including one just the day before). Remember, Jay also told me over the phone the dealership never lost a deal due to a trade. Jay was also dishonest in his statement to me over the phone that the new vehicle's price was further negotiable; it was not and was told the vehicle was already discounted below MSRP. It became clear we would be unable to agree on terms, nor did I want to at that point after feeling deceived and that my family's time was not valued. Before leaving, I asked to speak to Travis to politely express my dissatisfaction and frustration over all that occurred. He looked at me coldly and stated it was not their business practice to inform customers of potential trade values or negotiate prices over the phone; this left me feeling he was implying I was not being truthful about my experience with his staff. He also was unapologetic about not keeping his appointment with my family and I. His attitude and cold demeanor said it all that day; this dealership is far more interested making a one time sale, than it is about long-term customer service and satisfaction, and they will do anything, to include lying and manipulating potential buyers, to make a sale. read more

I stopped today, 1 May 15 to see what this dealership had for trucks. The sales person, Joe Lee. met us in the lot and showed us a used truck. We were interested and asked the price. Joe threw out several "about" prices and when we pinned him down for the actual price he brought us in the office to get it. Joe also told us he had another vehicle on his other lot just down the road and could get it for us. He indicated the lot was toward Montpelier. When in the office, Joe filled out a form to give to the business manager for review. We indicated we did not want any credit inquiry before we knew the price and we had our trade in valued. Joe told us it was only a soft inquiry and would not affect our credit. They ran the report twice because they said they could not find any rating. We did not ever find out the price for the truck. We also did not see the truck on their other lot just down the road because it was in LITTLETON, NH!!!!! When we arrived home, we found out that the credit inquiry they did was in fact a HARD inquiry!!!. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE LIARS!!!! I called to talk to the GM and he did not even care to hear what the issue was!!!!!
