Purchased a used car, not from the dealer. I was having problems, and the dealer I purchased it from kept saying it was my issue. I took the car to 802 Subaru, and the were able to diagnose the issue and fix it. I also used them for my routine maintenance. The experience was pleasant, much more pleasant than any other place I have been to. They were honest in what they did, with no upselling, or selling me things I did not need. I have found a new place to use for routine maintenance. read more

This review is for the service center. The pro: - Service desk folks are incredibly polite and generally communicative about progress. The cons: - Based on a few years of service, it seems like most of their mechanics are very inexperienced or just don't care. They managed to screw up a coolant flush causing my engine to overheat--god knows what that did to my headgaskets. I also had a loud droning from a failing wheel bearing that they couldn't diagnose, even after I told them what it was. (A private shop confirmed and fixed it.) They will gaslight ANY customer (with a friendly smile!) to avoid admitting fault or covering extra labor. There's not much Subaru of America can do for you, either, once your vehicle is out of warranty. You are better off going to an independent shop in almost any situation, especially out of warranty. read more

I was in a real pinch on Monday afternoon with a flat tire and needed to get to a meeting on the other side of the state. The service staff at 802 Subaru were exemplary--helpful, and efficient. They found me a loaner within minutes, and I was on my way. Over the next couple of days, they kept me updated on their progress (tires needed to be ordered) and made sure I was okay with the loaner. We presented with a somewhat complicated situation, and they generously assisted with all of it, including a somewhat unrelated private sale that they really didn't have to help with, just to help make sure we did everything properly. Desmond, Bobby, and Nick were all incredibly friendly and professional. As we were finishing up at the dealership, I said to our Sales Consultant, Bobby, that this was the most fun I'd ever had while buying a car. Exactly, not good! These people could have cared less about me or my car. They did not call me, even once! I had to phone them to get an update. I don't understand why the said to bring my car in for service if they were not going to figure out what was wrong. After a week they returned my car dirty, the hood was popped and there was a hugh greasy piece of the vehicle resting in the back seat leaving stains on my seats while the trunk was lined and completely empty. For the sake of your sanity and your wallet, stay away. Made the severe mistake of taking my car here. The guys replaced my engine. Good. Problem is that in doing so that cracked my transmission housing, causing failure and requiring a new transmission. Instead of owning their mistake, like a decent shop would, they initially claimed that I somehow cracked my own transmission and later said that the transmission had already failed when I brought it in and they had "misdiagnosed it". Either way, I thru 4K down the drain on a car that was already totaled due to a transmission failure. I'm in customer service and I get it. It's not fun. But these guys are incompetent beyond words. Go elsewhere. Oh, almost forgot. For my trouble, instead of fixing the problem they decided to wash my car. read more

Dicked around and made me wait for several hours, to offer me $2485 on a trade in...finally got it up to $4000, which i knew was way underpriced, but finally accepted because i needed to make a deal asap. Then they turn around and price my trade at $11,995. In addition, they pull out all the typical douchey car salesman tactics in their interactions, then act all offended when you aren't enamored. Our engine oil light came on when we were driving 6/8/23. Called a new garage, and the mechanic recommended we go to Twin City, as the garage doesn't have the oil we needed. Called Twin City and the person who answered told us to come in, and look for Kevin. Luckily we were only 3 miles away. Drove into the parking lot, went in, and met up with Kevin. He showed my husband how to check the oil level (which was low), and top up with the appropriate oil. Everyone was very courteous and helpful. We were able to get to our destination on time. I'm posting this review for the service center at Twin State, but I can't say enough about the whole organization also. From Frankie in sales to John in financing, and Des at the big desk, my experience started out great. Today I dealt with the service center for the first time and was blown away by everyone I interacted with. Chris took the lead on getting me in last minute and avoiding my need for a loaner or rental to get me through the next day. (Now is the part where I forget names because I'm terrible at it) the women at the counter were very kind and helpful, one even told me that I left my flashlight on my phone on like a big dummy (she seems like the kind of friend that would tell you if you have food in your teeth, and that's the best kind of friend). The mechanic was great and explained my issue and how he would resolve it and I was even able to schedule a future appointment with Clara to have a hitch installed and had a nice conversation with the parts guy about a cargo basket for my Thule crossbars. While I was waiting, Frankie came over to say hi and gave me a pair of sunglasses for my daughter that she asked about, 3 months ago. In Vermont there are many options on where to buy a Subaru... it's Vermont. I could probably stick my head out the window and yell "need a Subaru over here!" and 3 people would walk over with an offer. My wife and I chose and will continue to choose Twin City, because of the care, attention to detail, friendliness and overall great service we have received thus far. I went to Twin City with the hope of buying a used car. The saleswomen, Jenn, was very helpful and worked with us to find the right option. I would deffinetly recommend working with her. However, when we went to talk finacing with Matt and Desmond they were rude, uncompromising and bullies. They would not let my father and I have 5 minutes to discuss if the interest rate and monthly payment was reasonable. They refused to entertain the idea that we may be able to get a lower interest rate and payment somewhere else, and demanded we make a decison on this deal on the spot even though they had strung us along for two hours prior to this without providing any information about the payments or interest rates. At this point we walked out as they rudely stated this was our only option for a used Outback and they knew better than us. Two hours after this terrible experience, I excitedly left Burlington Subaru where I was able to easily buy a used Outback with a deal that worked for me! I will not be returning to Twin City in the future which is unfortante as there selection of used Subarus was quiet nice. read more

The Service Team at Twin City Subaru are fantastic. There was torrential rain during a "bomb cyclone" and my windshield wiper arm broke. I brought my car, not a Subaru, to the dealership for emergency assistance. Without hesitation, the staff was professional, calming and friendly. They pulled my car in immediately and reattached the wiper so I could get to my destination safely. A very happy third time Subaru owner, I recently purchased a new Outback Touring XT.  My 2013 3.6R Outback was over 155,000 miles and I really wanted to hit 200k on it, but things happened.  I was in a pinch.  The XT was all the way in Vermont while I live in Connecticut...turned out not be an issue at all!  Luckily I had some work to do in Vermont the day after contacting Jose and Oliver Dylan Otis at Twin CIty. They handled all the parts on their end as if I were across the desk from them.  Never really would have thought that a sight-unseen car purchase without a dealer visit would go so well.,  The day after I contacted them I filled out my credit app, and sent the needed things like license, current registration and insurance.  A deliver driver, Cinder (short for Cindy), met me where I was in Vermont just one day after.  SO...within two days I was in a new car I needed.  NO pressure even with them knowing the position I was in.  Thank you TC Team! read more

I don't normally write reviews with situations like this but I am seriously so happy with this facility that I literally want to tell everyone I know to buy their cars and get their maintenance done here! I went in to change out to winter tires and they fit me in ASAP and the price came back less than the smaller garages that quoted me! They found out the catalytic converter was cracked and leaking and these god send of a group of people got me in the next week and made sure it was covered under the warranty package I had! Had a beautiful loaner for two days and they also ordered parts and fixed my broken windows in this time! The car is driving like a night and day difference-it feels so good. I also want to note I had the best experience with the people working there-so kind and it makes all the difference especially during a rough year. I'm so happy, we are in need of another car soon for my husband and will 1000 percent be going here. read more

I purchased my new car here in 2013 and had a wonderful experience. Since my initial purchase it has been an unfortunate downhill spiral. The kind and friendly service managers have been replaced. Every service appointment I have made they act like it is a chore when I mention an additional item for them to look into. Customer service is abysmal. Additionally, no matter the time of year they are scheduled 3-4 weeks out. This is just unacceptable for a dealership. Unfortunately, I think these issues are bred out of being the only subaru dealer in central VT. I will be taking my business to Burlington where customer service is top notch, prices are often more competitive and you can actual get your car serviced in a timely manor. read more

Will never go to this dealership again! Saw a pretty nice car that I wanted to take to my mechanic get it looked over. They did not want me to take it to him because wasnt a business, which I understand for insurance reasons- called a friend at another dealership and asked if they could fit me in for a look at the car, they said yes. Went back inside to tell them where i was gonna take the car and they said "no you cant take it their! I will not allow my car to go to that shop" you can call these 3 other dealerships- all of them were 802 shops! With the sales person they wanted me to commit $1000 that I would not get back if I didn't get approved or my mechanic found something wrong with it. 2017 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium, color was red. I dont know if they are hiding something or not but I would suggest to stay away! overall I rate them 1 out of 5 stars had plenty of cars their for sale but no one was friendly! read more

I dropped my car off on Saturday 8/6 for inspection pick up for my car was delayed three times. When I called to check the status on Monday it was a small issue of whether I wanted an aftermarket wheel bearing put in. Then later that day I was surprised to get a call saying the warranty on my car no longer covered anything due to mileage after being told it would cover everything but the brakes and oil change. Which I had to remind Clara about the oil change multiple times. Clara asked if I just wanted done what was needed for inspection. I asked what the total of fixing everything would be including the things that didn't fail but were not in the best shape and she said 1200 roughly but that's before taxes and I do have a coupon for the wheel bearing. I bit the bullet and said fix everything. When I called Tuesday morning to make sure there were no other issues Brenda answered the phone and she was a real delight. In fact, she just asked me to call back the next day because Clara wasn't in. Which okay but I need to know about my car today because I am supposed to pick it up Wednesday morning. Which even after saying I work nights, they expected me to pick it up at 2pm. I called Wednesday morning spoke with Brenda again because Clara was still out. The car was on the lift and should be done by noon. I had a funeral to attend and work to get to that night noon was not a good time. I asked if I could just pick the car up Thursday morning. Brenda seemed to feel this was a personal but still got clearance from her supervisor. I got to Twin City Thursday morning to pick up the SUV. Clara was in and the lobby was full. Clara happened to be the one available to help me and upon seeing me goes "Oh, let me check and make sure your oil change is done" which translated into I never added it to the paperwork and now that I am seeing you I remember. According to Clara, "They're waiting on a filter and it should be here around noon you can keep the loaner for the night and come back tomorrow or stop in later". I am just annoyed and over everything I just want my car. She was going over the final cost of everything and it came in less than expected at 900ish. She showed me the discount on the wheel bearing and while it wasn't a lot, I really appreciate any savings. Amongst all this she said, "I also added a quote for the other parts as well". To which I was confused and said, "Wait did you only do the brakes?" she said, "No no we did more." By more she meant they did the wheel bearing. They did not do the extras I requested get done, that THEY said were going bad. When I voiced this, she said, "Oh, I didn't know when you said do everything you meant that too. If I had known I would have told you it's a waste of your money and just comeback in 6 months to get them fixed, then". I get things occur and part delivery isn't with in their control. I get it that the mileage on my car is not in their control either. You know what is? Checking to make sure there's a warranty still, adding the oil change to the paperwork, doing all the work that was asked, not just asking someone to call back the next day because you don't want to deal with the situation, respecting my time as a person, especially after I made my difficult schedule clear. I did not go to the dealership on a Saturday because it's fun I went because it's my only time off. It is not your choice to make whether it is a waste of my money to have everything fixed on my car. I am allowed to have plans and Since Saturday 8/6 life has been on hold waiting to see when my car would be done so I could try and make time to pick it up. Done on Monday like originally stated? Nope. How about Tuesday like stated? Nope. Ready by Wednesday morning? Nope. How about I pick it up Thursday morning instead? Did you want all the work done to your car you asked for? Too bad. Then on the service paperwork that recaps everything done, in the note section it says, "Small oil leak right side of the motor have checked at next oil change". read more

No service, no caring and no loyalty Bought a 2011 Subura Forester brand new, railroaded into a warranty I did not need. Move forward to 2018, 150k loved the car, did not know if I wanted to invest in it or not. Service know of a rotted transmission line and let me drive home. Thankfully car died in the driveway. For $95.00 an hour and Subaru loyalty, one would expect a different level of service. Save yourself grief and money and avoid this place. read more

On a recent service visit, the bill ended up being twice what what they had quoted. Their excuse: they had only quoted half of the things that they were going to do. On the visit prior to that, it took them all day (and three mechanics) to diagnose a noise - even though I had told them what was making the noise when I dropped off the car. We bought a used Subaru from Twin City Subaru and and I made a few very stupid mistakes: 1. I did not have my own mechanic check out the car before purchase 2. I did not realize that by buying from a dealer you were not getting a well-checked out used car 3. I did not realize (yes I know stupid) that there are dealer certified warranties and severely lacking warranties (one year). We bought the used Subaru Forrester with about 70,000 miles on it, not a lot I am told by Subaru people. 18 months later we put 4,000 miles on it driving back and forth from school and I am now being told the head gasket (which Subaru people say will fail in almost all Subarus around 100,000 miles) needs to be replaced for $3500. The Subaru dealers in Burlington say they will not re-sell a Subaru around that mileage without first replacing the head gasket as they so commonly fail. Live and learn,,,my stupidity completely. Take any used car you are thinking of buying from them to your own mechanic first and do not buy any used Subaru around the 70,000-80,000 mile mark without being absolutely certain the dealer has replaced the head gasket. read more

I booked my car in for service weeks in advance. Using their website I had to enter a TON of information including VIN#, etc. After all that it said I would get a message confirming it. A day later I got an email saying a certain service manager would be contacting me soon. After a week I emailed back and got a response that someone would contact me soon. After another week I called and was told I was not on the schedule. Since it was for a weekday and I was planning to drive over an hour to get there, I'd already blocked the day out. I was told they were very sorry but this has been happening with others who used the online booking - so why are they keeping the online booking up? And rather than rescheduling on the spot, I was transferred to a service manager's voicemail. I left my name and number, but she never called back. They don't want my business? Fine. Salesman is awful. Stay clear of Eric Lane. I have never met a man as unprofessional as him. Pressuring someone into making a deal on a used car, and then not even being willing to negotiate. Also, how rude to tell a customer that he strongly believes that they will not be able to purchase a vehicle on their own. He takes a very aggressive approach to his sales style. He wouldn't even give me my car keys to leave the dealership. I had to ask for them multiple times before he would tell me where they are. The manager is just the same. I called multiple times to make a complaint after my visit, and the manager ignored my calls every time. I will never step foot at Twin City Subaru again. My suggestion, go next door to 802 Toyota. The staff there is much more pleasant. read more

I want to start by saying I did research for seven months before buying a car at Twin City Subaru. I Searched Maine, NH and Vermont and found their reviews to be great and now I know why. I had emailed to get a quote on a Subaru Outback that had just come in and had no photos of it online. I was contacted right away and I was even sent a little video clip on YouTube from Alex Nicholson next to the car I was very interested in. My husband and I made an appointment to see them two hours away and I'm glad we did. We loved it. While we were there our daughter locked us out of our car. They were more than happy to help us break into the car with their kit, that made my day. We ended up getting the car at a great price with the help of Desmond Culcleasure. He was great and super friendly as well. I really couldn't have asked for a better team of sales associates. They even called a week later to make sure we were happy and all set. They will see us again for sure when we need another vehicle. I will keep you posted in the future as well but for now I'm super happy.. read more

Twin City Subaru ruined my car! I had purchased an Impreza out of state and started going to Twin City for regular service in 2011. For the first few years I had great experiances. In 2016 I was told my head gasket was leaking and needed to be replaced. Knowing this was a common occurance I bit the bullet and scraped together the almost $2000 to fix it. The next time I visited I was quoted $1800 in repairs for my car to pass inspection. I took it to a local mechanic looking for a better deal. They could not locate any of the issues, nor could the dealership in Burlington. When I contacted the service manager about this I received threatening emails in response. I moved shortly there after and began taking my Impreza to another dealership for services. Just over a year after my head gasket replacement. The new dealership said it was leaking. I told them it had been replaced and they assumed it was the other side leaking. We were all wrong! Upon further inspection, I was told there was a gouge in the engine under the head gasket that was from an error made in the initial repair and it would be $3000 to repair. I am a Special Ed teacher and grad student. I had to sell the car at auction and get a used car . My Impreza should have had years left, but Twin Citys careless, incompetent, greedy service department robbed me of that time. read more

Seven months later, still dealing with the fallout from a repair episode with Twin City's service department. Head gaskets blew (63k miles) on a weekend trip to Vermont. The nearest authorized dealer was found to be Twin City in Berlin, VT. Had our Outback towed here and here it sat for a MONTH while engine repairs were performed. Engine was serviced, we paid our balance and the first things noticed post repair were missing parts from underneath the hood and a broken air conditioning system. The air compressor was found to be in good working condition but the clip on it was broken. It's difficult to prove that the repairman broke the A/C compressor clip but with so many other details post repair left unattended, easy to believe it could have happened. It is also an easy decision to report our bad experience here and recommend others to not go here; we would have been better served somewhere else. In fact our experience was so bad it is almost a joke, except it has not been so funny because it has been expensive and time-intensive in setting things right AFTER the repairs. Documented car parts missing after "finished" engine work: underneath splash guard, intake cover, and intake clips are missing. The resonator chamber tank under the air box was completely disconnected from the air filter housing. Hopefully this is all and we won't find more. Our local authorized dealer was shocked by Twin City's lack of attention and lack of professionalism; they are embarrassed this work was done by a Subaru dealer. Good luck negotiating with the service manager at Twin City; no responsibility is assumed for the lack of quality controls. Carry on when you consider Twin City Subaru and find a place that will serve you better. read more

To begin with, a few months ago Twin City lost my business to St J Subaru who did a much better deal on my new 2016 WRX STI. I decided that when shopping for a new 2016 WRX for my girlfriend I would give them another shot at earning my business and was assured that they would give me the best around and that there was no reason for me to drive anywhere else. Our Salesman was very nice and we enjoyed dealing with him. We put down a deposit on the cat and wrote up some paperwork so we could hold the car. After thinking about it later that night it seemed like the payment was a bit high for a lease with almost $6000 down in the form of a trade so I did a little research and found that the payment was $100 higher than it should be for someone with excellent credit. I also called St J and was offered a deal with a payment of $100/month lower for the same car and same terms. In other words, the dealership was trying to retain $3600 of my girlfriends money (she is a graduate student and also works full time with disabled children) for themselves. I called and explained that unless they gave a more reasonable deal we would have to take our business elsewhere. Desmond's response was to lie to me and say that we were in a legally binding contract and would be charged for the car whether we like it or not even though we had never traded in her car. If I didn't know the consumer laws better, being a former car sales person from one of the country's largest dealerships, I may have believed him. They also went into their system and marked the car as being taken immediately after I called them so they could try to keep other dealers from being able to take it from their stock. We went to the dealership and took her deposit back, all the while Desmond kept lying and saying "you're going to get billed. Go ahead, have two car payments." I was genuinely surprised at how unprofessional he was. Honestly, who lies to consumers like that and thinks that's ok? Needless to say, next time I purchase another Subaru I won't even give Twin City a try because this was one too many times. read more
