I brought my car here for the first time this past fall, after moving to Waterbury. They were able to fit me in same day to replace my leaking muffler. When I picked my car up, Camie told me I would eventually need a new converter pipe and potentially other exhaust work, which could cost up to $1200-$1300. My parts were all pretty rusty. I panicked, since I was in the middle of a divorce and having a terrible year and that was a huge amount of money. Well, I decided to wait as long as possible to have it done--so flash forward 6 months or so, and I made an appointment for early March. Imagine my shock and excitement when Camie called me that morning and told me I actually only had surface rust damage and didn't need a new converter pipe or manifold yet--at least for another year! I have always had terrible experience with mechanics, but my experiences here have completely changed that! I didn't feel taken advantage of like I had in other places. After all, what mechanic calls to tell you your repair bill will be way LESS than what they quoted?! Amazing. I have also had my serpentine belt replaced here, as well as several oil changes. They have taken care of my 'little blue' and I could not be happier. Camie is wonderful and is so pleasant to deal with. I am a now a Ted's customer for life! read more

I've taken my 2015 Jeep Cherokee to Teds for a few years now when I got sick of dealer up charges. I've had nothing but trouble with my brakes since they did them for me. Rear brake job done at 43,284 on the odometer. I had to have them done again at 55,942 miles. After the first time getting the back brakes done I had to ask for quality parts to be put on and I had to pay for it. I should have stuck with the dealer as the markup on parts was 65% on the rotors (Charged me $129.02, part lookup on NAPA site $77.99) and 55% markup on pads (Charged me $79.54, part lookup on NAPA site $44.99). At least these have lasted for a premium price. The front brakes were done at 55,942 miles and I insisted on warranty at 65,356 and again one rotor at 73K. They blame it on not driving enough. If they didn't use such low quality parts and charge a 55% markup for the parts shop to drive them over I probably wouldn't be looking at doing my front brakes again. Car brakes last longer than 10k miles when using proper parts. I'd steer clear of this shop. read more

I went to Ted's Kar Kare in Waterbury,VT to get an inspection done and have a new muffler put on. The muffler job was great. I was told that I needed new front ball joints to pass inspection. Which seemed odd because they were replaced recently before. I took my truck to another dealer a few days later. They put my truck up on the lift and showed me how loose the drive shaft was. When I asked about the ball joints, I watched the guy try to shake my tires they didn't budge. Plus he pointed out they looked new. Moral of the story is that they were so busy trying to sell me something I didn't need they overlooked the loose drive shaft. Either that or they loosened it. I would like to have faith in humanity. However, I have become aware of how these people operate. This posting is true in its entirety. I have the estimate slip they gave me for the ball joints, and I still have the ball joints on my truck, if anyone would like to take a look at them. read more

I DO NOT recommend this shop!!! I took my car there to get a wheel bearing replaced and they did not pop the axel all of the way back in. This caused a lot of damage that I found out about when I took my car in to another shop. The owner was completely rude to me when I tried to discuss the matter with him, and told me it wasn't his "problem." NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! read more
