Northern Pacific Exteriors

I hired NP Exteriors to install my roof and gutters in 2018…read more They were one of the more expensive bids I got, but I just had a good feeling about them, and I was right. They were very professional and informative through the whole project. They made a mistake and took ownership of it and came back out to repair it (needed 1-2 more hole vents in my eaves). More so, a couple years later, when I was getting chimney work done, it was noted I had a leak along my chimney. I contacted NP exeriors, they came out to look and had the issue corrected within a few days.

We have a 35 year old house that has cedar siding.  The south end takes a beating between the…read morewinter "Pineapple Express" storms and the summer sun.  Over time, even though it was painted regularly, the siding failed.  Finding some rot last summer, we decided to have this south end's siding replaced.  Do we select cedar again or something like James Hardie "HardiePlank"? Although I'm now retired, I worked for a company that was the major supplier of wood cellulose to James Hardie USA.  I was the salesman to Hardie.  Knowing what I know of HardiePlank, I decided to go with something "bullet proof" that could stand up to the harsh elements we have on that end of the house and offer a warranty. Doing on-line research, I saw that many said they could install Hardie products, but only a few were rated "Elite Preferred" by James Hardie. My memory of Hardie was the product failures are mostly caused by improper handling and installation.  Having the siding installed by manufacturer standards was important to me. A few "Elite Preferred" siding contractors came out to give is a bid.  Kurt of Northern Pacific did their bid.  He was so informative!  Due to my past relationship with James Hardie, I am not the "normal" Hardie customer.   Kurt was the most direct and clear - no sales bluster.  On that basis, I chose Northern Pacific. This was comparatively a small job and they were able to squeeze it in just before Thanksgiving.  I was concerned it would be done in the late Fall with risk of weather damage when the side was opened up.  A few my nervous calls to Michelle (NP's general manager) assured me all would be done with out rain risk.  Just before the install date, Ben (the site foreman) came to do some final job scoping.  He was also very good and clear in answering my many questions and concerns. The crew who did the install was first rate.  They really hustle!  The cedar siding tear down did reveal some damage to the under plywood sheeting and even the structural house frame due to years of moisture getting through the wood siding.  The crew  replaced the plywood and did repairs to the rotty house frame.  The City of Olympia inspector checked the game plan off before it was done.  Within about 3 days it was done start to finish. Care was even given to make sure the profile of the new lap siding matched the pattern of siding on the adjacent side.  Visually, they look the same. Real craftsmen! The yard was clean when they were done and no damage to the house plants.  That end of the house looks super! If I had one word to summarize the Northern Pacific Exteriors experience, it is communication.  What was promised was delivered.  My many, many questions were answered. Ben the foreman often sought me out to give me a progress update as the job was being done.  Considering the rot found, this was especially helpful.  Daily, Michelle would call to ask me how the day's work went. We totally recommend Northern Pacific and will use them again should the need arise.

I want to sincerely thank Nadeem for standing behind their work and reimbursing me for the expenses I incurred. It's reassuring to work with a company that truly cares about its customers. 5 Stars!!

Our real estate agent was the initial point of contact (since we were still under contract on this…read morehouse and in the waiting period until closing) and met with someone from TN asking them to give us a comprehensive review and estimate. They completed the estimate and cited 11 windows for replacement. We closed on our new home in May 2026, promptly called TN to schedule the work, and paid 50% deposit over the phone. We then waited for the glass to come in so they could complete the work. Our experience with Top Notch has been truly awful. The initial estimate was for 11 window replacements; since we have been working with them they have only cited 8 windows. When the glass came in and they came to install it we let them into the house to get started on replacing the windows. Two contractors arrived to our house an hour late. We asked if they needed anything and they said they didn't. We were in the house the whole time and assumed they would come and check in with us before they left to get an update on work completed. The two contractors who were in our house to replace the windows left after an hour and didn't check in with us or provide any explanations. We had to go through the house and do a visual guess which windows had been replaced. On top of that we received no follow up call from TN about the work completed or any scheduling to continue and finish the work. We had to initiate and follow up with TN customer service a week later to ask about the work and report back about the lack of communication and the contractors just ghosting us an hour into their work day. The customer service team had no idea what we were talking about. In their system they had the job listed as complete. There was no communication from the 2 person contractor team that it wasn't complete. When customer service looked into it more they said several windows had broken or were the incorrect size so they would need to order more. They didn't mention that the work was incomplete. A second time we had TN contractors come out and before they got started on the work we again asked that they come and check in with us before they left for the day and let us know what work had been completed and next steps. Again, the contractors did not check in with us and just ghosted, leaving us with no information about the work completed or what additional work needed to be done. They also told us they were only there to replace one window. When we checked to see what work had been done they had left wet caulk around the one window they replaced and did not tell us or leave a note. Again, we did not hear back from customer service about work completed or any follow up on the other windows cited in the original estimate. There were no follow up calls to discuss the timeline or what work had been completed. And again, we had to initiate contact and follow up on getting the work completed that was promised in the estimate. We reached out a third time to TN customer service and they sent out a field supervisor. The supervisor was 45 minutes late. He let us know that one of the windows they had replaced was installed backwards (they had only replaced the unbroken side, not the broken side). There are 3 windows in our primary bedroom with blue tape on them placed by the original person who completed the estimate. This blue tape was to let the contractors know these windows are some of the lot to be replaced. When this contractor arrived the windows still had the blue tape on them and had not been touched by the visiting contractors from TN. The field supervisor tried to convince us the 3 additional windows from the estimate with tape on them were not intended to be replaced - even though they had placed the tape there to signify needing to be replaced. Before leaving, the field supervisor said someone would call us in production the next day to talk about next steps for ordering glass for the still broken windows. That was 2 weeks ago and no one has reached out to us. In August they had still not completed the entire estimate. We received a phone call from customer service asking for the other 50% of payment on the invoice at that time. They are asking for payment for work they had not completed and for which we already paid half of the estimate, but 50% of the work was not even completed. We worked with Tahnie in CS to make it right, get the work completed, and the project closed. She sent two new contractors out to finish the work and they finally finished the work on Monday, August 31st. Tuesday, September 1st, Tahnie and TN, over a 72 hour period, contacted us 5 times over the phone, 3 times via email, and also called our realtor to inquire about the other half of our bill. This was the first week of school for our kids and we were dealing with all that chaos, but we were also surprised by the intensity of contact and communication when it had been so non-existent prior. We paid the final balance on September 9th.

Update: Since…read moreposting this review the company has continued to threaten me by emailing me directly. I understand the company disagrees with my review, but I was disappointed by the tone of their response and the implied pressure to remove it. Being told they would publicly respond and report the review to Yelp and Google if I didn't remove it felt unnecessarily aggressive and intimidating. Also in response to their comments below Thank you for confirming the exact root of the problem: you looked at a three-pane window, saw that only the middle section was currently foggy, and assumed I only wanted that single section replaced. As a professional window company, it was your responsibility to clearly state: "We see only the middle pane is failing, so this quote is strictly for one pane of glass, not the entire window unit you asked for." You didn't do that. You just wrote "1 glass replacement" on a quote for a "window replacement" request and expected a regular homeowner to know the technical difference. The fact remains: I asked for a window replacement. I provided a photo of the entire window. Other companies looked at the exact same information and managed to quote the entire three-pane unit for a price comparable to what you charged me for just the middle section. You can keep calling a customer's genuine financial frustration "deceptive" to protect your online rating, but your own responses show a complete lack of accountability. You made an assumption, failed to communicate it clearly upfront, and I had to pay the premium for it. Prospective clients can read this back-and-forth and decide for themselves if they want to risk dealing with a company that hides behind ambiguous quote terminology instead of practicing transparent communication. I am done repeating myself. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I recently had a foggy/failing window repaired that consisted of 3 separate sections. Unfortunately, due to some miscommunication during the quoting process, only the middle section was replaced. That was really frustrating because it made the overall cost much higher compared to other companies I had received quotes from. To their credit, they did offer to replace the remaining sections at a discount after I brought up the issue. However, even with the discount, the final price still ends up being significantly more expensive than competitors. Had everything been communicated more clearly upfront, I likely would have chosen a different company. The biggest issue for me was the lack of clarity during the quoting process. It felt misleading to realize afterward that the quote only covered one section instead of the full window I thought we had discussed. That said, I do want to give credit to the installation crew because they were excellent. They were respectful, worked quickly, kept everything clean, and did quality work. My frustration is mainly with the communication and quoting side of the experience, not the installers themselves.

Looking for a Christmas miracle? Well, FDC Glass just became my holiday hero! Picture this:…read moreshattered glass panes on my front door, a dozen contractors telling me "just replace the whole door" (aka "give us more money"), and me slowly losing hope faster than a snowman in July. Enter FDC Glass, cape flapping in the wind (okay, maybe not literally, but you get the vibe). Not only was their quote actually reasonable, but they didn't hit me with the classic contractor combo of upsells and surprise charges. They even sealed up my entrance while working on the door - no extra fee, no fuss, just good old-fashioned service. The result? My door looks fantastic, my wallet isn't crying, and I'm singing their praises louder than carolers in December. I've already told my HOA about them, and you bet I'll be calling them for my other properties. TL;DR: FDC Glass = Christmas miracle workers who actually fix what's broken instead of trying to sell you a whole new house. 10/10 would recommend!

In summary- We found them to be easy to work with, w/high quality windows / doors, very courteous,…read morefast & efficient & well done installation, cleaned up after themselves well. We will absolutely use them for more window replacements in the future. Extra details if needed- We used these guys for replacing a big triple window in our front living room (they call it a "double slider" since the windows at either end open), and also for replacing our ancient sliding glass door w/a nice new one. When they came for the estimate we had them price for us replacing any/all windows in the house so we could get an overview sense of cost. We were impressed because there was no pressure and we felt very comfortable walking around w/the guy discussing options. He said he has this one couple that just save up and replace one window a year with them, and he thought that was AOK. So that made us feel much better because we're first time home owners and sometimes there's a sticker shock as we as lifelong renters get used to what things cost. The estimate came back itemized so we could see the prices and pick and choose what we were going to do now vs. maybe down the road. We didn't get estimates from anyone else because we felt really good about the estimate experience and also we knew someone who recommended them too. Then they came back to measure a 2nd time before ordering, which was impressive too. The installation went very well which was a huge relief. We have four indoor-only cats, and 3 dogs (beagles). With the cats we had to keep them all in one room during the job, so in advance we asked & they told us roughly how much time the work would take, & their time estimate was accurate. We had to leash our mischievous dogs up w/us to keep them out of the way, but the installers were also patient with us & our three dog nuttiness so that was good too. They mail you a 1 yr warranty afterwards, the manufacturer's warranty brochure, and the PSE rebate application too plus what you need to send in with it (if you're a PSE customer). Just don't be a dork like me and procrastinate because PSE says they want that rebate form back within 30 days of the installation! So anyway DK Boos was a great choice & we have zero regrets and we will use them again in the future.
