When I first walked in through the doors, it gave me pet store vibes right away. I should've turned back but I had already paid for the overpriced tickets. This was definitely not worth $20 per person. It's even more if you pay for the tokens that get you access to extra things like the sloth encounter or a picture with a Disney Princess, which is so random and odd. Princess Jasmine had a whole set up by the lemurs. It was so chaotic inside. The space itself is pretty small and each room is packed with tanks and exhibits of animals. I'm sure this place is pretty busy on a regular basis but we happened to have gone on a day where there was a birthday party. On one hand, you have little kids with balloon pirate swords running around (yes, there's a booth with man doing balloon animals for a few tokens). On the other hand, you have lemurs screaming from their cages. I can't imagine the stress all the animals must be feeling on a daily basis. While I get the whole hands-on, interactive experience aspect, I think this aquarium overdid it to a point where it's impacting the animals' habitats and stress levels. Every open tank was filthy. Even the facility itself is dirty. There's no signs anywhere to ask guests to wash their hands before touching the animals. In fact, there's no one even enforcing a two finger rule or educating visitors on all the animals that people could touch. I was flabbergasted when I saw a child ran to a small open tank, shoved his whole arm in and tried to grab the poor little fish swimming around. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if animals have gone missing from this place. The tegu exhibit was fully out in the open. Even a small child can easily just step over the short glass wall and grab the lizard. I think what shocked me the most was the lack of staff monitoring visitors' behaviors and enforcing the rules on how to handle animals. When I went by the shark tank, I witnessed a lady grab a shark by its tail and attempted to bring it out of the tank. My jaw literally hit the ground when I saw that. Thankfully the shark slapped her in the face with its tail and swam off. When I looked around, I saw an employee by the tank but she didn't say anything and was more focused on passing around these balls of fish bait to the same family that lady was with. I honestly left that "aquarium" angry and feeling incredibly sad for the animals. I would never go back nor would I ever bring my family back here. I've been to aquariums and zoos in developing countries where the animals were better cared for than this place.

My daughter recently received a betta fish for her birthday, and I wanted to upgrade her tank with driftwood and plants. Since I'm new to this, I was looking forward to asking the "experts" a few questions. Unfortunately, that excitement disappeared the moment I walked in. As soon as I entered, the older gentleman behind the counter looked directly at me and then immediately turned away without saying a word. He wasn't helping anyone at the time. I walked around the store for a while and noticed a young woman cleaning items nearby. Not once did she greet me or ask if I needed help. When I was looking at the driftwood display, she walked by, so I asked a question. She gave me what felt like a dirty look, gave a very quick answer, and walked away. I initially thought maybe she was busy helping other customers, but that didn't seem to be the case. What made the experience worse was what happened next. While I was still browsing near the entrance, several other customers walked in. Every single one of them was greeted by the gentleman behind the counter. I hate to even bring this up, but it left me wondering why my experience was so different. I'm a Hispanic male with tattoos, and every other customer who was greeted appeared to be white with no visible tattoos. I truly hope that wasn't the reason, but I honestly can't think of another explanation for the difference in treatment. Either way, it was disappointing. I had specifically chosen to visit a local specialty shop because I wanted the advice and expertise that comes with it. Instead, I left feeling unwelcome and will likely just go to a big box store instead--something I was hoping to avoid. I hope this isn't the normal experience for customers, but it was certainly mine today.

Check out Uncommon Objects (interesting antique store) next door.

Overall it was a cute experience for the kids. They enjoyed it, especially seeing the stingrays and the small sharks up close. There was a nice variety of fish and sea life to look at, and enough unique exhibits to keep things interesting as you walk through. One thing to note is that it can get quite pricey once you start buying food for all the animal feeding stations, which are purchased in very small portions at each station using pre purchased tokens. That adds up quickly. They also have a small arcade area and spots where you can grab quick food and snacks, but nothing impressive. The aquarium itself is on the smaller side for the price you pay for the visit, and you get through the whole thing fairly quickly. I didn't find the aquarium really engaging and exciting and the value wasn't worth it. For that reason, it is probably not a place I would return to on my own, but I would go back if my kids asked to. For that reason, I would give this place 3 stars because it felt like we got through everything so quickly, and the price of the tickets didn't feel worth the value.

More than half of what they have has nothing to do with an aquarium. I mean I love some baby goats but come on! The conditions they have these animals in is unacceptable and I do not know how they have not been closed down. I was sick to my stomach before I got half way through. A complete waste of $25. I was thirsty and didn't even want to buy anything there to give them any more support. I don't know how people can work there seeing this. I was at the sting ray pool and I swear if he could talk he'd ask to be saved. A worker walked by and thought it was cool to tell us he had 5 of his own at home. WHAT?! I finished walking through quickly to just get to the exit. The only thing I can think of is that this is a front for illegal activity. After leaving and doing a quick google search, they have had several lawsuits that they have not taken accountability for. These owners are disgraceful. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! Is it worth the drive?...HELL NO!

My advisor, who had never had an aquaponics system, but had lots of "book knowledge" told me it would be too hard to do the bell siphons. I decided that having beds with bell siphons would not only be less expensive, energy wise, but also less chance of a mechanical breakdown from the timer or "revolver". Then I met Mo, who actually has an aquaponics setup himself. Mo offered to help me set up the first bell siphon on one of my beds. Being a hands-on person, I thanked Mo, but decided I didn't need any help and set about installing it myself. After much frustration, I could not get my first bell siphon to work. I built it according to instructions I acquired online and In theory it should have worked. I called Mo at that point and within minutes after Mo & Cole came to look at my setup, they saw the problem and solved it quickly. Mo has checked in several times since then to make sure everything is functioning correctly and offer advice if needed. I would definitely recommend Pure Aquaponics to anyone - novice or veteran. They are a hands on company that knows their business. They turned what was a very frustrating problem into a breeze. Thank you, Mo!

The aquarium has a wide variety sea animals such as sharks, sting rays, seahorses, jellyfish and many more! They have these pretty cool tunnels where you feel like you are walking under water. The place is very educational and there are multiple screens where you can interact and learn more about each species. They also have a section where you can touch a sea start and anemona. At the end of the visit they have an indoor playground where the kiddos can play and run off all that energy before heading to your next stop. If you are local and plan to come more than once throughout the year, I would recommend checking out their annual passes. The one-day tickets are kinda pricey, but they are targeted to tourists which makes sense. Overall, I think is an awesome place to take your kids and stay cool during our hot summer months.
