The only reason we have 4 stars we because the service here could've been better. Me and my partner weren't greeted, we were left kind of confused and figured it out on our own. We finally asked for help and she explained it pretty well. Besides the okay service, the activity itself is actually so fun. I love the variety of beads they have and charms. There's gems, regular beads, all that you need. They all have different prices so watch for that. The prices around $16 each in US dollars. So it was actually pretty good for the fun you're having along with the cute bracelet you can make!

I always score impressive pendants, findings, and sterling silver bails/findings at a great price. Great, friendly service too, at amazing prices, especially for Granville Island/Kitsilano. I was looking for blue fire/flame labradorite pendants, and I looked everywhere but couldn't find anything remotely suitable under $100. Upon walking into Beadworks, there was a display of crystal pendants, and they had a few Labradorites for $22! I quickly grabbed one, when a staff showed me a nearby dish on a display with more similar pendants. I found a gorgeous square briolette labradorite pendant for $32! There are tons of gorgeous, handmade pieces in their front window, I asked and was surprised at their reasonable prices. I asked the staff about silver bails, requesting sterling silver, and then showed me a square bin of many, for $4 each. I left with 2 stunning pendants and a couple of bails for $50, half the price of 1 single pendant in nearby shops. Service was helpful and friendly, despite being VERY busy on a sunny Sunday Labour Day weekend. I've since bought a raw ruby pendant, more findings, so this is now my go-to for new pendants and supplies from now. I cannot recommend their selection, prices or service levels, highly enough!

However, many a time I have looked at the colorful displays of beads in the window while walking by or waiting for the bus, so while I have always been aware of Country Beads, I have never had a need to go there. Then a couple of years ago I purchased a pendant at a craft fair and could not find the right chain to go with it. I remembered Country Beads and I was able to find the type of chain I needed, and I was able to customize it to just the right length as well. They also attached the clasp for me, and it was a very reasonable price--just a couple of bucks, whereas a jewellery store would have charged at least $20. From then on, I decided that I would go to Country Beads for all my necklace needs. Last year I purchased a couple of necklaces. They were cheap (about $30 for both), but I loved them as they went very well with several of my outfits, and people always complimented me on them. So I was worried when they broke in a way that I, a non-crafty person, could not fix, then I thought of Country Beads, and was pleased to discover that they do repairs as well. The price of repairs is $20 an hour plus materials (the materials are not terribly expensive, though), and I figured that based on the type of repairs that needed to be done (which seemed very complicated to me), it would cost me more than the price of the necklaces. But I loved my necklaces so much that I was willing to pay whatever it took. So I was pleasantly surprised when the bill came to only $26--$15 for labour, and the rest for materials and tax. And my necklaces are as good as new. So whenever I need a chain or a repair, Country Beads will be my go-to place. Go to Country Beads for all your necklace needs!

Because when you are in throws of filling your ice cube tray with delicately beautiful pearls of glass and clay, it is very difficult to stop. In fact, you are likely to convince yourself to buy the strings of semi-precious stones behind the back counter and start your own jewelry making business--forgetting that you've never made anything for anyone beyond your mom and your best friend. Country Beads offers unbelievable beauty and variety in its beads. But just like saving change in a big jar, those beads add up very quickly. My advice? Head to the back of the store and look for pre-packaged collections of coordinating beads. You'll end up happier with the selection (since it's picked by a professional) and less poverty stricken.

I changed that recently, and planned a visit when I knew the shop would be open, and I could get inside and see some of offerings in-person. I finally met Nadia, my host for the 'event'. Her much-enjoyed, and appreciated very personal attention and service provided such a friendly, interesting, and rewarding introduction to my first time browsing and shopping there. She removed all items from the window displays that I pointed out as being so admired on my stop-by walks. And placed them on the service counter for me to really see, feel, and "experience". Yeah, I finally got to see them up close and personal, and 'wow', sure liked what I saw., and learned about them. I left pleased, and very happy I had finally been inside Rudolf's Crystal -- my stop and shop truly was a 'visit', and such a delightful experience. I purchased a lovely threesome of small gifts to bring home and enjoy.

There was an area right by the front door that had a deal where you could take a small bag and fill it with as many rocks as you like for $7. Ok...they didn't use the word rocks. It was called the Coastal Crystals Pebble Patch. So I suppose these were pebbles and not rocks. What is a pebble? A smooth stone...a rock fragment. So...related to rocks but I suppose the technical term pebble sounds more refined. But I digress! I'm not a rock person myself although I probably did appreciate them more back in my younger days. While I'm not a rock person, I do have to admit, there were some beautiful pebbles at this shop and I enjoyed rummaging through the pile of pebbles to help my daughter fill her bag. Some of the pile weren't even pebbles. Some of them were crystals. There was a sign that said "There are over 15 types of authentic crystals and minerals waiting to be found!" Stepping inside the store was fun too. They really do have some gorgeous crystals in this store. If you're someone who's into beautiful pebbles and crystals then I highly recommend this place!
