Great products. Terrible staff. I waited 15 minutes to get help. Not even a hello we'll be with you. Just blatantly ignored. It was not busy. Was not allowed to pay with cash. Cashier told me did I let the manager know I was paying with cash. Why am I supposed to inform a man I did not know was the manager that I'm using cash. Why should have to inform anyone period that I'm using cash besides the cashier? I don't know if the cashier was a child or not but they need new staff! I will never go back. Customer service was AWFUL!!!! The 3 employees were more interested in having a conversation than helping me and an additional customer in the store. I get customer service is not what it use to be, but blatantly not assisting a customer is UNACCEPTABLE. One of the employees was literally laying in the cashwrap chatting it up with the two other co-workers (I hope the store has camera's that the manager can review). I was ready to spend money and decided to go home and buy online and have all my items shipped to me (not from Capezio's). PS The other customer in the store drove over 2 hours to get to this store and asked me if this was the only store in the area. Thanks to Capezio for having a huge range of Capezio Fierce Dansneakers in stock for my 6 foot tall, size 10 shoe size male friend to try on. Why Capezio doesn't make this amazing dance sneaker in men's sizes is beyond me?! He tried on Sizes 11, 11.5, and 12 before fitting into a Size 13 women's Fierce Dansneaker. It was a happy accident and a timesaver that he put on Size 13 before Size 12.5! My friend was skeptical about wearing dance sneakers given he is used to ballroom dance shoes, but he was set on taking me dancing that night and had forgotten to pack a pair of dance shoes. Our patient, lovely, and creatively helpful sales representative Julia tried to think of ways to help us save money, and she helped me convince him to give dance sneakers to try. It was funny watching him try to moonwalk in the store to test out the shoes. Given we were doing impulsive, last-minute shopping, I was excited and appreciative to discover a 15% Yelp check-in discount. This Capezio location also has some dance shoes and dance gear on clearance, so you could luck out. We had a great time dancing West Coast Swing that night. He felt light and liberated on his feet with the comfy dance sneakers. We learned and taught each other different footwork patterns, and of course, the silly man practiced the moonwalk while leading me! I visited this store on monday to purchase a new outfit to wear to a new ballet class I'm taking. Upon coming home, I realized it was the wrong size so the very next day I came back to do a quick exchange. I knew exactly what I needed, so I grabbed it. I had my receipt, and the tag still attached as I never tried the garment on. The young girl with super short brunette hair needed help so she asks who I presume to be the manager. Long red hair with bangs. They disappear to the back for an awkward 10 minutes. The red hair gal comes to the register, and while showing her colleague how to do the exchange, tells me she will be doing my exchange for me. However she doesn't just do my exchange. She proceeds to accuse me of my garments smelling of "weed" and that she now has to "damage it out because I can't sell this". Immediately you could see the immense confusion on my face, and she whispers "I get it." Um, get what? I don't smoke! But clearly she does? Was the "weed" she was smelling.... herself??? However I didn't say anything because I just wanted to be sure she would take my exchange because for a long while it seemed as if they didn't want to accept my exchange, although I was just there the day before and had tags and receipt. AND a customer profile! What I don't understand, is if the garment is "unsellable" then I get it. However, you just told me you will be doing my exchange for me. So why do I need to know that you'll be "damaging the item out" and shaming me and making me feel awful? Do you guys smell all your clothes that come back and say "your garment smells like your house so i can't sell this but i'll go ahead and exchange it." Just awful customer service. I felt so uncomfortable. I came here twice to get myself something nice for this new class i'm excited about. But they made me feel like a criminal. Shame on both the sales ladies I encountered. Hm. I have been going to this store since my daughter was a little dancer. Recently took my granddaughter to get her first of ballet attire and was absolutely startled by the state of this establishment! Couldn't try anything on in the fitting rooms because they were "closed".... I could smell an odor that could knock the devil out from that dank back room. Was told we were "allowed" to try things on.... but only unless we CHANGED behind a SHELF! I was incredibly horrified by the state of the place. Asked to speak with the manager but couldn't because she was "unavailable." Lord knows she was hiding in the back room doing God knows what... certainly not fixing the carpet. Main reason they're getting more than just one star is because of the memories I have of the fantastic service in the PAST and the sweet lady working there who was obviously doing all the work. She takes her time with her customers and ensures that they leave with a perfect shoe. I have been going to this location and purchasing my every dance need there for over three years. I have never had a poor experience. If someone has had a negative experience at Capezio, give it another chance. I could not believe the reviews I read. We drove up from the East Bay today, Labor Day, as we had time and my 2 girls are team dancers and needed new ballet slippers. The sales person was very helpful and let me know if the BOGO sale for shoes. I was happy to hear it and asked what the price was of the shoes they were trying on. She told me $19.50. I was surprised as to the great deal. We bought a few more items and I was surprised that the ballet slippers rang up at $36 per pair and not eligible for the BOGO. I brought this up to a different sales person who explained that the price was $36 and not eligible for BOGO. She apologized and said that they had new staff that were recently hired and miscommunicated the price and sale information. I was pretty disappointed. Probably not worth the drive for future purch Updating review. Lowering to 1 star. The ballet slippers we purchase broke at the second wear. The Capezio store is a treasure trove for a dancer! I am loyal to their footed fishnet tights-they last incredibly long and come in a wide range of shades. The great thing about a physical shop is that you can try things on and get advice. There always seem to be a good number of employees out on the floor helping customers, which I appreciate. The store is well-stocked as well; if you don't see a size in the showroom they may have it in the back. Small dedicated parking lot in the back. As a Zumba addict (five times a week) I realized my decades old court shoes were doing my body no good. A few women in my classes had shoes that looked like they'd be perfect for dancing. They raved about their Capezio Dansneakers so a trip to Sacramento to meet with friends was an opportunity to stop at the Capezio shop. I expected to find only one or two styles but I was able to try on four or five styles. They had all styles in stock in my size except for one. I found a pair that were really comfortable for my feet and left a happy dancer. If you are considering buying Capezio shoes online, I recommend that you don't. Go to the Capezio store. The shop fitted the shoes to my feet and the size was very different than my normal shoe size. read more

First off, exterior is old but cute. The parking lot is small that's expected because of their location. We were the first ones to arrived. They opened right on time. We were greeted at the door and asked if we needed help. The girl who helped us made it so much easier to shop. My little girl was starting ballet for the first time and she needed everything. She's a tiny 4 yr old girl and we've tried other places before heading here but nothing fits her. The quality is amazing compared to what I have seen in department stores. First of all Capezio is in an awesome location with plenty of parking. Super cute and cozy! We came in looking for a leotard, skirt, tights and shoes for daughter's ballet class. She's almost 2.5 and super duper tiny so I was a bit worried nothing would fit her. All the ladies were very attentive and their customer service deserves 5+ stars! They have a hole punch to put extra holes in straps for shoes if needed. Offer both adults and kids items plus get discount for being a student! My first time at Capezio was so exciting. My 9-year old was talking about it the entire way home. We were there to get new Jazz shoes for her Mulan Jr. performance with the Solano Youth Theatre in Vacaville. We ended up getting their high quality leotards and dance shorts, as well as a few tights as they had a special. Gabe was very helpful with sizing her wide foot; he was pleasant to speak with overall with his vibrant personality and excitement for the theater! We will be returning for sure. The lack of the other stars was for the blatant disregard for human emotions that every girl but the redhead (very sweet, taller, long red hair, late teens or 20s) seemed to exhibit. I have never seen workers at a business make fun of people so openly. Not only did I witness 2 brunettes pointing and laughing at a larger women in the store, but after shooting them a dirty look, they proceeded at stare at me and whisper behind their hands and laugh directly at me. Rudest workers ever. Went to Capezio on 6/21/13 around 3:30 pm to buy my daughter new ballet shoes. The girl who helped me was a young brunette with long hair & glasses. She was abdolutely rude for no reason. Almost seemed like she wanted to make me mad. I asked for a certain ballet shoe & she asked me if I really needed them. She was so put out to have to get my shoes. And the whole time she had a rude tone with me and my 9 year old daughter. Then I hear from other dance moms that they've also had rude staff at Capezio too. They need to get it together. We need another dance store in Sacramento because they dont deserve my $. read more

Finally had a reason to shop here after window shopping for years. I needed dance tights for a Halloween costume and a tiny pink leotard & tutu for my daughter's first ballet class. Heard this was THE spot. Very clean and organized. I've never seen so many fancy tiny pink clothes in one place. The man that helped me was patient with my inability to explain in polite terms what type of tights I needed. Choosing the leotard and tutu was fun, there were so many to pick from. Prices were higher than I thought they'd be but I found what I needed quickly and left successful. Looking forward to returning for ballet slippers soon. After an evening of dancing in high heels that trashed my feet for a few days, I went here to find real salsa-dancing shoes that would let me continue pain free and wasn't disappointed. I'd heard Capezio's has a prima donna dancer-type attitude problem but didn't find it. It was just a crazy busy store on a Saturday morning filled with moppets getting their first ballet or tap dance togs, a serious ballerina-type teen trying on silk pink toe shoes at a barre with her proud dad looking on and adults like me looking to get into ballroom dancing. The sales staff is harried but professional. I was quickly helped and shown a variety of ballroom shoes, told the merits of each, and given two sizes in two styles to try. My fit was checked at my request, and soon I was all set with comfy but well-designed black leather heels for a reasonable price. The sales lady gave me advice on returns - there are none although you can exchange sizes, so try on your shoes on carpet in the house to make sure they fit before going dancing. They had an impressive array of ballet slppers and shoes, lots of tap shoes, and a good selection of ballroom dancing shoes for men and women, as well as racks of leotards, tu-tus and glittery performance wear. A counter full of beaded and sparkling head ornaments and the like had one little girl glued to the glass. Capezio's is definitely the place to release your inner dancer. read more

Good prices, and everything was pretty easy to find. Went here because my girlfriend just started taking ballet and needed shoes. The place is a little hard to find in Mid-Town (mostly because it just looks like another house). The parking is very limited, and requires you to double park other people. We walked in and were helped out immediately. She was promptly fitted for her shoes, but by the owner. I understand what people say about the owner though; she gave off a very "stern grandmother" vibe to us. Her opinions aren't opinions -- they're facts. I read the bad Yelp reviews, and let me preface by saying I am 1-not new to ballet or dance 2-not a sensitive person, 3-accustomed to the "mean" ballet teacher. Anyway, I decided to check out the store last night, thinking I would "look only" and buy if the customer service was decent. Here's what I found...while the staff is very friendly (I spent $100 last night), the owner is actually MORE awful than the reviews mentioned. If you are a dancer, you know how important fit is in a ballet slipper...it needs to fit like a glove but not cramp any of your toes. At the store I tried on 1 shoe. When I got home I discovered the "matching" pair was an entire 1" VISIBLY smaller than the other. I switched feet (ballet shoes are interchangeable) and naturally, it was not correct on the other foot either. Not even 24 hours after my purchase I went in to the store, for what I thought would be a painless exchange. The shoes were obviously unworn and I wanted to go with the same shoe that was not defective. I lined up the shoes and made sure every seam was parallel to show the defect. The owner approached the counter, and attempted herself INCORRECTLY, and lied to my face that they were identical, although there was still an obvious inch of difference even by her own efforts. She began to accuse me of lying that my feet were the same size which she said is rare. I told her I've never had a problem, and my feet are exactly the same size. (I've never had a problem with any other dance shoe, or any shoe for that matter) She said it was "IMPOSSIBLE!!" Then walked away furiously and said "FINE EXCHANGE THEM THEN!" I said, "well, I did want an exchange but I guess I'll just return them..." Funny how the owner prefers to lose business rather than exchange an unworn item for the same exact thing! Isn't that ridiculous? I almost feel sorry for her, but this degree of misanthropy is inexcusable! If you do decide to shop here, BE CAREFUL- I bought their most expensive shoe, and just imagine how much that would suck to be stuck with an expensive defective product, just because the owner is a bully. I regretted all of the money I spent on my other higher-priced items...I mean, as nice as the sales girls were, they gave a lot of incorrect advice on sizing and shoe performance. I have some things now that aren't fitting quite as neatly as they should for ballet. Do yourself a favor and read the 2nd page of Yelp reviews before you think it might be "okay" to shop here...in fact read them for a good laugh! Also the leotards and shoes are WAY overpriced and the selection isn't great either. It all adds up. Drive farther away for better customer service, no bridge troll, and better prices. The extra money will buy you a free leotard. I called and Capital Costumes in Fair Oaks has my shoes for $10 less. read more

I was in today to have my daughter fitted for point shoes. Not only did we get the usual patience and attention to detail, the owner explained how I could do a minor home DIY repair on her current pair to extend their life. There was a great selection of items on a clearance rack & we purchased an extra leotard for $10. What a steal. One of the ladies walked us out to be sure we made it safely to our car because a strange man had been hanging around. Really, the service & selection here are outstanding.
