That said, I am writing this review right now because the last time we were in the store, we were helped by someone we'd never seen before: Aleigha was not only energetic, fun, sweet and helpful, but somehow she got my younger son through three shoe fittings (tap, jazz and ballet) in one sitting... I can barely get his attention long enough to pick out food for lunch. She juggled my older son's three shoe fittings at the same time, effortlessly. I'm not sure how she did it, but we left with everything we needed and in record time. She went above and beyond. Aleigha is a rockstar, and I hope we see her the next time we have cause to be at SF Dance Gear.

And when I asked for a size smaller, a bit harder, any minor adjustment, no problem they had it in stock. In the end I was indecisive not because I didn't like any of them but because I liked all three final contenders! Amazing deals too: elastics come with purchase of shoes not separate purchase, 6th pair (or maybe after 6) is a free one. If only I had come here for my very first pair, I'd be getting a free one now haha Staff were also kind and helpful. The week before I brought in my Gaynor's with sinking issues and told them all the different solutions I had tried that failed. They were knowledgeable and let me try a sole liner which up til now works. And since they were out of stock they let us have their sample free of charge! And this week when I was trying shoes they had some comments about how certain shoes fit, but weren't pushy at all about which one I should buy. You can tell immediately how busy she is -- working woman, mom, wife -- yet she gives you 100% focus during your fitting. Josephine comes from a generation of Pointe' Shoe Fitters; she is Grace's daughter from Dancer's Choice in Orange County. Josephine runs her own successful shop in Santa Ana and became the first, well-known Pointe Shoe Fitter, turned social media success celebrity! It's a whole family of pointe shoe fitters. You've probably seen her weekly YouTube videos on pointe shoe news -- she really knows her niche. Location: The Pointe Shoppe is in downtown San Francisco, 2-3 blocks from San Francisco Ballet. Easy walk. Parking is surprisingly simple with meters, and it's not in a crowded area. Fitting: Appointments with Josephine are 15 minutes for $80. Pro tip: Start with their monthly membership. You get a discount and custom-fit shoes shipped to your home monthly based on your needs. Experience: Josephine is exactly like she is on YouTube -- focused on you, the dancer. But come prepared. Know your issues: "my left foot sickles and feels tighter than my right." Bring old shoes and toe pads. Let her know what your teachers want for "the look." She's incredible, but she's not a mind reader and she isn't the one dancing in the shoes daily. Overall, you're in excellent hands. Highly recommend for any serious dancers.

Elseana was very friendly and welcoming when we first arrived. She took her time to examine the fit of different pointe shoes on my daughter's foot to make sure it was comfortable. She also took her time to explain how to maintain the pointe shoe, how to use the extra inserts/covers needed to protect her toes, when it would be time to replace them, etc. They also sell the sewing kit and straps for the pointe shoe. They also sell stockings and regular ballet shoes. Thanks Elseana for a wonderful experience for my daughter's first Pointe shoe fitting! Tip: Set aside extra time to find parking because it's only street parking available.

I was surprised to see the low rating for Dancer Dejour but like someone else said, it looks like all the negative reviews are for a previous owner which brought down its rating. I'm glad to talk about the new owner. She is available by text and when I needed pointe shoes ASAP (same day) when all other stores were sold out, she was there for me, thank God! My daughter chose 2 pairs of half soles-a canvas pair & a leather pair, as well as a bra with interchangeable clear or nude straps for her recital costumes. I was surprised when she told us the total. Our usual store has higher prices. Even though this store is further from home for us, my daughter & I decided this is our new dance store. It'a in a beautifui neighborhood, in a little strip mall with cute restaurants and a market. Madi has worked with multiple instructors and we appreciate each and every one of them. They each have unique way of working with the dancers and they are passionate about what they do. They are all incredibly talented including The competition teams. They offer summer and spring camps. They also offer weeks to tryout multiple styles of dance and get an opportunity to see what your kid likes! We have done Hip Hop and are currently in Acro Techniques and Musical Theatre. I was beyond frustrated & usually I'm very flexible when things happen. I emailed them letting them know what happened & still no reply. Unbelievable.
