This place had excellent food we were very satisfied with all the dishes we ordered. The food portion felt like a lunch sized portion and felt like it wasn't enough to fill us up for a dinner. The service was relatively quick considering it was a very busy night. The ambiance was nice but small and it gets pretty loud in there. The table we sat at was too dark, if it wasn't for the lit candle then it would've been too dark to read. I think they could step up the cleanliness of the tables a bit more and replace the sheet of printed paper used for a menu....they were pretty grubby and looked like they were well used for the day. I will go back again because the service and food was great. read more

We ate there last night for my husband's 60th birthday. The Server wasn't friendly. Some of us weren't finished our dinner before she was whisking our plates away. When asked to take the plate she hovered over my son to take his last bite. The bill came while one person was still eating. We had drinks, appetizers and entrees so I don't know why we were treated this way. It was a first. The food is good as always. I would suggest a greeting area. Even a sign. I was pretty excited to try this place, but I don't think we'll be back. We came here the first time for a date night, and unfortunately we were seated at a small table in front of the front door, sandwiched between two 8-person groups. The restaurant is small, with the kitchen open to the dining room, and brick walls on two sides. The sum of these factors is abysmal acoustics that had us shouting at each other across the table just to be heard. It's too bad, because the food was excellent, but the atmosphere was simply uncomfortable. (It didn't help that it also took 45 minutes for our food to arrive from the time we sat down - that's a lot of time to sit and ponder other restaurants we could have gone to instead.) read more

I was lucky enough to be in town last year on their opening night. It has been a year and I am back in town again and my first meal had to be back at Capers + Olives. I was not surprised to see that they were doing very well. I was lucky to be able to walk in and sit down but that was only because I was eating solo and I got there early. The tables quickly filled up and calls were constantly coming in for reservations...and this is their slow season. After receiving my menu, I was happy to see that many items have changed and shifted with the seasons. I started with the pear salad which was intriguing. At first glance, it looks like a delightful fresh pear salad, but then I took my first bite and I was confused. This wasn't the sweet pear flavored bite I thought it would be. There is more depth, more complexity to it. Take a few seconds. Chew it. Let your brain comprehend what is going on. Let the flavors meld together. The thyme and pine nuts are subtle. The fresh parmesan, at first, presents center stage and threatens to steal the show but then, subtly at first, the pear starts to sing its notes and you realize that the confusion has turned into curiosity and delight. The second course I asked for the servers' recommendation. After hearing her describe the Tagliatelle I had to try it. The chef personally walked out my pasta and actually remembered me from opening weekend last year. I was planning on taking a photo of the pasta but as the aroma gently caressed my senses, I was drawn in to take a bite and completely forgot about the world around me. Have you ever sat down to taste a meal and relax in the seat as you take your first bite and your shoulders drop, your head tilts sideways and you sigh at the realization that everything you have eaten to that point has just been a complete and utter disappointment? Well, that is exactly what happened. The pasta is made fresh in house and was so perfectly done that you almost forgot that it was even there. The Crème Fraiche sauce carried subtle highlights of chili. The hint of tarragon was so subtle that it makes you wonder what that note is playing on the back of your tongue. And the bright sweetness of the corn just sends it over the top. I was halfway done with the plate and I actually had do look up and make sure all of the noises I was making were actually in my head. The most amazing highlight I remember from last years meal was the sorbet. There was no chance I was leaving without having it again. This year I was too late for the strawberries but the blueberries, oh the blueberries. I do not know what sorcery they are performing to extract the actual soul, the very essence of the blueberry but they have done it again. It seriously took all of my strength to just sit there. With every bit, I wanted to look at the tables around me and share the absolute perfection that was in my bowl. I wanted to walk down the street and offer a spoonful to complete strangers. I don't even think I can truly describe how good it was you just need to try it for yourself. After the intoxication of the meal wore off, I looked at the table and realized I just had one of the best meals of the year and it was completely vegetarian. read more

Another great meal at Capers +Olives! Quality ingredients handled with great respect. Its hard to imagine this tiny kitchen putting out such interesting and delicious food. The Dungeness crab salad was loaded with fresh, buttery crab, sugar snap peas and radishes in a light, flavorful dressing that we kept dragging our bread through. The roasted broccoli with anchovy and harissa was tender with tiny bits of crispy. Both handmade pastas we tried were perfectly cooked - great textures and full flavored. The duck's seasoning was excellent and all the fat was rendered while remaining beautifully med-rare. We were surprised how good the salted caramel gelato was. I was so full, and yet scooped every last bit. Great service and a great meal. Can't wait to go back! read more

Snooty. My husband and I passed Capers in Everett and dropped in to see if they had a free table. I received an extremely ungracious response to my admission that we didn't have a reservation, and we were told we could only sit outside (side note: two tables inside did not have a "reserved" tent on them, although the rest did). It was very sunny out, and the host directed us to a patio umbrella that we had to relocate ourselves. We took the available table outside and after waiting over 15 minutes and receiving no acknowledgment whatsoever, finally decided to head out. read more

Took my girlfriend for a quick dinner treat food was fresh new and cooked and seasoned beautifully. It is a fun little charming spot. I ordered the scallops and a salad of sorts both great. I will return again I returned and my second experience was a super disappointment brought a friend for their scallops which they took off the menu so we tried to find other options the waitress walks over asks what we would like for drinks we asked for a simple drink vodka and cranberry she responded by telling us they have no cranberry juice second disappointment. But the topper of this whole experience was the waitress with no customer experience apparently, so instead of asking our order making suggestions for an alternative drink she immediately turns her back towards us and takes the order of the table next to us instead of asking our order and suggesting another alternative drink than walks away leaves us for ten minutes we walked out. Don't come here for customer service.? The staff needs some lessons on rudeness. read more

If you've been to Italy you may have experienced house made pasta, fresh ingredients and simple ingredients, this Capers + Olives. We finally visited and our only regret is we didn't come sooner. The house made focaccia is incredible. We loved the rigatoni bolognese and tagliatelle with asparagus, chive, creme fraiche and parmesan. We are looking forward to trying more items on the menu. Got a gift certificate for this place from my daughter but waited over a year to use it as we'd been travelling and very busy. Big mistake! We went last week, took a look at the menu and ordered. Bruschetta! Best ever. Focaccia bread? Best ever. Entrees? Near the best ever. Definitely going back as soon as possible, this will be on our regular list of places to visit going forward. I was really impressed by this hidden gem in downtown Everett. It's a smaller restaurant, so I imagine it fills up quickly. However, my husband and I arrived on a slow night and were quickly seated. The food was incredible. We had the dungeoness crab and bruschetta appetizers as well as a couple of the pasta options. Each dish was perfectly proportional, expertly seasoned and delicious. Even my less adventurous husband was able to marvel at the balance of orange zest in his Bolognese bianco. The service was spectacular, even when the restaurant started to fill up. The wait staff was always attentive and we never had to wait long in-between courses. We'll definitely be back again! read more

What a cute new find in Everett. The food was delish and the unique open kitchen was very fun. I enjoyed watching my food come together and when it was brought to the table is was piping hot (just the way it should be). Overall it was a little expensive for what you get for example $5 half loaf of bread with olive oil. Love celebrating birthdays and anniversaries or special date nights here. Make a reservation-- it's a small place and fills up quickly, don't expect to walk in. Love the burrata no matter the season. Waitstaff could loosen up a bit, one in particular always seems rushed. We've found the food to be fresh, creative, and a great seasonal menu. One time, every dish was way oversalted but that won't keep us from going back. It's one of the only upscale places in downtown Everett. read more

Having just moved to Washington I really wanted to find some great local food in Everett and this might be my favorite spot so far. While the main dinner entrees can get a little expensive (in the $30 range), the pasta and appetizers are very reasonable and filling, but most importantly taste delicious and are clearly of high quality. I tried the Burrata, which was pretty fantastic and was a lot more food than I was expecting, as well as the Rigatoni, which was great. For any visiting friends, I'd definitely take them here first and will absolutely be back. read more

This restaurant is almost always busy - make reservations if you want to eat here. I saw at least 4 groups of people turned away in an hour because all of the tables were full. The reason it's always full is because it's that good. Drinks: The liquor selection is limited, not by type but by brand, so you might have to substitute your favorite for another. I had the black Manhattan and it was good, not too sweet and just the right amount of zest. I also had a dirty martini and it was perfect except for the olives which were raw. Food: We shared the charred broccoli - it was excellent. The texture and flavor of the broccoli was incredible and the chili was perfect. The menu says it has anchovies but you can't taste them. For the main meal I had the bucatini and she had the rigatoni. The rigatoni was cooked perfectly and is probably the most ordered plate on the menu, but the sausage had way too much fennel. The fennel overpowered the entire plate. The bucatini was good and the egg yolk added just the right amount of flavor. It was a very balanced dish, very subtle. I would definitely order it again. Service: Not so good. There are three waitresses who are nice, but not always the most attentive, especially considering how small the restaurant is. They seem to get overwhelmed easily and forget small things like bringing water to the table. Atmosphere: If you're facing the kitchen you get dinner and a show because the cooks are right there in the room with you. If you're not, you get to watch people waiting to be seated at the door. The ventilation isn't very good either, so you end up smelling like a kitchen after the meal. It's one of the best restaurants in Everett and would be perfect for a date night or just a night out. I will go back to try more of the food because it all looks delicious. This place will not let you down. read more

I love this little gem in Everett so much I almost don't want to give it away. But all good things must be shared. We ordered everything on the menu and everything was cooked to perfection. All the dishes had their unique flavors. This place reminds me of the best Italian restaurant in Vancouver called Ask for Luigi's. It's cozy interior with an open kitchen is so inviting. They have amazing staff, attentive and knows the menu well. Great wine selection to pair with pasta and steak. My favorite was the tagliatelle and fresh scallop. The chef has an amazing culinary background. I can't wait to benefit from his creativity. This will definitely be our date night regular hang out. read more
