We had our first Girls Night Out dinner at Caper's tonight with 18 ladies who have never met each other before. We had a great time at Caper's. Jaron, our server did a great job! He was attentive, friendly, and did a great job taking 18 orders, all on separate checks. The food was great. 18 meals and not one complaint. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Incredibly, the next time I went to this restaurant- the bathrooms had been renovated! Much, much nicer than the previous experience and more worthy of the stars for this place! I was so impressed with the bathroom renovation that I thanked the manager. This time I had the Hawaiian Steak and of course it was simply amazing and cooked to perfection, but I have to say the Rum cake was my absolute favorite part of this meal. I'm so disappointed and surprised at the condition of Caper's this past weekend. As we drove up, I noticed how filthy the entrance door was and then it just got worse. The floor in the bar area was so sticky that our feet were sticking to it. You could also see a large area where someone had spilled something at some point and it was all dried up with a large stain. The floor looked like it hadn't been swept either for some time...dirt and crumbs. The doors holding the beers at the bar were dirty. Our food was not so great...undercooked fish and over cooked vegetables. Service was slow and the bills were wrong. I used to really like this place but something has changed for sure. This was my 1 st time eating here and WOW delicious. I have ate at there other restaurants and always enjoyed it. My wife and I ate here on Friday night and the atmosphere and vibe was great. We started with the calamari and like Fish Thyme it's amazing. We the split a wedge salad also very good. I had the tuna it was great the wife had fried shrimp also very good. We got the chocolate mousse dessert to go and we ate it for 2 days super rich but with ice cream and whipped cream to cut the richness was perfect. I wanted to take my mother to copelands for Mother's Day but we had a heart attack at the long wait and millions of people. We jumped back into or suv and headed over to are usual spot. My mom randomly decided to try something new and we headed across the parking lot to capers. The wait was not bad at all. Our waiter was extremely pleasant and helpful. We ordered the Calamari, seafood pasta, BBQ salmon salad (I know I have to fit in my jeans) and Dijon salmon over mashed sweet potatoes. The large tender strips of calamari was cooked were cooked to perfection; So much in fact that my father, who hates calamari, had to be shooed away because he was chowing down. All the dishes were rich in flavor, perfectly salted, and the fish was perfectly cooked! I devoured my salad and trust me it was amazing! Contrary to Yelp's information, Capers does not have a happy hour. The hostess told us they got rid of it after Covid. So we could see the bar was open for business but no happy hour "due to Covid"??? Wow, that must have been quite the happy hour special if it made people get coronavirus. read more

From start to finish our meal experience was amazing! Amy our server was personable and she never made us feel rushed. She explained the specials and offered her recommendations with confidence. My husband got a Guinness and I got a Tito's with soda and stuffed blue cheese olives to drink. We started with crab claws that melted in your mouth and the fried green tomatoes were perfect topped with creamy goat cheese. The appetizers were a good size so I opted for the capers house salad which ended up being huge. My husband got the caper crusted grouper with sweet potato mash (which is definitely the best sweet potato mash we have both ever had) he opted out of the veggies and got the kale side salad and it let me try a bite which again was amazing. Then we ended our meal with the strawberry shortcake desert (((A MUST WHEN EATING HERE))) and I got a cup of decaf coffee which was amazing because usually I only drink regular coffee but this decaf tasted exactly like regular. I won't miss the caffeine when trying to sleep tonight. (((HANDS DOWN THE BEST MEAL WE HAVE HAD IN LONG TIME))) We are capers for life now and we will definitely be trying their sister restaurant "Fish Thyme" which we have been to just for wine and the strawberry shortcake stack. Honestly, this is a difficult review to write. I have been a huge fan of this place over the years. However, the way this business is ran is definitely slipping. I was last there about three months ago. The food was excellent as I have grown accustomed to. However, the service was definitely lacking. Also, I could not help but notice that they seemed short staffed and the manager in charge or, perhaps the general manager simply "stood watch" at his perch just outside the kitchen. There were so many things he could've been doing to assist to offer better service to the customers as well as some relief to the servers. I noticed he had done the same thing during a previous visit. I even commented my observation to our server... And their response was "from your mouth to gods ears". They continued on and said it is amazing that you as a customer can even see what we experience when he is here. I ordered a wedge salad that was $13 and it was absolutely without a doubt 1/2 the size of your typical wedge salad at any restaurant for almost double the price. Also, now on three separate occasions I have tried to make reservations for a party of five people. The first attempt was two days before our planned dinner, the second attempt was four days before our planned dinner and this week it was five days before our planned dinner. Each time, I was told they were unable to accommodate a "large party" of 5 at 5 PM. Each time it was either no availability or after 8 pm. Simply said, there is a growing arrogance/aloofness to the core fundamentals that have made this restaurant as great as it has been over the years. Based on principle alone, I will not be attempting to frequent this business again... It should not be this hard to give them my business. I hope they turn it around because i'm confident this business (while it may look strong strong now), will fall into a stage of serious decline. read more

Fiancé and I debated just grabbing a Pub sub and a 6-pack for our late Sunday lunch, but decided to try a place we hadn't tried before, since we just moved to the area. I should have known I needed to manage my expectations when I called to ascertain whether they were still serving the brunch menu or serving off of the regular menu and the lady to took my call seemed eager to get me off the phone. I shrugged it off and figured they were just busy. When we arrived, we were seated almost immediately. A good sign, I believed. Our server came almost instantly to our table and asked about our drink order. Having just been seated, I let her know we would both start with waters but needed an opportunity to look over the drink menu. She gave us a few minutes to look it over, and we each ordered one of the champagne cocktails. I ordered the alchemy rose (which I did enjoy) and fiancé ordered the violette 75. We put in an appetizer. The appetizer came quickly and was a very generous portion of smoked salmon. Again, I would recommend the smoked salmon. I was surprised at the large portion. Our drinks, however, took much longer to arrive, and when they did come, they were more or less room temperature. Not ideal for sparkling beverages. Fiancé's was way too strong, so he could only have a few sips since he was going to be driving us home. We put in our entree order, and food came pretty quickly. I was pretty pleased with my entree, although my filet of grouper was smaller than expected. Fiancé had the steak burger and did not have great comments about it. Soggy, limp fries, under seasoned patty, more mess than it was worth. By this point, I had asked our server to refill my water twice, and she had made no moves to do so. After about 25 minutes of waiting for more water, I finally asked another server who happened to be walking by with a carafe if she could top me off. Our server never came to refill water and I was tired of asking. When she took our plates, she only took mine, then got distracted by another table and left my fiancés dirty plate in front of him. She never asked how our meals were, whether we needed anything, whether we wanted another beverage. Any time she would address us, it would be in passing and from across her shoulder. She would be walking away from us and ask over her shoulder whether we were good. We felt like we were the table at the very bottom of her priority list. I did not feel like a valued patron. I spent over $80 for a mediocre lunch and some of the worst service I've ever had. I had to finish my fiancé's too-strong beverage just to fill out the tip line. Long story short, I wish we'd saved our money and opted for the pub sub. I wish that they had told us it would be a 45 minute wait so we would have decided to try some place else. Silver lining? Glad we didn't save this visit for a special occasion. read more

Great place to have a business meeting. The atmosphere is nice with purple uplighting. The chef does a nice job with everything. I've been there about 10 times and will return. Bruschetta was superb. Grouper fingers were great. Oysters were good as well. Truly one of the best restaurants in town. Service and Food are impeccable. My husband had the burger and fries and wow, fries were hand cut and fabulous! Mom and I split the Parmesan encrusted chicken, sweet potato mash, and Brussels sprouts and everything was amazing. Also had the shrimp corn chowder and it was fabulous!! Well, hello Peach Bellini! Where have you been all my life? How can I give a proper review of Capers without first bringing up their amazing bellini's! The peach bellini has cured many bad days at the office and even sobered me up on the weekends! The bellini has chunks of fresh peaches on the bottom of a beautiful champagne flute and you are given your own "party" mini-bottle of champagne that you can add as much or as little as you want. But who are we kidding, I add it all! This is a curious little drink considering after your second...or third one, you can't tell you've been drinking until you stand up! It is so light and refreshing I can only hope they don't take it off their menu as the season changes. The ambience inside is surprising for a strip mall in the middle of the suburbs. It is tastefully chic with black and white toile chairs, crisp, white tablecloths and beautifully colorful oil paintings throughout. They play French music, which relaxes me (or was it my fourth bellini?) and the wait staff is always prompt and professional. There are several tables throughout the restaurant that have high back, comfy chairs that you almost sink in to as you sit-I love that! It makes me feel at home. I have been to Capers alone or with girlfriends and while everyone tries something new I tend to stick with their Cobb county salad, Capers own version of the Cobb salad. A generous bowl of fresh mixed greens, diced eggs, apple wood smoked bacon, sweet red onion, roma tomatoes, thick grated cheddar cheese and honey mustard dressing. Between the bellinis and the salad I never leave here hungry! I only wish they weren't closed on Mondays! I am generally only in the area on Mondays but it gives me an excuse to stop in during the week for a mid day peach bellini! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by my visit to Caper's. But I should have learned by now not to judge a book by its cover. Walking in with my team for a lunch meeting, I immediately found myself transported from a Kennesaw strip mall to an eclectic, modern-feeling restaurant, complete with white tablecloths and fancy cups. There's no preponderance of vegetarian options, but the Caper's Salad looked promising, what with the fried beets (beet chips), pumpkin seeds, cranberries, etc. And yes, it was a well-executed salad, accompanied by a tomato basil soup that was replete with chunks of tomato. For dessert, everyone split the fantastic toasted strawberry poundcake (see photo), which was well-received. I didn't partake, but it certainly looked lovely. I'll happily return to Caper's for lunch to yet again partake of the salad, and maybe indulge in a tiny bite of the strawberry poundcake. Who knows!? read more

Ok I am SOLD! I've been hearing about Capers for years and finally on yet another blessed birthday, I've had my experience and shall return! Capers reeks of a staunch atmosphere! Very professional and courteous! Our waitress was amazing, so is the environment all the way down to the restroom facilities!!! The menu and food presentation are wonderful. I could find absolutely nothing that wasn't on point and thats amazing:-) Shame on me for all that time and just stopping in. I took note to the crowd they draw too, folks seriously dig some Capers and so do I. I will now get your taste buds going with some pics from my bday celebration. The husband and wife that own Capers also now have a seafood restaurant in Acworth and I plan to get there alot sooner than the time it took me to venture here...what was I thinking? :-) Be sure to check out the mini lounge areas and bar. What has happened here? I didn't recognize a soul and nothing is as it was. The noise level has always been out of control but the smell that comes from the bar side cannot be ignored. The food here was really good! I had the Smoked Salmon Pasta and loved it! Our service was good also...however, we had an issue at the very end. Our server knew we had bought a cake and even bought us extra silverware and plates so that we could cut it. However, she neglected to not once tell us that we would be charged $10 for cutting the cake. I definitely understand the reasoning behind it, but she definitely could have let us know before bringing us the check and THEN mentioning it. My family decided to just eat it at home and the manager took it off the bill. But just a FYI - If you bring a cake you will be charged $10 to cut & eat it there, the same probably goes for cupcakes. Also, they do not offer a free dessert for birthdays. I was headed directly to Nashville after this dinner so that's why we wanted to eat the cake and sing Happy Birthday since I was going straight out of town afterwards.
