My wife and I came to Cape May for our vacation this year and one of the things she has always wanted to do was go whale watching. So she found a groupon deal and signed us up for a 3 hour dolphin and whale watch. Even though it was absurdly hot out we had an amazing time! You can't even feel the heat once you're moving out on the water. The ocean breeze is awesome. The ship was in great condition and we saw soooo many dolphins! The real event is where we saw a huge humpback whale. We kept goin to each side of the ship to see him. Then we went out to the bow and we got so lucky. The whale came right near the ship and surfaced. We saw a huge portion of his body. Was probably 10ft away! Such a great time. The staff is great and also YES YOU CAN USE CREDIT CARDS AT CONCESSION. They will happily take your reservation and your money for a boat trip, then after driving three hours and arriving on time you will be told that they are sold out for that time. Had a great time on the sunset tour! The captain was hilarious and engaging and the crew was readily available to lend a helping hand. Way too many people though. Could barely hear the captain on the intercom. This is such a fun experience. I've done this cruise a couple of times. Once in the summer and once in the fall. The staff is awesome and incredibly knowledgeable. In the fall, we didn't see any whales or dolphins, but had a wonderful time anyway! What we truly appreciated was that because we did not see any marine life, and they guaranteed that we would, they gave us a voucher with no expiration date so that we could reschedule at a later time. I took my son on the 2hour dolphin watch boat ride. We didn't have a reservation which was ok because there was only about 20 ppl on board. We saw tons on dolphin pods and activity! We also got lots of education on dolphins and Cape May's history! On the return trip home we even saw two American Bald Eagles! They also had a few crabs on board for the kiddies to see and touch! The entire experience was just great. We took our son out to celebrate his 14th birthday. Right from the parking lot, we were greeted by a crew member and guided to a parking space. Once through the ticket booth, (We had Groupon vouchers) the crew welcomed us aboard, seating was very versatile whether you prefer bow, port, starboard, or stern... indoor seating or the upper deck, there were many options. The captain guided us through main points of interest on the shore, about the history of the inlet, facts and tips about the dolphins and whales and he and the crew had a great sense of humor. She was very informative and told us of neat places to visit. The Captain was well spoken and very knowledgable. He was funny and kept things light... Took us out because he had spotted something he thought would interest us. We was a good amount of Dolphins but no whales... Which is ok, you can't really tell wild animals to come out to play. We have been on this adventure several times and we love it! We went out this past Thursday, November 1, and, unfortunately, the ocean was exceptionally rough. And although there is nothing anyone can do about Mother Nature, the captain certainly did a great job at trying to keep the ride as comfortable as possible. And even when my motion sickness got the best of me, (and a few other people), the first mate made sure to keep checking on all of us, bringing us ice, and making sure we were ok. Went on the 1pm whale and dolphin tour. Saw lots of dolphins which was nice. Mainly went to see whales. Did not see any. Captain advised the ocean was too rough to go out that far so we stayed in the bay. Chances of seeing whales was cut down due to this. Would have been nice to know before paying full price. Oh well. We decided to do the 1pm Dolphin and Whale watch tour. The weather was fantastic for it. We didn't see any whales but we saw over 100 dolphins including a few babies. A few put on a show for us by breaching the water and swimming right next to the boat! I noticed a few people on here complained about not seeing whales on the whale tour and feeling ripped off. You didn't get ripped off. You just don't understand whales. First of all, whales give birth in the warm waters in the south by the Caribbean and then as soon as the calves are old enough, they make the journey up the coast towards the cold waters of Canada. July and August are probably the best times for sightings but you're basically rolling the dice that a whale will be traveling by that part of the ocean at the part of the day that you decide to be there. Not to mention that whales only surface for a small amount of time. The rest of the time, they're underwater. The captain takes you along the beach to see the dolphins and then you travel far out into the ocean, to the sand bar. There were more dolphins feeding at the sand bar but no whales feeding unfortunately. The tour was fantastic although it's tough to hear the announcements from the front of the boat. My family had an awesome time and I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who visits Cape May. Even if you might not see whales, the extra cost is worth it just for the ride out to the sand bar. read more

My niece was visiting from Phoenix Arizona So I purchased the Groupon deal for half off A 2 hour dolphin cruise. When I called to make reservations for 9 AM on August 3, 2015 the gal was very accommodating. The boat left on time and the crew was very friendly. It was a very relaxing narrative cruise. We saw many pods of dolphins! Just as I was telling my niece we probably won't see any whales, the captain made an announcement that another ship sighted a whale in the area. The Captain took us to the site and we were able to see a humpback whale. It was our first time seeing a whale and it was a fabulous experience! I would definitely go again. Grand lighthouse cruise, awesome! Absolutely beautiful day on the water. We really got close to the shoal lighthouses, got some great pics. The captain told us all about each one, as well as some other info about the area. The entire crew was also very informative. They were also very friendly and a lot of fun. The buffet was very good, and the cake was so pretty. We had a wonderful day. We also saw lots of dolphins. The little gift shop has reasonable prices and some cute items and t-shirts. Pretty cool experience. Very informative during the boat ride explaining every creature we saw out on sea. It's 3 hours long workers on the boat are super nice and friendly. Bathrooms are clean. We only saw dolphins that day but they didn't rush to continue the ride we stopped and got a.good long look at them almost too long, but alas they can't control the ratio of dolphins to whales we saw lol. Saw minimal dolphins today. The price is fair for what you get. I would not recommend the dinner cruise. The food is not worth the price of 50 bucks. The ship was clean for the most part. We did the 10 am, 2 hour, dolphin watching tour. We loved it! We saw a large pod of dolphins which the boat stayed with for awhile to maximize viewing. They talked about lots of historical information as well as information on the wildlife. The boat was very large and comfortable. I do recommended the first level at the front of the boat for optimal viewing. They had a free continental breakfast which was pastries, coffee, and orange juice which were decent. I strongly recommend the tour. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was for the parking. They have you park in 4 single file rows of 6 or so cars right up next to each other. So you have to wait for people to leave in order to get your car out. So if people are looking around in the gift shop for awhile, you could have to sit there for awhile. read more

I just drove 2.5 hours to get here, reservations for 1, get here at 12:25, was told to wait in my car on the side of the road until they had parking and then 30 minutes later told I might as well leave because they are full. That's it. No come back later, no nothing. Awful. Luckily it was Groupon so I can get a refund. Do one or two of these every year but obviously never again with this business. Never again!! From the minute the boat pulled in the captain and crew were rude and nasty. I have been on many whale watch boats in Boston, Plymouth, and Waterford and I have never encountered anything like this. Not enough crew members, no naturalist and they clearly did not want to be bothered answering any questions guests had. People were getting sick and the crew were getting clearly mad at them. If they act this way maybe this profession is not for them..its part of the job. And at the end we were lectured on how much the captain spent to buy the marina and if people complained about the parking lot then maybe he should start charging to park!! Really??? Don't think I've ever been charged to park going on a watch. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would! I've been on this boat multiple times and have had a great time... Now it is under new ownership and ran by big Jeff and his wife and his son Jeff. 1st off, you make reservations.. so they know how many people to expect. You get a hot dog and a slice of cold pizza that they buy from the local pizza joint. Waited in line for food for the first 45 min. No hot dogs he says.. no older than 11-12 years old running the stand. Come back in 10 min. Ok.. got in another 30 min line.. we are out again. Stay right here. Ok! Another 20 min goes by and he hands me the hotdogs.. ICE COLD. I tell him, these are cold, he says oh, they just went in. Ok why would you serve me them then. Wasted half the trip in line. Then they say over the speaker, we are handing out little passport cards for all the kids.... guess what.... they ran out. For the price of that trip... we saw about 20 dolphins and for the rest, I was in line. Captain Jeff, was a pompous, arrogant and mean person. I will never give them another dime!!! So sorry too, I am not a person who complains... but this was awful! 0 stars!!!!! read more
