This rail trail is all paved. it's beautiful and kept up well. it's a great stroll to take with family

Amazing bike path but one star off for the several hairy road crossings. Love that it is long, has beautiful views and offers several places to utilize the facilities or grab a snack along the way. After your ride from Dennis to Wellfleet, make sure that you peddle your way an extra .6 miles to the beach. It is well worth it. We were hoping to grab a quick swim before lunch but the water was freeeeezing. We did get to see a bunch of seals swimming out in the ocean, which was really cool. CCRT is one of the main reasons I come to the Cape every year. You get a great 44 mile ride in, which you can easily expand if you want to ride on the street to the beaches. read more

Great trail! We rode the first 7 miles from the Dennis trail head. Lots of great scenery. My only complaint is that there are a lot of road crossing if you start at that point (one about every 1/4 mile). My son isn't so good at stopping yet - he has about a 30% chance of ending up on the ground and his bike has a 100% chance. So that was a bit of a pain in the a** (and a pain in the elbows for the little one). There is a beach that you can swim at about 5 miles along from Dennis. I'm going to come back in the summer! If you are looking for a ride near Boston, you might also want to check out the East Bay Bike Path from Colt State Park in Bristol RI. It has better scenery and the drive is a bit shorter. read more

Great rail trail. If you're starting from Dennis, you'll usually find it's a little crowded for the first two to five miles, but the further along you go, the more you get it to yourself. read more

I had visited the Cape Cod Rail Trail a few years back and when I first saw it and tried to rollerblade on it, it was simply the worst surface I had seen. This new improved rail trail is awesome, with a newly paved surface an maps along the way and even seating areas and mile markers. We started in Dennis and rollerbladed to Brewster past some of the most picturesque scenes of cranberry bogs and woods and lakes. Thereis a few hills but now much and it crosses through Harwich and into Brewster and goes as far as P-Town. The trail is wide and along the way there is small areas to sit and picnic and tables and even a general store and a few bike rental places. I would highly recommend you try this out since it is improved enough to come back several times and enjoy it! read more

One of the best Rail Trails in the Country. Connects Most of cape Cod and other conservation land trails as well. Also there is a Bike rotary that leads to the Old Colony Rail Trail in Cahtham - A great half day or day trip with the whole family. Good places to Eat and play along the trail. Stop off at Nickerson park for a bike loop around the Ober trail and Cedar trails. Bike shops around the area too Enjoy! Would be nice if they could connect the bike trail through Otis AFB/Edwards to the Canal Paths, using some of the trails and paths and/or with the Falmouth Bike path. And would be nice if they could extend it north to Provincetown somehow. read more

Simply a joy. Loads of ways to plan a day out along the CCRT. Accessibility to Welfleet Flea Market, Ben & Jerry's, Arnold's, Olreans Center and keeps you out of the much more unpleasant road traffic. read more

I have not ridden a bike in over 15 years. I pushed my self to ride a 12 mile round trip. My bum was sore, but well worth it. My lower legs killed too the next day. The trail is well maintained. In my six mile (one way) trip, I had only one uphill climb.....the same coming back. We took a dip in a pond, that was refreshing. The private beaches were so nice, but again private, but you see them as u ride the trail. I would definitely do it again. read more

This is a beautiful trail running from Dennis through Wellfleet, about 40 miles or so round trip. What a treasure and bicycling through with extended family was one of the highlights of the summer. I have avoided going to the Cape for a few years, preferring to head to other beautiful places in New England, however this trail will draw me back again and again. read more

went for a run on the CCRT. Started in Dennis at the parking area. Trail is very well maintained. love that along the way printed on the ground are the miles covered. Did not like the amount of intersection I got caught at to cross. But I am hoping that spaces out more the further down you go. It was hot out but a lot of the areas were shaded so it wasn't too bad. I barely saw anymore on the trail, but it is off season right now. A handful of bikers and walkers. that's it. this will definitely be my new place to run on the Cape this summer! right near my house which is awesome. read more

a nice free and fun thing to do while visiting cape cod. there are a number of bike rental places...wish i remember the one we picked, because it was pretty cheap and the bikes were good. but anyhow, pick one out and go here. a good compliment to the beaches read more

My wife and I rode the entire trail in one day! We're still walking funny! The Trail is a great way to get across the Cape and see many of the attractions. I advise mapping out a route and a few destinations ahead of time. The people on the trail are friendly and courteous. I'd love to do the ride again in the fall, as the colours would be beautiful! read more

There are a number of places traffic crosses this trail, but in fall and spring it's a very peaceful ride. I used to ride the Rail Trail all the time when I was a teenager. I'd often go end to end, starting in Dennis and stopping for a swim in Long Pond in Harwich/Brewster before continuing on. On a really good day I'd go even further. It's another 24 miles on roads to get out to Provincetown, but the scenery out there is gorgeous. The bike trail out there is called Province Lands, and it winds its way through the dunes to Race Point at the tip of the Cape. read more

Excellent time! The rotary is for the bikes, just to clarify. It's two or 3 miles from Dennisport and it's a great little rest stop. My has husband and I are not bikers but we found that the old historic trail was completely doable for a half-day trip. It's not quite as scenic as I thought it was but it's a great way to spend the day for little to no money.I especially like the wind markers indicating how far the next town was. We went as far is downtown Chadham and had a lovely lunch and in the cute cobblestone center. We biked about 29 miles in total. I would recommend stopping in Harwich if that seems too daunting. The bike rentals were about 20 bucks each for the day. read more

Great trail... it is best to start / end at the Wellfleet trail head where you will find nice stores and food places for rest and recovery.

Rode this for the first time Saturday , excellent and will definitely be doing again, nice easy relatively flat ride, I did not look at the map before hand and was a bit surprised when I came to a split, I took the chatam route which is approx 18m round trip, when I looped back I decided I did not drive there to ride only 18m so I went the wellfleet Rt also, I rode to the 22m marker and turned around, ended the day doing 60m is 4hrs. read more

We rode the entire CCRT today, and it was great. The trail is paved the entire way, and well marked, making a smooth and easy ride with little confusion. Everyone was very polite and pleasant along the trail - it was not stressful for someone who doesn't bike very often. A great way to see cape cod - there are bogs, salt marshes, lakes and woods along the trail. An extra 0.6 miles takes you to a beach at the end (we road from Dennis to Wellfleet). The extra mile is worth it to see the beach. There are also many places to stop and rest along the way, with food and drinks available, even though it is now off season. Highly recommended trip to the cape! read more

Great way to spend a day on the cape! We do it every year for as long as I can remember. I prefer too bike it because its much more efficient.. Plus it connects you to the lower cape and makes it easy to go all the way up to well fleet! read more

It's been my goal to ride the CCRT from end to end, and I did it yesterday. Started at Rte. 134 in Dennis and headed out. Like everyone says, it's pretty picturesque, with everything from the back of houses to cranberry bogs and businesses. It's a little irritating to have to slow down or stop at so many road crossings, but it's well worth it to have a dedicated path like this. It was fairly clearly marked, although there was a bit of confusion. When I got to the rotary I started heading to Harwich, realized my mistake and backtracked to the Wellfleet trail. You'll also find one spot where you have to go through a neighborhood and cross a main road to get back to the trail. I was also very confused when I got to the end. I was expecting the trail to take me directly to some kind of landmark in Wellfleet, but the trail ended abruptly. I saw a sign that said "Beaches" and followed it along a road to a beach. I wasn't expecting the trail to end like that. At any rate, it was a tough ride for me. The farthest I've ever biked was about 35 miles. This was 47 miles (counting my brief detour to Harwich), certainly not the 56-mile round trip that I was expecting. It was tiring and I struggled but I didn't get passed once. I'm a road biker and most of the "patrons" were comfort-bikers and walkers. Nice atmosphere. You'll love it, as did I. read more

This tour train ride is a must do if visiting in Hyannis or close by. Get the bubble coach to enjoy the 360 views and if need to, order the box lunch, very good sandwich with chips, cookie, and water. The narrator gave a very informative presentation!! read more

This is one of the greatest bike paths I have ever ridden. I ride it with my mom all the time. In fact today we rode on the Chatham extension of the rail trail today. Normally we ride up to Brewster and grab some lunch at a mexican place. I'd suggest this to anyone who loves to bike. read more
