The 1st Annual Beer Festival at the Cape Cod Melody Tent was not worth the money. While there was not an overwhelming amount of people at the Sunday festival (August 10, 2014), the lines to get the samples were stagnant and wait times were over 15 minutes. The beer vendors were cramped under two separate tents which forced long lines. Initially there was no option to purchase beer, but then someone made a good decision and opened up a concession stand at least an hour or more after the start time. The music was awkward because everyone was outside waiting in lines and the music was not piped outside of the tent - it was muffled. If you were inside the tent, the music was great - Adam Ezra and Entrain, but I felt badly for the artists because most everyone was outside of the tent, so they were playing to a scattering amount of people. The set-up of the tent, does not lend itself for a dance floor, so hard for people to get into dancing. Normally a concert at the tent is great because there really is no bad seat and the stage rotates. I went to a Chowder Festival there one year and it didn't have these problems, but the beer festival was a bust. read more

I have been a Gold Circle member at the Tent for 28 years and have seen some awesome shows. The Kinks, Alabama, Guess Who, Joe Cocker and many more. But that was then, mediocrity is now. Hell bent on reinventing themselves as the Grand Old Opry of the north there is a constant stream of "country" artists, with minimal "rock balance" in their events lineup. And then there is the price of beer. 9$ for a 12 ounce beer? Has it been fermented in oak barrels for 20 years or something? Go across the street at the hotel or visit the Paddock before the show to get your game face on. The tent employees are generally great, with only a smattering of less than helpful people. All in all a great place to see a show. Here's hoping there actually be shows worth seeing in 2015. read more

It's 9:15. The headliner started at 9. I went to get a beer and it's already closed. And the bathrooms are disgusting and the lines take forever to get a drink before the show. This place sucks. read more

I went to see Blondie perform their album "Parallel Lines" in its entirety here, it was one of the first times I had any interest in a Melody tent show. Blondie was pretty awesome, and the crowd was just as entertaining. The audience was made up of mostly 50 somethings who don't get out much and really had no idea what "Parrallel Lines" was nor did they care. They danced frenetically however, to "Heart of Glass" and "Call Me". There were definitely a lot of eye-popping fashion "dont's". One pretty sober looking man in business casual poured a beer over his own head about one third of the way through the concert. I spent about 2/3 of the night rolling my eyes. We went to see the Happy Together Show. It was great. What was better was that although seating was not for another half hour they allowed a handicap relative in early as he was exhausted and could not walk anymore. This was totally against company policy and I am thankful. read more

This is a great summer venue. There isn't a bad seat in the house, and the show rotates, so you get to see all angles. I saw Vince Gill the other night and it was great. Lighting and sound were terrific. It was in the 70s, so not too hot. Staff are great. Worth the trip! read more

Really interesting venue! The stage rotates, but not 360 degrees. Rather, it goes back and forth through roughly 260 degrees. So if you're lucky, like me, the band will rotate back and forth facing the other side of the venue, and you'll get a whole night of an unobstructed view of the back of the band's amplifiers! Best part - your ticket costs the same as the seats where you can actually see the band! read more

We went to see Lisa Lampanelli at the Cape Cod Melody Tent. The Melody Tent is a fabulous venue because there isn't a bad seat in the house. They need to work on the sound system though because it was very muffled when she talked through the mike. Great outdoor area to go to during intermission but bring alot of money if you intend to drink alcohol there. It was $7.75 for a beer! read more

The venue is nice and there is not a bad seat in the house. The venue however arbitrarily closes the beer and wine sales with no rhyme or reason. Example Saturday July 7th went to Lee Brice. Walked into venue at 8:50 PM and went to our seats. Lee Brice came on at 9PM. I watched two songs and went to get a beer and wine for my girlfriend and I. Security was stopping anyone from entering the Concession Lines. I explained to security that I just entered the venue and would like the opportunity to enjoy a beer at the show. He said no lines are closed. I asked him what the policy was and he said they decide based on the show. Usually an hour before the end of the show. Show just started?? I sought out the manager and explained to two of them that I had just entered the venue saw two songs and decided to purchase a beverage. They could have cared less. I am almost 60 years old very responsible and these managers would not budge from their position. The show ended at 10:40 PM. Crazy way to do business makes for a lousy customer experience. I now understand why almost every person I saw as I walked in was carrying 2 beers each. Back at my seat during the show I observed people with beers lined up under their seats etc. Next time I'll plan ahead too! Wish there was another Cape Venue for these shows. read more

Great place!! Ive been there twice now last year to see Ron White and last night to see Boyz II Men. It's such a small and just a great place to watch a show. Not a bad seat any where! It does get hot so dress accordingly but if it's a good act you forget very quickly about that. They have beer and wine which ran me about 15 bucks for a glass of wine and a beer. Over all can't wait to go back! read more

Been going here for over 20 years I cannot in good faith and give the Melody Tent a 5-star review and this is why... yes they bring in top talent which is wonderful of all different genres but the problem lies in the management.. they will continue to serve alcohol to drunks who ruin the experience for everyone around them. it has for me and my wife multiple times, we will never ever go to the Melody Tent again because of this and a few other things. They have all kinds of security people in the area but all they do is stand outside the tent and chat. I have never seen them ever remove a patron for being disorderly, they will go chat with them but then they continue on their bad behavior and they don't come back and remove them. It's really too bad because everything else about the stage and the talent is great if they got a new management team in there they can really make it a 5 star place. Last night was my first time at this venue to see Sebastian Maniscalco and all I can say is - don't go if its a hot steamy humid night - I get no air conditioning but come on, at least put a fan in there to circulate the dead air. I especially felt really really badly for Sebastian who at the very least should have been provided with a fan onstage - he was pouring sweat the entire night, (while we were using our programs to fan ourselves), which by the way didn't stop him; he took it like a trooper and with great humor. I'd be surprised if he came back, I won't be at least not in the summer. Considering what I paid, that venue needs a serious upgrade. read more

This is a pretty solid place to see a concert. I've been twice, once getting dragged to Steven Wright and the other time to see Casey Desmond and the B-52's. There is no bad seat in the house; everyone is pretty close to the stage. I'm pretty sure the stage rotated during the B-52's concert; I hope memory's serving me correctly there. Tickets tend to be decently priced for a concert in this day and age. Combined with the relative ease of getting to and from the venue, this place makes for a fun night out! read more

Not much to review. Melody Tent Hyannis is usually sold out well in advance. Cape Cod attracts the best talent, they get a working vacation in a wonderful place. Residents and tourists reap the benefit. read more

Went to see Ziggy Marley on June 30 th 2012 He was awesome the venue sucks with its stupid revolving stage . It was the workers screaming at people for smoking cigs outside the tent they shut beer stand off at 9:00 such nazi's . Its typical cape cod attitude they want your money but they don't want actually work for it I have not been to the cape in 20 years and it will be another 20 before I go back . read more

went to see the Mavericks who we have seen twice before at other venues. The sound was terrible I don't know what the issue was but they have always sounded great in the past so maybe it was the tent. The show was closed down after only less than an hour and half of watching them due to a storm, very disappointing. We traveled about five hours to see them with friends. The tent was great as far as being close but I didn't like the rotation of the stage I felt like we were looking at the backside of the band a lot. I probably would not go there again. read more

Saw Brian Regan there - he gets 5 stars. The 30 minute intermission after the opening act is a shameless ploy to sell more $8 beers, Park across the street in the commercial building lot, crossing guard was great. The seats are impossibly small for such a small venue. I'm 6'2 not 6'10, and my knees were crushed the whole night - thank God i was laughing the whole time. read more

Went to the Tent as a long time Cape resident and past sponsor of the Chowder festival only to be harassed by the sound board guy because I attempted to climb over the last row seating in order to avoid blocking the view of the patrons seated in the same aisle. Additionally I was accompanied to the Men's room by the Barnstable Police to make sure that I really needed to pee! While this was happening the rest of my party was being re-located throughout the venue because the sound guy was such a bonehead. When I returned I was informed that I was not allowed to re-take my seat and no-one could tell me where my wife was re-located to! All this angst for what? I had 2 beers and stopped. I wanted to enjoy the first night of summer but the neanderthal running the sound board became the HULK and not only physically abused me, but also intimidated my friends that had joined me ( which I paid for) for this event. My complaint to the Tent Staff went in one ear and out the next. I will never ever attend another event at the tent. I suggest that you do the same. I have lived on the Cape for 42 years and this type of treatment is incomprehensible to me, especially since my company had sponsored the Chowder festival for 10 of those years and I am a service provider to the Melody tent. Not anymore! And just as a secondary issue, the REO Speedwagon show was terrible! We had to endure a 40 minute delay to the opening set and then we had to listen to a 5 minute monologue about Vietnam which I am sure no one in the group had ever had any experience with! I tried to have fun, but they wouldn't let me. I suggest that you carefully examine what you are about to venture in to before you do so! This experience was a big bust for me and I will never be back again. I hope you hear me Tony. What happened tonight was garbage! read more

My husband and I have attended many concerts at the Melody Tent and have enjoyed ourselves immensely. The Beach Boys concert we attended last evening was an exception. The Beach Boys were terrific. The young people sitting behind were not. Their behavior ruined the concert for us. They seemed to be inebriated. They spilled their beer on us, swore, yelled incredibly loudly, "...just because they could," said very inappropriate things, and so on. They didn't respond to any requests to tone things down. The mother and daughter sitting next to us were visiting the Tent for the first time, and they left. We spoke to a person in charge of our row before intermission. She did offer us seats at the back of the venue. However we paid for better seats than that, and we were with invited guests. After they brought several more beers to the seats, some of which we wore, their behavior, not surprisingly, worsened. They lit lighters and jumped over the seats to actually be in our row. We asked them to settled down a bit, and then they became verbally abusive. We left our seats, and spoke to management. He said many things which added up to you can sit at the back of the venue. He didn't want to move them, "...with only four sets left." We stepped away because the conversation was a waste of time, and we wanted to try to enjoy the rest of the concert. Several points come to mind. With people that were seemingly inebriated, why were they still being served? Why would management allow them to remain in their seats when this type behavior on the sidewalks of downtown Hyannis would be against the law? Why would well behaved patrons be relinquished to the back, when badly behaved patrons be allowed to stay in the better seats? Why were we expected to be happy about being punished for their bad behavior? By allowing this outrageous behavior, what are we teaching our children? As residents of the Cape, it saddens us to say that we won't be attending any more concerts there unless management uses a different approach to dealing with such bad behavior. We were embarrassed to have our guests see this. We had spoken so highly of this venue. Dealing effectively with bad behavior is part of good management. I guess that's where the buck stops. read more

I took my three young children to see the play Alice in Wonderland at the Melody Tent last Wednesday. The entire experience was so disappointing that I will never go there again. We drove into the parking lot and were directed as far away as possible. We asked the parking attendants which way to walk to the entrance and they told us and that turned out to be wrong. So my three kids and my mom and my sister and I traipse all around the tent and finally find the will call desk. The attendant there was unfriendly. We didn't know we could not bring in snacks to a children's performance so the bags of popcorn in my bag were confiscated and put in holding until the play ended. We went to an usher to try to find our seats. She sent us to the nest section and then we were directed three more times to different sections. The tent was barely half full and when we finally sat down several of the seats were obstructed view and we were all the way to the left of the stage so my kids could not really see. There were plenty of open seats that had a better view. The venue was extremely hot. The first person to come on stage to greet us then made a pitch showing us the light up toys and dolls that could be purchased at intermission. The actress who played Alice was talented and easy to understand but the other characters were not wonderful and in addition the sound system, which was supposedly new, was terrible with squealing and squeaking every couple of minutes. after about fifteen minutes it was announced that it was time for intermission. My children were so hot and uncomfortable and could not hear the singing or the plot of the play that we decided to leave. That was our first and last Melody Tent experience. read more
