They showed up at 10:42 a.m., parking on our lawn even though we had cleared the driveway. Taping was incomplete--corners dangled off, smoke detectors, air conditioners, rugs, and our kitchen were all exposed. At 11:15 a.m., I saw John just three feet from our front door smoking meth. They returned inside and began sanding but dug too deeply into the dining room floors. My husband and I had asked during both the estimate and Day 1 if the deep cracks from splintering would be filled. He assured us they would be. Throughout the day, they took several meth breaks accompanied by nips of Fireball. At 5:00 p.m., John claimed they'd vacuum and wipe down the entire house to leave it clean. False. Dust covered the kitchen, rugs, AC units, railing, walls, and even set off the smoke detectors. The next day, they arrived at 10:30 a.m. and resumed sanding--this time gouging the stairs and stair skirts. I voiced my concern. Again, he promised everything would be fixed "beautifully." More meth breaks followed. When discussing stain options, he first showed me "natural," then "dark"--neither matched the reference photo I gave him. Eventually we agreed on the right shade, assuring me we'd start light and layer if needed. I asked about sanding and staining the risers (part of the original estimate). He said it would take too long and I, worried he'd make things worse, reluctantly agreed. They stained while I was upstairs--two shades darker than requested. Worse, the stain ended up on my brand-new white carpet (installed four days earlier), white and green walls, white doors, trim, doorknobs, and even in gouges he'd filled with dark stain. We told them at 4:30 not to apply poly because we needed floor access to pick up our children. He agreed to return "early" the next day. Yet cracks remained completely unfilled. I cried. My once-beautiful 1990s floors were destroyed. I texted about the remaining cracks--no response. On Day 3, they showed up at 9:00 a.m. and started work. Just 30 minutes later, I saw John outside his van, scraping resin from a pipe with an Allen wrench and snorting it--again, just feet from my door. He completed the first layer of poly, then returned later with another bag of meth and a paper bag of Fireball nips. He was ready to go, told me I could let the dogs out, and I headed upstairs. Intimidated and physically small (I'm 4'11"), I paid him because I didn't feel safe confronting them. He applied the second coat while I remained locked upstairs. Before leaving, Nick, his employee, asked me to wait three hours before touching the floor, and begged me to leave an online review praising their work. They said to call if I needed anything. I cried again. The gouges remained. Streaks all over the floors. Stained completely unevenly. Dust and stain covered everything. My new carpet--ruined. My floors--ruined. I lost $3,700. I requested a partial refund via text. No reply. I emailed him to give him a chance--again, no reply. Eventually, I informed him that I had 10 videos of him using drugs, and he was going to served by an attorney and would be asked to also pay my legal fees. No reponse. I highly recommend Luxe Flooring - they are very knowledgeable and skilled craftsman, excellent communication with Max, and very reasonable cost. I'll go into a bit more detail here: My wife and I wanted to put new bamboo wood floor on our second floor to match the downstairs bamboo we already have. The project included a curved staircase that doubles back to a landing, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. Luxe was the second flooring company we got a quote with. After reaching out to the highest rated Yelp flooring company in our area we wanted to get a second opinion. Max was better in every way. During the initial estimate Max took much more time to go into detail about all the work he would be taking care of and asked us questions to help him come up with an appropriate and detailed quote of all the labor and materials required. The other company didn't ask many questions and once we spoke with Max from Luxe, we felt so much more relaxed feeling that we were going to be in good hands. To top things off, Max's estimate was a bit lower than the other and his quote really broke down the cost so we could see it all and it made sense. It was a no brainer for us to choose Luxe and we were able to get started just a week and a half later. Max was very responsive in the lead up to the project and we kept in touch via text/call to go over all the details as he ordered the materials. He made excellent recommendations for the vinyl flooring in the bathroom which is much better quality than the one that was originally in the bathroom. And the bamboo flooring was a very close match to the floors we already have downstairs. Max's team was incredibly hardworking. They showed up right on time every morning, took a short break for lunch, and cleaned up before they left each day. Our project took six days to complete which was seemed very reasonable for the difficulty of our house. Rob and his team were very flexible and thorough. Rob had my husband and I come to his showroom where we were offered a surprisingly large selection of flooring and tiling options, and worked with us to help us create a custom look that we wanted for our home. **side note: we finished construction on our addition/modification to existing home in early 2019, so we have had ample time to "break in" the floor and tile from every day use. I must say that the work done was very high quality, as we have not one negative thing to say about it! Everything is in wonderful shape, and we are still just as happy as we were when it was first installed!** TILE WORK: amazing. Rob and his tile installers were great--I told Rob that I wanted two niches in the shower, and he made it happen--no questions asked. There was an issue we had (on our end) with the studs in that shower wall, and he worked with the GC to create a solution where we were able to have our niches without having to compromise. The two tilers were friendly, fast and very efficient. You can tell they've been doing it for years. They did a wonderful job on our floor and shower, and we couldn't be happier. My in-laws had the same process as we had with Rob, and are very happy with their choices and work as well! LVF: This was one of the last projects we had RKM do, my husband wanted a flooring for his basement "man cave" so Rob guided us to luxury vinyl flooring. He knew what look we had in mind and matched us with a LVF which was not only cost friendly, but was exactly what we wanted for the space. His LVF installation guys were in and out in one morning--I couldn't believe how fast it was! It's been a year since the installation, and the floor is still perfect. WOOD FLOORING: My in-laws had to pick out flooring for their 2 story addition, and Rob was very helpful throughout. My MIL had a specific wider-planked style in mind (which had to be special ordered), and Rob did a great job searching and working with her to find the perfect finish. The floors are so beautiful in person! He even helped her find wooden flooring vents which perfectly matched the hardwoods! KITCHEN BACKSPLASH: My MIL wanted these oversized aqua tiles and ended up purchasing them on her own; and RKM's tilers installed. They did a wonderful job! We had standard white subway tile with dark gray grout installed in our kitchen. They did a wonderful job with that too!! REFINISHING HARDWOODS: we had RKM come in to refinish our dated orange-ish oak floors to a more neutral brown tone in our family room. We scheduled it to be done while we were away for vacation, but they were done in (I believe) 3 days from start to finish. The flooring looks great, and we removed the baseboards beforehand to make it easier for them. We have tilework on the floor around the fireplace, and working with stain I was a little nervous about how clean the edges around it would be--but it was perfect! No bleeding, no splashes, no inconsistency in the color--I will definitely be calling again when we decide to refinish the rest of the downstairs! All in all, I would happily give RKM's team of Rob and his installers the highest possible rating. They are all high quality, experienced workers, who know exactly what they are doing, and are super efficient. I cannot day enough good things about them.
