Unfortunately in both circumstances, I needed to replace the appliance. However, Dan was thoroughly informative with recommendations and suggestions and being in the business, I trusted his advice and am happy with the purchases I made. This is his area of expertise, not mine, and his support and information did not disappoint. He was on time. He called ahead of time to let me know he was on his way. My Sub-Zero freezer Ice Maker wasn't working. Bob came and said it was the water shut off valve was bad and he replaced it. Had to shut off water after it was replaced it because water was leaking from the ceiling in the basement under the unit. Fixed that but the ice maker was getting too much water and I had a block of ice in the bucket and along the walls inside freezer. I shut off the ice maker. They came back and said I needed a control panel. Replaced that but some of the buttons didn't work. Got a new one again and then it still doesn't make ice and freezer became a refrigerator and was filling the bucket with water. Was told the main control box in the bottom of the freezer needed to be replaced. Problem is, Sub -Zero doesn't make them anymore! So now not only do I not have an Ice-maker! I don't have a freezer. So disappointed in what a rip off this place is :/ there's not many companies in the area that offer such services so we didn't do much research before booking an appointment. Was told $140 service fee to come out and diagnose . A guy to came out to diagnosis what the problem was for our washer machine and recommended a solution he spent a few mins clicking buttons, thumbed through his pamphlets to get error code and then recommended buying a new one. I called for service and they came in 3 days. i told the repair man what was going on and that I thought it was the circulation pump. He took it apart and agreed that was the problem. he didn't have the part but said he could get it 4 days. He said the part to be installed would be $621 including the diagnosis. I told him the part was $92.00 online and he said that was the price. the dishwasher is only 2 years old. the repairman was rude and obviously a crook. I ordered the part and it will be here in 2 days and I'll install it myself. I would never use them again. read more

I started out with a lot of hope because the company agreed to try to repair our very old Whirlpool washer. We wanted to keep it going since it *had* been working reliably for decades; new appliances just aren't built to last. We had to wait more than a week for a service appointment (who gets the 'Same Day Service'?) and Bob arrived after the end of the 4 hour window. So two annoying things there. However, he quickly found a broken coupling and said the part would be ordered and someone could complete the repair the following week. Fair enough; can't have all the possible parts needed on hand. Was surprised to get a call that the part was in and someone would complete the repair the very next day (Friday)...but after the 'repair', there was a terrible smell of burning metal. I tried to call immediately and...no answer from the '24/7' answering service. Eventually got through. No one called back, though. Called again the next day and admittedly was pretty nasty, since I had a load of soaking wet laundry and the machine was more broken than before. Bob called back and said the office would contact us and someone could be out the next week. He essentially told me that it was a 40 year old machine, and someone had come out earlier than the original estimated time, so what was my problem? Okay, so don't agree to try to fix a 40 year old machine if you don't think you can do it! And yeah, it would have been great to have the repair done earlier than projected, except it wasn't repaired! He showed up this afternoon--no call from the office. I'm at work, my husband's at work, the only one at home is a sleeping teen. She lets him in and he tells us that the motor is burned out and we need a new machine. More than $300 wasted that we should have used towards that new machine. $120 for labor; $140 for the service call; $65 for a coupling that apparently triggered the motor to burn out. read more

They came exactly when they said they would; they fixed our old refrigerator and oven. We had given up on the oven - no longer being made, other appliance companies (Cape Appliance - different company) wouldn't even send someone out, and said we'd never be able to get parts. We had given up and were already looking for a new range. But Cape Cod Appliance took one look at it, said we needed a new igniter, and replaced it on the spot. I don't write reviews often, unless they are exceptional or disastrous. In this case, I felt it was important to warn others about Cape Cod Appliance Service. I have a Miele Coffee maker that started to leak water. The service guy made the visit, diagnosed the problem as needing replacement of the water reservoir and the gasket. He charged me $149 for this. Then he came back a couple of weeks later and charged me $336, for a total of $485 to basically replace a plastic container and a gasket. An obnoxious portion of this was parts cost. This is a classic case of shamelessly gauging a customer. While he was here the first time, I had him look at replacing a light bulb in the hood above my range. The socket holding the light bulb was behind the panel and would need to be replaced too, since it was loose. He charged me $45 to diagnose the problem, which took him three mins max. He came back and replaced the socket and put in a new light bulb, for a whopping $185 (prices are close but not exact). Buyer beware! These guys will rip you off if you let them. They are NEVER coming back to my house. read more

Completely disappointing and unimpressed. As a small business owner on Cape Cod it always disappoints me to hear locals having to go off Cape for services / goods. However it is because of companies like Cape Cod Appliance that so many feel that way. Our 11 year old dishwasher wasn't working and we called Cape Cod Appliance. 1st visit the repairman was confident that it was a "latch" on the front of the dishwasher - we paid 150$ for this latch to be repaired and that was not the issue. 2nd visit we were informed that it must be the power switch (after the latch was replaced). One major gripe we have is that the repairman told us we could return our initial latch purchase since that was not the problem. If you are smacking your head wondering why we put any more money into this - I KNOW, I KNOW!. We should have known we were getting screwed when at the 3rd visit a different repairman showed up - replaced our power switch and stated "it must be the control board." In the meantime we also asked them to fix a pilot on our stove - they showed up with the wrong part! So we are out 300$ and we are buying a new dishwasher - I take full responsibility for putting any money into an old appliance but I found this company to be completely useless and in the case of the latch - unethical. After calling to question whether we could return our useless latch we did get a return phone call from the owner stating although that was not possible he would perform an installation of any new dishwasher for free. Are you kidding me - I wouldn't let anyone from this company tighten a screw never mind install an appliance. Went to Lowe's (Off Cape) and bought a new dishwasher that they installed. read more

Avoid. Unfortunately I cannot say good things about this service. I'm scratching my head wondering why the service is so bad, and I think it's because there probably just isn't enough competition. I have an extended warranty through a service called Upsie and was matched with Cape Cod Appliance (didn't get to choose, otherwise I would've read these reviews and avoided them). The initial booking process was not good. Everything is done over the phone. They only come to my area (Plymouth) on Tuesdays. That aside, I finally got an appointment. They came out and looked at the dishwasher. Unfortunately they don't carry parts and they have to order everything. Normally that'd be okay, but in my case they didn't receive the part until after the following Tuesday, so it was 2 weeks form the date they first came out that I was finally getting the part installed. Fast forward 2 days later, I'm using my dishwasher and it doesn't work. The part they put in didn't solve the issue. Scheduling was again an issue. I missed one appointment, so that extended things out a bit. At one point when they did have the part, they said they were already booked up and my appointment was 10+ days out. Once they sent the guy to look at the busted dishwasher, he confirmed it was their part that failed. He then said they could overnight the part and be back as soon as that Thu. However, I never heard from Cape Cod and had to call them 4-5 days later. The customer service team is not proactive at all. They do not accept emails. If you email them, they call and leave a voicemail instead of answering simple questions ("when will the part be in? When is my next appointment?"). Every time you call them it's like they're on the defense, instead of putting themselves in your shoes and trying to offer the best service possible. Every time there's a delay, I have to call them to check on things. They blame it on part availability. But then the service guy says they have the ability to overnight parts. Why the conflicting information? I'm not sure there's anything Cape Cod can do to earn even a 3+ star review at this point. Maybe if they read this and sent someone out tomorrow I'd be impressed, but I'm fairly certain they're just a busted business operating on a lack of competition. This has experience has caused me to decide to never purchased an extended warranty again. Next time I'll choose my suppliers and get appliances fixed on a reasonable timeline with less hassles and ridiculousness. read more

One of the worst companies I've worked with. So sorry I didn't read these reviews first. I had a nonfunctioning washer in an add-on apartment, and a non-functioning dryer in my house. I've spent just short of $800 on to have this company come out and tell me what I already knew (the machines weren't working and I needed new control panels for each). They replaced the dryer panel but failed to reset it so the timing didn't match, and once again confirmed the washer didn't work, but said that panel would cost $500 (after I'd already paid them almost $800) plus labor. You'd think they could have told me that in the first place, especially as I was led to believe it was part of the original huge fee! Do NOT use them. read more

I wish I could give zero stars to this company. Was getting ready to sell my house and was informed that the dishwasher did not work. I called them and scheduled an appointment. The tech arrived and diagnosed it as a bad fuse. Im still not even sure that there IS a fuse in a dishwasher! They returned a week later with said fuse and replaced it. My total bill was $300 for a blown fuse. And to make matters worse, during home inspection for the sale the inspector found the dishwasher improperly connected (leaking from water line) and improperly installed. Now I have to pay another person to come out and fix something that they did. I will NEVER use this company again and warn others to stay far away. read more

I called Cape Cod Appliance Service because I needed my new range converted from natural gas to propane and installed. I appreciated the fact that they were willing to drive the hour to my house. My technician, Dan, was very personable, neat and knowledgeable. He brought a quilted blanket and spread out all my range parts as he disconnected them. After the work was done he asked me if I had any questions about the new range. The service was perfect and my husband was impressed that Dan was able to level the range in our 240 year old house! They came out to diagnose a washing machine that was not operating correctly charged me 200 dollars to tell me it was the control board. They would order the part and in few days come back and install . He specifically told me the return trip parts and labor would be four hundred dollars. So decision time do I spend 600 dollars total or buy a new washing machine. I opted to have them back. I wasn't there but when I got the bill it was 624.00 dollars for the return trip plus the 200 I already spent. This is bullshit and if I was there would have thrown him out on his ass. Stay away from this rip off company. Funny they called at 11:27 am said they were at the house he called back at 12:13 said he was done and was in the truck waiting for my card info. On the bill it said extra labor time 140 dollars. Wow 47 minutes to install or less and that's extra labor time. Stay away from these rip off artists on cape cod. The technician just left my house, and I could have bought a NEW dishwasher for the cost of service! After the $180 for the "Diagnosis Fee," they charged an additional $235 to fix it! The "technician" (who looked 12-years-old), spent 15 minutes diagnosing the problem, and another 30 minutes installing the part. Labor costs totaled $245 for 45 minutes on site! At $6 per MINUTE, my friend--a back surgeon--thinks he may have entered the wrong line of work! I believe Cape Cod Appliance's business model is: "Get every penny from customers while you can, because we do not expect any repeat business!" Do yourself a favor: do not give them the initial call, and you will already be ahead! With Christmas just 2 days away, and a houseful of people filtering in for an extended holiday stay, it was a less than opportune time for the dishwasher to take a vacation. The dishwasher being, I think, the only appliance for which we don't have a service plan, I turned to the internet. Cape Cod Appliance was the first return on my search. Their website states very predominately, "Same Day Service." (At those rates, why wouldn't it?) In all fairness, I was told about a same day up-charge when I called, but the inclusions and conditions were not outlined. With the thoughts--a nightmare, really--of Christmas dinner being served on paper plates, I agreed. At the conclusion of his diagnosis (or best guess) of what the problem was, the technician promptly collected a check for $200! $180 for the service call and a $20 deposit for the part, which was supposed to be over-nighted. He left with $200 and gave us a promise of a call the next day to install the part. I was moderately impressed that the part would come in, and be installed on Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve came and went without a phone call, but luckily the dishwasher limped through. On Friday, 27 Dec, they called to say the part was in, and scheduled a Monday appointment. (It was the holidays, and the dishwasher continued to work, so we weren't too concerned about the delays.) They would call with a firm appointment time Monday morning. Living up to their word, they called at 8:20 Monday morning, but gave me a 10-2 window. (Clearly, our opinions of "Firm" appointment times differ.) When the technician presented the bill (yes, I was sitting down), I began asking questions. I wanted to understand what I had previously paid for, and what I was currently paying for. (I feel that is my right as a customer. I'm funny that way.) While I was in the process of speaking, he was already answering. (He must get this a lot.) So when he finished I began asking my follow-up. Again, he took a "why wait for the question, when I'm all ready with the answer" approach. When I again pointed out that he interrupted me, and started again to ask a very legitimate question, he said I could call the office. I did. I got the answering service, and am currently waiting on a return call. We have recently completed an extensive renovation to our Cape Cod home. We have used--almost exclusively--small, local contractors. Overall, their attention-to-detail, craftsmanship, and genuine concern to "get it right" was exceptional--far exceeding our expectations. Cape Cod Appliance falls far short of that criteria. I am willing to pay for the services I contract for and receive. But I do have a certain expectation level for production, respect, and customer service--in short, value. There is no value choosing Cape Cod Appliance. My recommendation to you, as I will do in the future, is to look elsewhere for ALL your appliance service needs! read more

Called Cape Cod Appliance for a repair on a very basic Whirlpool top loading washer. Guys shows up and diagnoses problem as a failed clutch assembly and possibly a motor. Does the guy even bring a motor and clutch? No. Then he says its not worth fixing and we should buy a new one (which they happen to sell). Same washer goes for about $700. So I go online and in 10 minutes I find the clutch assembly and a new motor for our washer and I purchase them for about $150 and I also find a youtube video on how to replace the clutch. I took me 90 minutes to pull the machine out of the laundry closet, get the new parts installed and put the machine back in the closet. Problem solved for $150 in parts and 90 minutes of my time as a homeowner doing the repair. And Cape Cod Appliance said it wasn't worth fixing and we should buy a new one. read more

2nd visit to repair appliance (leaking refrigerator). 1st visit he spent only 30min on repair and charged $132 service fee plus $30 for the part which what he stated was a "in-line drain heater kit" which seemed to fix the problem. After only a few months, it started leaking again. Called them back out because they said that their work was guaranteed. When they arrived, he spent 1/2hr again and said he needed to install another heater kit. This time I was there to watch. This so called "kit" was nothing more than a 1/2" wide thin strip of aluminum that he bent and wrapped around the freezer's antifrost heating rod and shoved down the condensation drain tube. I asked what else the kit included to make it cost $30 and was told that the strip was the kit and that they charge $30 because they can. He then told me how their "guarantee" is only good for 90 days and does not cover the service fee. Spent some time on the phone with the manager but still ended up having to pay another $95 service fee. There were other issues with the quality of service other than the issue of the cost. The bottom line is that on each service visit and the time spent on the phone with the manager, it is obvious to me that they give little consideration to their customers and are only concerned about getting as much money for the least amount of work and that they do that... "because they can". ***UPDATE: Just spoke to manager again and they have reduced the service fee from $95 to $45. New heating kit has not been installed yet but will update again when all work has been completed. read more

My regular appliance guy on the Cape (Steve Robino of Steve's Appliance Service in Marston Mills) does not do fridges, so I turned to this outfit. It was not an emergency or anything, it was a back-up fridge that had not been working for a while. I described the problem in detail on the phone, and they said they would be there between 10am and 2pm the next day, and that it would cost $150-200 to fix it. But the guy showed up at 2:30pm, and then told me the fridge could not be fixed, and I need to buy a new one -- and he charged me $140 for this 5-minute visit. THAT'S AN INCREDIBLE RIP-OFF!!! OUR Electrolux washing machine, delivered new May 2016, has had 4 warranty service calls,and the company Electrolux sent was this one. They do nothing; we have had the same 2 error codes & yet each time a different repair person comes and asks what the problem is.This last time they came, again, the repair person said he didnt know what the repair issue was and again, left without fixing the problem. worse customer sevice than comcast. they were supposed to repair a 3 month old LG washing machine when a weight broke off the drum. two separate visits from them. they kept telling me yeah call lg and get a replacement, and lg kept saying cape cod appliance needs to call us when working on machine to verify the problem. cape cod appliance refused to do this saying they don't have manpower to fix??? now it's been 3 months without washing machine, lg keeps calling every local service company each one taking days to call then one after another they tell me they won't touch the machine because cape cod appliance has already worked on it. On two separate occasions I was given a specific cost for a particular service however when it came time to pay I was charged more BOTH times ($25 & $30). The services did not require any parts so there was no reason for the price upcharge!! Do not trust the price quote they give you when you initially call and set up the appointment!! read more

When scheduling appointment with cape cod appliance service, make sure they detail the service change. I was told that the service changes are deducted for fixing my refrigerator they never said that if they cannot fix the problem they still charge for the visit. I don't know any one that makes $115.00 for sitting at my kitchen table for 10 minutes to call the manufacturer. I use Cape Cod Appliance for all my repairs and have used them when we rented our home. They are always realiable and fix everything on the initial repair day. I can usually get a repair within a few days. My appliances are by Viking and SubZero, and I have found Cape cod Appliance usually has the parts needed and the knowledge to repair them!
