I love Canzelle! I live in Irvine and this is my second time making the trip to visit the farm- the first time being RIGHT before the shutdown in 2020! Crazy! It was as great as I remembered... maybe even more so, because this time, I had my toddler son with me. I also went with my fiance, my friend and HER young son, and we all had a blast. And yay!! No one spit on us. Haha The llamas and alpacas are incredible and obviously the stars, but the boys loved seeing the water buffalo and chickens, too. It's quiet and organized, there's sinks to wash your hands, the gift shop is SO cute (I got a stuffed llama for my friend!) FOLLOW THE ROAD SIGNS for parking!!!! It can be narrow. Everyone who works there is passionate and loves their jobs and the animals. Shoutout to Charlie the cat who does his own thing!!!
Brought my family to visit the alpacas and it's such a magical place for my 18 month old . She loved peering them tho she was a tad scared but got over her fears .we got to so many animals
Such a great experience! Stopped by this beautiful farm to see the Alpacas before my stop at Santa Barbara. I purchased tickets online before and it was very simple. They send you instructions and the tickets to get in by email. The animals were so cute and friendly enough to take pictures. During the tour they tell you what you can and can't do. They also tell you a little about the farm. The tour is one hour and that's a great timeframe for the whole experience.
Amazing experience if you're in the Santa Barbara area. It's really just an hour of hanging out with alpacas. According to the owners, they had three different time slots, and each time slot had their own group of alpacas they could feed, so that was very thoughtful! The owners, in general, are friendly people. There's not much to do outside of hanging out with alpacas, so the owners will talk to you every now and then about the alpacas. The alpacas are very friendly but shy. Some will walk away from you unless you have food. We also got to feed a water buffalo and some goats. For a farm, this place is crazy clean too. Nice restroom. Place didn't smell terrible. One thing I was worried about was humane treatment of the animals, but honestly, the animals look very happy to be there. There is a cat roaming around freely too, so please be careful when driving to and from the farm.
What an awesome experience! This experience requires online reservations and they will not allow walk-ins. That being said, I purchased our tickets a couple of days in advance. They are only open Friday thru Sunday. We had a 4pm reservation for the hour long tour. As we walked up to the barn, we were greeted by Inky the Llama who will totally put a smile on your face. The tour starts with a brief history of the farm and safety precautions when interacting with the Alpacas. After the briefing, the group entered an area where we were allowed to spend some time petting, taking pics, and just learning about the female Alpacas. Rosie was the friendliest and loved taking pics. We were then given carrots to feed a differrnt group of Alpacas through or above the fence. From there we entered a gate where a group of male Alpacas were kept. No feeding or petting. They were pretty riled up in hopes of getting some carrots. We ended by feeding the Filipino Water Buffalo carrots and his sidekick, a goat, some leaves. We did see the peacocks, but they were put inside their cage for the night. We stopped by the store with adorable gifts and took in the views from the balcony. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get here. Quite a bit of people were late. When you turn onto the road look for signs and follow the road all the way up until you see the red barn. We loved our visit and especially loved hearing about the rescued animals.
I love alpacas. They are strange creatures, sure, but they can be cuddly. Yes, cuddly. Some will let you kiss them on the mouth. Some may nip you on your chin (yes, I received a gentle, harmless, bloodless nip). Most will allow you to pet their wonderful fur. Some don't want to have anything to do with you--and that is ok. Treat yourself and your family to a visit with some alpacas. The location is absolutely gorgeous and I cannot imagine someone not having a wonderful time here. Make sure you make a reservation and give yourself some extra time to get to the farm. Tours start on time.
Came here on a holiday weekend afternoon to visit with the alpacas. The venue and staff are great. It's clear that they take great care of the animals. The alpacas are super cute and fun to be around and learn about. The main reason could not fully enjoy the visit was because of how many people were there. It was a large crowd, which made it pretty chaotic. People were running around, trying to get photos, not really listening to the instructions about how to interact with the alpacas. It made it challenging to get close to the animals or enjoy their presence. Also, it was frustrating that everyone was focused on getting photos of themselves with animals vs. actually interacting with the animals, or creating a peaceful environment. We didn't get much of an opportunity to interact because others were monopolizing the more friendly ones, and I think the loud crowd was spooking the rest. With that, would recommend coming at a less busy time.
I went to visit the alpacas for my birthday on Valentine's Day, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences ever. From the moment we arrived, everything felt so peaceful and welcoming. Getting to see the alpacas up close, feed them, and just spend time around them was absolutely magical. They are the sweetest, most gentle little fluff balls I literally fell in love. Each one has its own personality, and being able to interact with them made the whole experience feel so special and personal. It was such a unique way to celebrate my birthday, and it made Valentine's Day even more memorable. I truly had the best time and left with the biggest smile on my face. They completely stole my heart... so now I guess I'll just have to go back and get it! I already can't wait to visit again. If you're thinking about going do it. You won't regret it!
We stopped by on the way back from Santa Barbara to LA, and it was a fun and delightful experience for my family with 2 young kids. We were part of a group tour and got plenty of time to spend with the alpacas in different locations on the farm. We were able to feed, pet, and take pictures with them. Make sure to follow the instructions on approaching them from the front and being gentle and respectful. Definitely make a reservation in advance. And don't forget to stop by the gift shop to bring home a fluffy friend made of alpaca wool!
So much fun! We had 33 people on our 1hr tour. We visited the female alpacas first, they are such gentle animals, got to pet, hug & feed them. We even got to pet & feed 2 baby alpacas. Next we visited & fed the male alpacas & llamas. Lastly we fed other rescue animals: Filipino water buffalo, goat, sheep, etc. It was a great experience for all ages, I highly recommend it, just make sure to book online ahead of time, it's reservations only. They also have a gift shop with alpaca hats, scarves, gloves, socks, blankets, toys, etc.
It was our very first time visiting SB bound, and our first stop was here at, Canzelle Alpacas-- it was a my husband's birthday, so I decided to surprise our fam with our little getaway trip I thought it would be a lovely experience to pet some furry friends, and they were probably the most adorable little thing ever. We enjoyed and loved every minute of this tour. The hostess was very nice and welcoming. Thank you for the memorable time

Canzelle Alpacas is an alpaca farm located in the town of Carpinteria, just outside Santa Barbara. It's deep in the countryside but is close enough to the water. We booked tickets online and arrived on the farm during our slotted time. We got up close with the alpacas and fed them with carrots and bowls of feed. One of the workers got the alpacas in position (with sunglasses and a hat) and we took pictures with them. We learned about the different types of alpacas but there were other animals on the farm like llamas, horses, sheep, chickens, and Archie the water buffalo. The whole experience took an hour. I recommend wearing closed-toe shoes as you'll be walking on unsteady ground in the dirt and grass. We went with kids and it was very kid-friendly. They had lots of fun feeding the alpacas and being around them. read more
I had a blast chilling with the Alpacas! Though the day was pretty warm, there was enough to shade to make the tour enjoyable. No parking lot is no problem, plenty of parking along the small pavement road. The only thing you got to watch for is that right before reaching into the farm destination, there is a tight bottleneck where the road gets a bit tight. But it is the only exit and entrance, used by two opposing traffic. So it can get kind of tight and one car has to steer off the road just a bit to make room so both car can pass along. For one hour tour, there was surprisingly a lot! First segment is interacting with a small herd of Alpacas in the outer farm. The second half is where you head into the inner portion of the farms where you'll be given food to feed the alpacas. There is a llama as well with the herd during the second half of the tour. Then afterwards, you get to go to the little shop on second floor of the farmhouse, where a cat name Charlie could be seen. read more

Feeding the alpacas at the Canzelle farm was such a lovely experience! After being in an uber from hell, my parter and I met Karen at the farm and she was so friendly! We started with feeding the female alpacas (Agnes and Twyla were the best)! We then proceeded to feed the males and see the other animals on the farm, including a water buffalo! It was such a calming, silly, and sweet experience. Karen was such a wonderful guide. She distracted our uber driver while we browsed the gift shop at the end of the tour! read more

My boyfriend wasn't excited about this activity but that absolutely changed once we got to the farm. The alpacas were so adorable. I was a little afraid of them possibly spitting but nothing happened. Don't ask me why I wore sandals, but I enjoyed myself read more
Was looking for stuffs to do in Santa Barbara and this place popped up on Yelp and my kid was interested in checking it out and good that I checked their website before booking our hotel bc I found out they only open Friday to Sunday limited time with online reservations. We adjusted our vacation to stop by here...the online reservation was easy and you will get your tickets and confirmation after paying. The tour was not cheap, but it's a fun event and great memories with your family. The staff here were also friendly and informative. The tour lasted about an hour long and they also have a little gift shop to check out. It's such a fun and unique experience near Santa Barbara. read more

What an experience! All the alpacas are so adorable and definitely one hour is enough to get some good pictures and learn a lot about how alpacas live. You have to reserve online for $30 per person for an hour. The price helps take care of the animals so I'm all for helping keep these guys safe and fed. First half of the tour is hanging out with the female alpacas. They are separated from the males due to mating reasons. Some are a bit more feisty than others but you can find some that will let you stroke their neck and even take pictures. THEY ARE SO FLUFFY!! The second 30 minutes were my favorite where we were given a bucket of carrots and we got to feed the male alpacas. They all swarm you like a flock of hungry animals so you have to pick your favorite alpacas. A really fun experience and is worth trying out at least once! Wasn't too hard to find if you follow google maps but you do have to drive through a narrow road all the way up. Street parking is free, right next to the farm. read more
so many alpacas & llamas here!! & so many more beautiful animals!! we learned so much about the history of how this place came to be & the backstory & all the different animals here! the owner even stopped by to talk more about how she came to have this beautiful place!! we were initially warned that some of them can get mean & spit or even kick so we were so wary and distant at first, but then our guide taught us that we can leave carrots in our mouths to feed them and kiss them & they were so gentle!! i had such an amazing time here & would definitely recommend this activity to everyone!! read more

Came here on a whim with no reservation after lunch. The host was nice enough to take us and allowed us to join the tour. The host gave us a run down of Do's/Don'ts and some educational information on the Alpacas. They led us into the gate to meet the female Alpacas. We met with the groundskeeper Alberto. One of the Alpacas just had her baby, it was 3 days old. We get to pet and take pictures with them. They're all so cute and nice! Be warned, only a couple of them do spit. LOL They separate the female and male Alpacas to avoid them fighting with each other. After, the host and Alberto took us to visit the male Alpacas. We were given carrots to feed them. There you will also get to see lamas, chickens, water buffalo, goat, peacock and at the end we met Charlie the cat! Overall, we have a great time learning, petting and talking with Alberto! Love the way Alberto interacts with the animals! Both host and Alberto are very knowledgeable with the animals. There's a lot of dirt so make sure you wear comfortable shoes and be careful where you walk! read more

We had an absolutely fantastic experience at Canzelle alpacas today, thanks to our wonderful tour guide, Karen. She created a truly memorable birthday celebration for my fiancé--thoughtful, kind, and completely present throughout. Karen went out of her way to offer photo opportunities, capturing beautiful moments that turned out far better than anything I could have done myself. We can't recommend this experience enough--whether you're an adult or bringing kids, it's well worth it. read more

Such a fun experience! Staff is so sweet and amazing!! They help you engage with the animals especially if you are a little nervous at first. There are different areas with male / female alpacas as well as a bull, goat, and lamb. We are also able to feed all the animals :) The farm also has a handwashing station and a clean restroom. Definitely worth visiting and supporting the animals and this business. read more
