From the moment we arrived, everything felt so peaceful and welcoming. Getting to see the alpacas up close, feed them, and just spend time around them was absolutely magical. They are the sweetest, most gentle little fluff balls I literally fell in love. Each one has its own personality, and being able to interact with them made the whole experience feel so special and personal. It was such a unique way to celebrate my birthday, and it made Valentine's Day even more memorable. I truly had the best time and left with the biggest smile on my face. They completely stole my heart... so now I guess I'll just have to go back and get it! I already can't wait to visit again. If you're thinking about going do it. You won't regret it!

Amazing experience if you're in the Santa Barbara area…read more It's really just an hour of hanging out with alpacas. According to the owners, they had three different time slots, and each time slot had their own group of alpacas they could feed, so that was very thoughtful! The owners, in general, are friendly people. There's not much to do outside of hanging out with alpacas, so the owners will talk to you every now and then about the alpacas. The alpacas are very friendly but shy. Some will walk away from you unless you have food. We also got to feed a water buffalo and some goats. For a farm, this place is crazy clean too. Nice restroom. Place didn't smell terrible. One thing I was worried about was humane treatment of the animals, but honestly, the animals look very happy to be there. There is a cat roaming around freely too, so please be careful when driving to and from the farm.

We came with a large group of friends so we booked the Rancho Grande Howard Creek, Rancho Grande Historic and the Rancho Grande Fish Camp. Essentially, we had the entire ranch for ourselves. I believe only the Rancho Grande Historic has a bathroom inside - the Fish Camp and Howard Creek share bathroom which is walking distance from Fish Camp or via a Gator Utility Vehicle if you are staying on Howard Creek. Anyway, there was no issue for any of us getting around the Ranch. Plenty of Gator Utility Vehicles were provided (I think 4 total and we used all 4). But if you prefer driving your vehicle around, you can do so too. There is a communal area with a fridge and kitchen so thats were we had our meals. Its by the lake so its a nice view. We were able to paddle boat, kayak and go fishing. Kids specially loved petting and feeding the goats, dogs, camel (YES, a camel) and the alpaca. Owners were really friendly every time we bumped into them. Great stay and I would recommend this to everyone. Our only hiccup was that it was really cold at night and one of the heaters went out and my child has had a runny nose since. But other than that - amazing experience.

Love, love, love Frog Creek Farm. Can't believe that they have been in business for over a decade…read moreand I just heard about them recently. We had been to another lavender farm in the upper Ojai Valley some years ago and I was looking for that info to return. That one has closed, but thankfully, Frog Creek Farm is a wonderful "find" for us. The lavender full blossom season is short, so you need to check on them via social media to find out when they are open. Instagram has current info. It's a delight to pull off the Ojai/Santa Paula Road and mosey on to their property. They have so much to see, including their cutting garden of seasonal flowers, some places to sit at picnic tables in the shade and even swing (i.e., hammock), the gift shop, and the lavender rows - the main event. Larry provides a great introduction at the small stand adjacent to the flowering beds. He describes the location and how to identify the five kinds of lavender they offer for cutting. For 2025 pricing - $16 earns you a generous bunch of fragrant blooms. After orientation, you are off with a basket to collect the stems, and scissors to do your own cutting / harvesting. As promised, the plentiful bees scattered away as we leaned in to cut the stems close to the main host bushes. We wandered among the rows and filled up our gathering basket. Back at the stand, Larry tied our haul into a beautiful bunch. We proceeded to the gift shop to pay for our pickings, and I also found a few other items to purchase, including lavender-infused spray which has many purposes. Christel greeted us as we were wrapping up our visit. She filled us in as we asked questions about how long they'd been there, as well as about some of their products. She's as sweet and charming as the farm is. What a lovely place to visit. We'll be putting it on the to-do list next summer, for sure!

From the personal lavender lesson, to the hands on cutting, shopping the lavender shed to sipping amazing lavender lemonade under the trees, it's such a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. My only complaint was that the seating for wedding ceremony was only half shaded and half not. Many guest including myself ended up standing up for the ceremony to be on the shaded side. There were only 2 bartenders but they were quick. At times there were lines but that also moved quickly. Food was good, buffet style. Wood Fired Prime Angus Tri-Tip was pretty tender and juicy. Everyone can get a big blue bucket and fill it with the sweetest, plumpest blueberries! If the kids don't want to put their blueberries together, the employees just look and guesstimate half/ third etc if a bucket. It is $18 a bucket but that is SO MUCH! 3 of us picked about a half a bucket in 45 minutes so it was about $9. There are about 60 long rows to pick, chairs or benches at the end of each row and restrooms if needed. We have come with 3-15 year olds and always have a really nice time. Before you come make sure their blueberries are in season, wear shoes that can be a bit dirty and bring water bottles. Have fun! They are all so nice and helpful! Open until 4....ish.

Some areas will require extra tickets that you can purchase separately. We had a quick look around and then headed on over to the tractor-drawn wagon ride which took us over to the strawberry fields. It's a pick yourself experience and there are boxes and bags that you can grab to fill up (the best thing is that you can sample them while you pick). There are also various vegetables that you can pick as well. We wanted to check out some of the bok choy, but they were not available, boo. Once you're done, head back to the front Farm Market near the entrance and pay for your items. I will say that their strawberries are juicy and sweet! We got to see some of the various farm animals and then we got to pick our strawberries. A fun experience with some yummy strawberries to sample and take home. Credit cards are accepted.

They offer a complimentary olive oil tasting, allowing you to truly appreciate the depth and character of each variety. The fresh bread served alongside the tasting is crafted from scratch in nearby Los Alamos at Bob's Well Bread Bakery, and it is delicious. A few of my personal favorites were the Santa Ynez, Garlic, and Habanero olive oils. The Garlic was so outstanding that I immediately purchased a bottle to take home. It is incredibly versatile. The setting itself is just as memorable as the tasting. There is ample charming outdoor seating beside a small creek, and the gentle sound of flowing water creates a peaceful, almost meditative atmosphere. The vibes are truly immaculate. Inside, the shop is beautifully styled and filled with thoughtfully selected gifts and, of course, an impressive array of olive oils available for purchase. Hayley (sorry if it's spelled wrong) was especially warm and helpful, making the visit feel welcoming. They also offer WiFi, which allowed us to linger a bit longer and get some work done. It is rare to find a place that combines quality, hospitality, and atmosphere so seamlessly.
