Smallish strawberries from Frecker Farms, but so sweet and full of flavor.
Will L.

The Carpinteria Farmer's Market is open only Thursday afternoons, and I usually try to include a Thursday stay in my travel plans to ensure I can hit the market. It occupies a block on Linden from 3-6:30 in the afternoon, but in that block there are plenty of vendors, several farms being fully organic. My favorite is Frecker Farms, not just because of their great produce, but also because the staff manning their booth are just so nice. My last visit, in late fall, Frecker had incredible strawberries. Smallish, but full of flavor. Earlier in the fall you'll be tempted by the abundance of avocados at many of the booths, especially around the annual Avocado Festival.

Checking out the strawberries!!!

They have the best selection on BBQ sauces and rubs. Great selection of jams. I always come here when I'm in town.

The SB Public Market has a nice assortment of restaurants. We didn't really expect such a…read morewonderland of food and drink, and yet here it is. Went in to visit the new Seoulmate Kitchen. We kept hearing how authentic their food is, and they also have a delicious menu of Matcha and Cafe Specials. After walking in and noticing all the other food options, we all split up to visit the other spots within, and we then met at one of the many communal tables to share each other's selections. At our large table we had food from Corazon Cocina, Empty Bowl Gourmet Noodles, Wabi Sabi, Little Bird Kitchen, and Que (West Coast BBQ). They all paired nicely with draft beers and cocktails from Cooney's at the Market, and we even got desserts from Rori's Artisanal Creamery. Staff at each venue was very helpful making food suggestions, and even pointed out some of their own favorites there at the SBPM.

Not fast food type but a decent meal in a quick pace environment. Friendly and quick service. Like a food court type of arrangement but so much more. My favorite is seoul mate kitchen which offers some classic dishes with a fusion twist. I love the bento box here. Pick a protein among beef, pork belly, chicken Or tofu. It also comes with rice, half marinated egg, cucumber, carrots , and three veggie side dishes. A full meal without the need to do much thinking. Next is the ca'dario pizza, we got the parma pizza. I cannot stop eating it... maybe it is the crust Want to try the rori's artisanal creamery. There was a "be backed" sign on the register. We Waited for 10mins or so and had to go. Now i have one more reason to come back and visit. Parking is pretty convenient. City parking close by and offer first 45 minutes free parking,

We arrived towards the end of the market as they were starting to pack up and put things away…read more Still there were plenty of vendors still there offering their goods but slowly shifting and packing up. It's located in a parking lot behind the main strip and in a residential area. All street parking but it tends to be pretty easy. There's a bakery vendors that I've had a few times but they do sell out quite fast. Their fresh baked bread and sweets are one not to be missed. This visit, they weren't there in their usual section so I assume they were pretty much sold out fast. Loads of fresh organic vendors with all their goods. As it was summer, there were so many vendors with amazing tomatoes. Heirlooms, grape tomatoes and so all. Everything all looked so fresh and I'm sure it was straight from the farm that morning. Also loads of other vendors selling their homemade goods, like soap to candles to everything in between. Majority of the vendors are fresh produce so you know you'll be picking up fresh farm products. Also fresh flowers are always a must when a visiting the farmers market. Can't forget the fresh berries and fruits. Doesn't scream summer without all the fresh berries straight of the plant. Regardless what you're looking for or not, I'm sure you'll always leave with plenty of fresh things at this market. Their items are always so fresh. A must whenever I'm Ojai. It's always on a Sunday morning.

Prices are a bit more than Oxnard prices but I do think it's great to support local especially seeing the quality difference between local vendors and grocery stores. $13 for eggs still seems a bit steep for recovering from the egg hiked prices where they are now back to $6-7 in grocery stores. There was a vendor that sells sourdough breads and she was quite popular has she always had a line. Caroline's preservative jams are amazing in flavor and quality. I also appreciated that Centri Coffee was there so that I could buy some whole beans.

I love Sweet Wheels Farm Stand in Summerland. They have been my go to stop every time I'm in town…read moreand I love that they've now found their outdoor storefront to be nestled appropriately between two businesses. They are a cute / covered awning outdoor market - aka food stand. Currently they are open 7 days a week so you have the opportunity to shop their home made bakery good, produce and canned goods. They also have flowers which you can buy by the stem to make your own personal arrangements. Sweet Wheel Farm itself is closed to the public so this is the best way to support them and to get their local goods. You can check out their website for more information about their farming and how they give back to the community. They are simply amazing and after talking to the owner Leslie upon one of my quick shopping trips to her market I felt so empowered by the great work her and her team are doing, also grateful as I learned so many fabulous tidbits from her. Back to the farm stand. I adore them and their selection. They always have the most gorgeous veggies and fruits. What I will admit though is I'm a sucker for their bakery goods and fresh baked breads. Every time I come I have to buy a huge loaf of their olive bread - transports me to Italy or Spain everytime I eat it. Definitely my favorite item them sell here. Recently though I tried their apple muffins and brown butter chocolate chip cookies. Both were great but the cookies were fabulous! I need to leave with more next time because they were devoured by the family within hours. When in Summerland you must support this local farm stand and take some time to learn more about their farming and the amazing work they are doing for our community and food sensitive population. 5/5 stars all day long and I'll be back soon. Promise!
